Copyediting and Proofreading

I read information in the Dummies book today that led me to conclude that it was more valuable than I first thought. I will use some of this information when I edit the book. I worked on COPAL today. I'm over 78k now. My goal is at least 100k words. I'm not too worried about reaching that amount. I more worried that the book will be too long.
Sometimes when I don't feel like writing the books that I've been working on, I sidetrack to other material. There are a lot of books in the Mackenzie Rock world that I'd like to write, so occasionally I work on one of those.

Segues

The most difficult parts of a book to write are the segues between the scenes. One way I try to get these segues, is to write down the sequence of events in the next main scene. Once I can see that, I can get an idea of what needs to happed to get to the beginning of the scene. The book on Copyediting and Proofreading is disappointing so far. It's more about getting a job as a copyeditor or a proofreader, so I cannot recommend it to writers at this point. Maybe it will get better.

Too Many Books

I received in the mail today, a book titled, "Copyediting and Proofreading for Dummies." (I notice that the spell check does not like the word,'copyediting.') As a writer who cannot afford to hire a proofreader, this seemed like a good book to purchase. Alas, this means that I now have six books with bookmarkers. (What you don't like bookmarkers either?)
Better news is that on the way back from picking up my pills from Kaiser, I thought of the next exciting scene for "The Colors of Passion and Love." Humm, the sudden attack, Magesty's anguish, Elly's expectation of death, the horns of the savage horse, the eyes slowly losing the light of life, the red sunset. Yep, that oughtta do it. (Wait, isn't oughtta a word! It's gotta be.)

Moving on over

I finished working on Sarah's Spaceship Adventure for the moment and I'm moving to The Colors of Passion and Love. But I have a few books to read, so today I concentrated on those. Plus, the plumeria trees on the farm needed watering. That got accomplished in time to start watering the peach trees and the bamboo. Tomorrow I will start the water on the ornamental Black Olives. Also trimmed some of the hibiscus trees.

Aloha

Aloha from Maui,
I'm Stan Morris, author of "Surviving the Fog." This is my first blog although I update the home page of my website fairly often. I'm presently working on two books. The first is a science fiction romance titled, "Sarah's Spaceship Adventure." The second is a fantasy titled, "The Colors of Passion and Love." I try to write every day. Some days, I don't feel like working on my main books, so I take a side trip into my imagination and work on something else. Today I worked on SSA, but I also jotted down some paragraphs in a new book, "Jara Mackenzie Versus the Planet Marl." This book is set in the same universe as SSA.
