New Cover/Publisher for Soul Mate

As some of you know, my novella Soul Mate was removed from circulation last year and is going to be re-released later this year with The Wild Rose Press. And not just a re-release, but a new and improved version of the original story. It isn't often we as authors have the opportunity to go in and play with a story after it's out for the public, but with this story I did have that chance.
Nice cover... don't you think?
Blurb and Excerpt to follow... No release date yet.

Male / Female ~ Who wins the prize?
I don't often debate on my blog, but hey... once in a while I like to stir the pot a little.
As a member of RWA, I am informed about things going on in the industry. A recent article spoke about how books written by men are more likely to be reviewed than books written by women. Click HERE to read the article I'm talking about.
I try to avoid getting upset about things I can't change so I'll leave this topic alone... Kinda. But the article did spark a few thoughts in my brain.
Why is romance such a gender specific genre? And why is it that if a man reads and reviews a book people listen to him more than if he were a woman? Why is a book written by a man about relationships, maybe even a love interest, considered literature and the same book written by a woman simply romance? Why do love stories written by men make it on the sliver screen? These chick-flicks are completely romance, detailed love scenes and all... yet because they're written by a man they capture the attention of tens of thousands of people. I've read a gazillion romance novels, many of which would make amazing movies... so how do we fight the gender barrier? Do we write under a male name?
I suppose maybe we need to follow Nora Roberts example, she using the name J.D. Robb for her less romancy, more actiony books, is in order. Hmmm, C.J. Bybee... *shakes head*
I guess I need to go back to my earlier comment... Don't stress about things I can't change. Hey, if Harlequin could care less about attracting the attention of male readers, I shouldn't waste time thinking about why male authors get the attention.
I'm a woman writing for women. I'm not sure too many men outside of my father have read my books. *shrugs shoulders* Hey, that's half the population to entertain. I can live with that!

Thank you - True Jennifer -
I found this amazing reader review on Amazon today. It's posted under Redeeming Vows but it really does a wonderful job of talking about the entire trilogy~
I love days like this!
I can't believe I nearly missed the conclusion to the MacCoinnich Time Travel Series! I just had no idea it had been released but I'm so glad I snatched it up in the nick of time! So many times, I encounter series' where one or a few books don't hold the same type of magic that the first had, and I'm pleased to say, this is not one of them! The three books in the series, Binding Vows, Silent Vows and now Redeeming Vows, read as a seamless piece of work, where characters stay true to the first time we encounter them and if changes do occur, they still remain true to character.
This book finally tells the story of Tara's sister (from Binding Vows) Liz and Duncan's brother (also from Binding Vows) Fin. The two first encounter each other in Silent Vows and I remember being drawn to them from the very start! The chemistry between these two were intense in the beginning and remain that way. Supporting characters in Redeeming Vows also have such strong personalities that I'd love to read more about them. Including Liz's son Simon, and the youngest MacCoinnich's, Cian and Amber. There is an art to being drawn to characters who don't take center stage in a book and Ms.Bybee definitely knows that art form well. From first encountering Fin in Binding Vows and then being introduced to Liz in Silent Vows, I have always wanted to see their story unfold, either separate or together, the same goes for the younger cast members in Redeeming vows. I feel they each would have interesting stories to tell. I'm trying not to give away too much, but this conclusion in the series has one final story with Grianna who has been the constant villain since we first encountered her in Binding Vows. Character powers unfold more in depth.
This book has an incredible amount of action and of course romance that keeps you wanting to know what's going to happen next. This was definitely a fitting conclusion and Catherine Bybee, I'm dying to read more of your work!

Save the Date!

