WRAITHSHARD: WRATH & BATTLE progress update!

Starting the week at 60,000 words of WRAITHSHARD: WRATH & BATTLE, which puts me on Chapter 12 of 20. I think we’ll end up at around 90,000 to 100,000 words by the time the rough draft is done.

Still hoping to have the rough draft done by (American) Thanksgiving, which is November 26th, but we’ll see.

The Mandalorian vs. Story Structure

I’ve been watching THE MANDALORIAN and have come to two conclusions:

1.) I like it better than the STAR WARS sequel trilogy.

2.) Every episode is a good example of story structure.

Like, you can see the structure in every episode. I don’t mean that scornfully, but with high praise. Story structure is harder to do than people realize. But you can see the bones of good structure in each episode:

1.) Mando has a problem.

2.) Mando sets out to resolve his problem.

3.) Unexpected difficulties arise when Mando tries to solve his problem.

4.) Some of Mando’s efforts to resolve his problem backfire and cause additional problems and complications.

5.) Through courage and cleverness, Mando overcomes his problem. Until the next episode, anyway.

It’s really well done. It’s also a nice touch that Mando isn’t a Space Wizard or the Chosen One, but just a guy who had good training and some good equipment. So if you want to see good examples of excellent story structure, you could do much worse than watching THE MANDALORIAN.

GHOST IN THE VISION now on Barnes & Noble!

I am pleased to report that after a delay, GHOST IN THE VISION is finally available on Barnes & Noble!

(If you want to know why it took so long, there’s a good summary of Nook’s tech troubles here.)

While 2020 has basically been a year of God hitting the $TRIGGER_RANDOM_EVENT button over and over again, I have to admit I didn’t think one of those events would be “Barnes & Noble Gets Hacked And Can’t Upload New Material For Three Weeks.” It all got resolved, of course, but I might rethink some publishing options when I start my new series (whatever that turns out to be) in 2021. Perhaps it’s time to look at direct sales through something like Payhip or Patreon or Gumroad.

But! In the meantime, GHOST IN THE VISION is finally available through Barnes & Noble, and it’s still on Amazon USAmazon UKAmazon DEAmazon CAAmazon AU, KoboApple BooksGoogle Play, and Smashwords.

Over 1/3 of the way there!

WRAITHSHARD: WRATH & BATTLE progress!

Now on Chapter 7 of 21 of WRAITHSHARD: WRATH & BATTLE.

If all goes well I would like to get to 60,000 words by the end of this week, but that might be a bit of reach. We’ll see!

WRAITHSHARD: WRATH & BATTLE underway!

Now that GHOST IN THE VISION is out, what’s next?

I am on Chapter 4 of 21 of WRAITHSHARD: WRATH & BATTLE, and if all goes well it will be out in December. I’ve also started on DRAGONTIARNA: VISIONARY, and that will become my new main project once WRAITHSHARD is finished.

If all goes well, here is what I hope the next few months will look like.

December: WRAITHSHARD: WRATH & BATTLE.

January: DRAGONTIARNA: VISIONARY.

February: GHOST IN THE TALISMAN.

GHOST IN THE VISION question & answer!

I think for Episode 54 of my podcast I would like to do a question and answer about GHOST IN THE VISION.

So if you have questions about GHOST IN THE VISION or the Caina series in general, leave them in the comments, and I’ll answer them in a few weeks for Episode 54.

Note that the questions will probably have spoilers about GHOST IN THE VISION, so if you haven’t read the book yet, you probably shouldn’t read the comments for this post.

GHOST IN THE VISION available at (almost) all stores!

I am pleased to report that GHOST IN THE VISION, the 7th book of the GHOST NIGHT series, is now available at (almost) all ebook stores! You can get it at Amazon USAmazon UKAmazon DEAmazon CAAmazon AU, KoboApple BooksGoogle Play, and Smashwords.

Unfortunately, it’s not available at Barnes & Noble yet. Barnes & Noble’s website is still recovering from the October ransomware hack, and it’s not taking new material quite yet. Hopefully the Nook site will be fully back up soon. In the meantime, if you buy the book from Smashwords, you can get an EPUB file that is compatible with Nook.
