Principal From the Black Lagoon
Today my children gave me a Mother's Day gift.
It was the book, The Principal from the Black Lagoon. I remember reading the Scholastic "Black Lagoon" books to my students years ago. When I started my job as Principal at Central Christian Academy, the four year old class at the school were making up all kinds of stories. Like my office was painted black and I had a great big paddle. I have to admit the first week on the job caused a sense of fear that simply came from the "unknown". The...

Leaving Everything
I'm still spending time with God in Luke and this morning was in Chapter 5. Earlier in the week I shared about being sure of something and that I was contemplating a huge job change. If you missed that post click here. My message that day was pretty clear from God, that I shouldn't doubt and that I should just shut up and listen to Him. Inside my heart I'm pretty confident in what my decision needs to be.
However, this last week a few of my circumstances changed. Leaving behind what you are ...

What Every Christian Should Know About Jewish People
What Every Christian Should Know About Jewish People
by Sheryl Young
If you're like me. You don't know a lot of people who are Jewish. And those of your friends that are, you probably avoid the topic of faith with them. You know that they are God's chosen people, that Jesus himself was a Jew, and that their people never accepted Jesus as the Messiah. But beyond that, you don't know how to explain to a Jewish person how they've misunderstood the Gospel. Since Little Pot's story only speaks of...

How Can I Be Sure?
That's been the question I've been asking God the past few days. This morning, God shed some "light" (pun intended) on it for me. I began reading the book of Luke this morning. I right away began to identify with Zechariah and what happened with him in the temple. Here's a few points that I could identify with -
1. vs. 6 -He was upright in the sight of the Lord. His wife was too.
(Meaning, he observed the Lord's commandments )- Even so, his wife Elizabeth was barren.
I've been "upright" in...

Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trust God by Sheila Walsh
This book will help you see if you are trusting God. To live a life where we completely and totally trust God can be a Christian's greatest challenge. Sheila illustrates what that life should be through personal examples and stories of different characters in the Bible.
Reading this book made me feel as though I'm was sitting in a coffee shop with Sheila having a face to face discussion. It was as if she knew what I was thinking...

Happy Birthday Dr Suess – Here's one of my favorites.
In honor of Dr Suess' Birthday I thought it would be fun to watch one of my all time favorite Dr Suess' stories. I don't need to articulate the wonderful lessons within this story. Beyond the ideas that we each continually want to fit in and that we should accept everyone. – Keep in mind how Jesus wants us to stand apart and show love to others. Enjoy the video. I never get tired of watching it. And then share with me below what your favorite Dr Seuss books are and why.
