The Friday Five~

This will be a new segment here. Just a little something that will let drop a few tidbits about yours truly and what may be going on outside of whatever current work she has on her laptop. Should be fun. So what will the first  Friday Five reveal about yours truly? I say lets dish books. After all this is an author's site is it not?

So today we will dish on the last five books I have read in 2010. Trust me, the genres range and I list them in no particular order.

1. World War Z by Max Brooks – if you are in the market for something off the beaten path then this post apocalyptic zombie war novel might be just what you need.

2. Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn – a fun coming of age tale from the author of Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist. Really not what would usually appear on my reading list, yet a fun read all the same.

3. Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon – It is a young adult book, but if you are a fan of Kenyon's Dark Hunter's, you might want to take a peak into Nick's world.

4. Deadtown by Nancy Holzner – This was a great read. Urban fantasy at it's finest. Her take on zombies was fresh and the read was laced with humor.

5. The Deadhouse by Linda Fairstein – A re-read, but still quite a fun mystery. Linda has yet to disappoint me and this one was still enjoyable the second time around.

There you have it. Five books I read over the course of the last year. What have you read? Please share and don't forget to go visit my fellow Friday Five partners.

Goodbye 2010!

Yes, it is that time of year when everyone says their goodbyes to the year and welcomes in a new year with resolutions. I for one, will not be making resolutions. Why? They don't keep. Not in my world. Besides, how motivational is it to start every year with the same resolutions? I for one, am tired of looking back at the year and focusing on the things I didn't accomplish. As I  visit my friends around the blogging universe, I see that I am not the only one. Do I want to be thinner? Of course. Do I believe the resolution will get me there? Not on your life. After so many years of un-kept resolutions, I think it is high time this girl tosses her resolution habit. How does that New Year's saying go? Oh yes, out with the old and in with the new.

So to usher in 2011, I am here by making a vow to look at this year with a new fervor. This year will yield great things. I can feel it. Whether those things will happen to me or those close to me, who's to say. All I know is that they will happen. This is the year of positive thinking people. Careful because I think it's contagious. Don't worry. It's not something that will send you into hiding. You want to catch this bug. I promise it will do us all a bit of good.

To my family, friends, acquaintances, fellow writers, and anyone else who happens to peruse this post, I wish you nothing but the best this year. May your dreams come to fruition, the evil green stuff multiply in your banks, and may you find whatever it is that your heart seeks. For now, I am going to seek the coffee pot. Then I am going to start cleaning up my writing space and sit down to make some real progress. Maybe put away the Christmas tree too while I'm at it. Let's round this post out with a little music shall we? This is currently a favorite of mine. You have to love a sassy southern girl. Happy New Year!

A Passionate Christmas~

There is something appealing about buying anthology pieces. There is the chance to sample new authors through anthologies. Sometimes they are paired with an author you already know and love that help sweeten the deal. Usually shorter reads, they are  a quick fix for that reader junkie in you. Most anthologies I've picked up are set around a similar theme. Take my own foray into this realm with Wild Ride. All western/cowboy type stories that pull you in with their promise of cowboy lovin'. This Christmas anthology did something I haven't seen before, and while it could totally have simply escaped my notice before now I am still enthralled all the same.

A Passionate Christmas brings together four authors- Clarissa Yip, R.M. Gilbert, Silke Juppenlatz, and Nina Croft. Their stories range from contemporary to paranormal. That isn't really what captures me though. What really sold me was the fact that while the stories may be different within the romance sub-genres, they are all set in the same town and there is some slight crossover of characters into the other stories. Now in order to pull something like this off, these ladies really had to communicate with each other before, during, and after the project. (We will learn more about that next week at The Sweet, the Bad, 'n the Wicked) I myself and looking forward to reading each of these stories. Not only that but I want to know your feedback if you've read them and what appealed to you about this anthology. Just click on the post card to be swept away to Decadent Publishing where all books are currently available for purchase!

And don't forget to stop by The Sweet, the Bad, 'n the Wicked next Wednesday for a chance to learn more about the lovely authors behind A Passionate Christmas.

A Little Bit Stronger~

I figured I haven't done a Music Monday post in a while. Thanks to my cousin for finding this for a certain girl in our lives. It was a total perfect fit and it is an over all great song. Enjoy this video and I will touch base soon.

If You Haven't Seen It~

This is hilarious. I may be a day late and a dollar short here and am fairly sure this has made the rounds, but it still cracks me up. I saw this for the first time today on The Knight Agency blog after several intense minutes of hovering over their blog and waiting for the clock to roll over to 8am EST (more on that at SBnW). Thought I would share just in case. I think everyone knows someone like this guy. Enjoy. I am off to blog at The Sweet, the Bad, 'n the Wicked. Stop on over!

Plays Well With Others~

Or at least I like to think I do. I am embarking on yet another new adventure. A group blog with some fellow authors, both published and aspiring. Should be fun. I suggest you make it a point to stop by and visit over at The Sweet, the Bad, 'n the Wicked. Trust me, I think you will enjoy sharing and conversing with authors of the varied sub-genres within the realm of romance.

Meanwhile, a little update on yours truly. I am working on a holiday free read. It has been an exciting journey. One that has also turned into a learning experience. This is true of most things I have attempted in my writing career. When the story is ready, trust me you will be the first to know. Time for me to get back to work. I have a full manuscript to tighten up and draft my query letters for, a free read to send off, and new stories to pen. I will touch base with you all again soon.

Dancing in the Dark~

Dear Muse,

We do this often you and I. You tempt me with your story ideas–a melody I cannot resist. The keyboard is ready for us to indulge in the movements we are so familiar with.  My fingers are hovering over the keys…waiting. A whispered word. Vampire. I think–overdone. Something new. Again you whisper the same word. I give in.

The words begin to form a scene that is all mine. The excitement builds. Passion for the art I so dearly love is reignited. Then you step away and take those little temptations that spark life into my work with you. I search for you and discover that my partner has left me alone to dance in the dark.

You may think this will stop me. That I will leave the dance floor. Spirit broken. But you lured me out and the song is not finished. I will continue dancing. Alone if I must. For I have not yet mastered this dance. Little do you know that my determination runs deep. So to you my dear muse, I have only this to say-

Would you like to join me? With or without you, I will continue this dance. Even in the dark if I must. Though, I do prefer to have a little company from my partner in crime. Take time and think about it. I will be here, fingers dancing on the keys.

Yours Truly,

Moira

Sloan McBride's Tempting You

Oh how I have been waiting for this day to come. And now she is here! Sloan! *Moira waves fanatically* Can't wait to continue following along on your blog tour. Thanks for making this one of your stops along the way.

Hi, All…..Day Two of my blog brings me by to see Moira Keith.  Thanks for having me, Moira.  It's great to be here.

I love fall.  I really can't say that enough….LOL  Burning leaves, bonfires, picking pumpkins, haunted hayrides.  What is there not to love?

Q:  You write paranormal romance.  Is there any type of paranormal you like more than the others?

A:   There are so many awesome things it's hard to choose one favorite.  I think paranormal is pretty interesting stuff and it gets my imagination flowing.

Please tell me if you have a certain aspect of paranormal that you like to read about.  Remember, to enter for any of the prizes I'm giving away during my blog tour all you have to do is post a comment on the blog the day I am appearing there.  I will pick the winners and post the list on my blog November 1st.

TODAY'S PRIZE:    Free download of my debut novel "Highland Stone"
