Ticks me off!

*up on soapbox*
This is a message to anyone who has read my work through the illegal downloads over the net. If you downloaded my work for free, and it wasn't something you won through a contest I offered... and you're not a reviewer... what can I say other than "That sucks"

I found yet another thread of "Oh, yeah... we can download Catherine Bybee's work for free" with 95 thumbs ups - I don't know who you are angelbabe1980 - but did you know that you're hurting me the author? I'd be happy to tell you where the best price is to buy my work. But when you tell the world about pirated books, you're hurting the authors who really don't make a ton of money in the first place.

I've even found people writing reviews on Soul Mate after they say they've 'picked it up last week' - Soul Mate has been out of print for months. Months! The only place you can get it is on a site stealing from me.

I'm disappointed. I want fans, want people to enjoy my work... but is it too much to ask that you fork over the cost of a Latte for a few hours of pleasure?

I am so sorry Catherine. That would be painful only because it is just wrong to take what is not yours. I have tried not to even watch movies when copied for me or music. Hard on the artists, be them authors, musicians or painters. Stealing is stealing. No other way to describe it.

I am really sorry.

Catherine Just bums me out. It isn't like they found me on the quarter rack at the swap-meet. They are reading books that have never been purchased. UGH.

OMG! How did they get their hands on them Catherine? On a site or what? How can you stop it from going on?

Question for you? Is your book up as a pdf or did they turn it to pdf. Trying to figure out how to stop this, really.

Catherine, my husband just found out that your publisher has your books on line in pdf files. Which means they could be ripped off by anyone. No pdfs should be offered online. You can talk to him about this if you like. He is a computer techy. vizvanna@gmail.com his name is Steve.

Catherine PDF's are the way many people download books after paying. All publishers that I know of do this. I know that anyone can rip them off and spread them around... it just ticks me off that there are huge forums of people screaming to get their books for free... and then cheer when they do. Welcome to e-books and how easy it is to pirate them. Sucks, though! Thanks for shaking your fist with me! Nice to know I have folks on my side.

:( I guess since my publisher goes through Amazon, that is not one of the problems facing me.

I am truly sorry.

Catherine There are plenty of ways to pirate a book. Keep an eye out. The brats find a way.