Possessive has a release date - Drum roll please..............
March 23, 2011 - Yep, next month folks. Here is my official blurb and excerpt for you to warm up to.
Blurb:
Grief counselor Lauren Trousdale has no choice but to take her work home with her. A near-death experience left her with the ability to not only see, but also communicate with ghosts. The gift isn't one she dares reveal to anyone—certainly not to Dr. Ethan Bailey, the man she can't stop dreaming about. The ghosts are mostly kind, lost souls, but when a lovely, erotic dream about Ethan turns into a nightmare, Lauren wakes to an ice-cold room and the fear that she's not alone.
Ethan's attraction to Lauren blooms the first time he sees her. As they grow closer, he realizes she is hiding something, but never expects her secret to be a ghostly stalker. Ethan's only concern is protecting Lauren, but when the ghost becomes violent, Ethan must risk everything to save her. Can Lauren let him take that risk alone?
Excerpt:
He moved closer and pretended to remove
a piece of lint from her shoulder. Her emerald green
eyes left his and glanced at her clothing. When she
rounded her gaze on him again, he stood near
enough to enjoy the heat of her skin. His fingers
itched to touch the copper strand of hair that had
escaped its binding. Lauren sucked in a breath and
licked her lips, while staring at his. There it was
again, desire bouncing off her and whacking him
upside the head.
"Go out with me." It really wasn't a question.
More like, "Let's get this electrifying thing we both
want to explore going," but he left that part
unstated.
"What?" She still stared at his lips. It took all
his restraint not to lean down and respond to what
he hoped was an unconscious plea for a kiss.
"Dinner, tonight, after your shift." The words
slid from his lips in a soft easy flow. Her response
didn't take long.
"Okay," she whispered. Her one word caught in
his gut and moved lower into a tight knot of
excitement.
He lowered his chin and waited for her response.
Lauren pushed closer to him, the slight curve of her
breasts brushed against his chest, the sweet scent of
her floral perfume shot through his system. Sweet
Jesus, who's being derailed now?
He stayed there hovering over her lips. "Good,"
he finally said before shifting back on his heels.
"Good." Lauren stepped back. Her chest rose and
fell with each deep breath letting him know she was
as affected as he was.

Ticks me off!
*up on soapbox*
This is a message to anyone who has read my work through the illegal downloads over the net. If you downloaded my work for free, and it wasn't something you won through a contest I offered... and you're not a reviewer... what can I say other than "That sucks"
I found yet another thread of "Oh, yeah... we can download Catherine Bybee's work for free" with 95 thumbs ups - I don't know who you are angelbabe1980 - but did you know that you're hurting me the author? I'd be happy to tell you where the best price is to buy my work. But when you tell the world about pirated books, you're hurting the authors who really don't make a ton of money in the first place.
I've even found people writing reviews on Soul Mate after they say they've 'picked it up last week' - Soul Mate has been out of print for months. Months! The only place you can get it is on a site stealing from me.
I'm disappointed. I want fans, want people to enjoy my work... but is it too much to ask that you fork over the cost of a Latte for a few hours of pleasure?

Toot! Toot!!!
I love it when a reviewer gives me words I can use over and over.
Talking Two Lips Reviews gives Embracing the Wolf 4 1/2 lips.
Embracing the Wolf by Catherine Bybee is the fast-paced, tension-packed, and sometimes amusing sequel to Max and Janet's story in Before the Moon Rises. Much like its predecessor, I had a hard time putting Embracing the Wolf down. It picks up approximately eight months after the first book ends, continuing Max and Janet's story as a sub-plot culminating in the birth of their baby. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I'd still recommend you read Before the Moon Rises for full appreciation of Max and Janet's continuing storyline. It's nicely ties up all of Max and Janet's loose ends. Plus, I loved seeing the very put-together Max come apart at the seams at the birth of his and Janet's baby.
If like me, you're tired of the same old immediate attraction thing between a werewolf and his mate, don't let that issue deter you from reading this book. Ms. Bybee is absolutely one of the best authors out there at character development. From page one, she makes you feel her characters' emotional ups and down at gut level, as if you're living the story as you read it. In this one, she dumps you right into the action on the opening page, quickly establishing an engrossing plotline. And she presents a chemistry factor between Kate and Richard that encompasses enough doubts by them both to make for an absolutely believable instantaneous relationship. The love scenes between them are very sensual, yet sweet enough for the most timid of readers.
Nice, huh? Pick up your copy today! Both titles will be available at the Expo signing at the Romantic Times Convention. Or buy it now and stop by so I can sign a card and chat with my readers. Can't wait to meet some of you who live in my computer.
