My friend Tim Ball has a simply killer idea for his dream photo assignment, and with your help, he might get $50,000 to do it.

Please follow the link, do the painless sign-up, and vote for his project. He’s an enormously talented and big-hearted fellow, and his idea is worthy of your consideration.

Thank you.

More from Off the Leaf

Another engagement

I’m waiting on the final details, but it looks like I’ll be doing reading/signing at Parmly Billings Library on Monday, April 13. It’s part of the celebration of National Library Week.

Keep an eye on the events section for more information.

Update: The program will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 13.

The reading at Off the Leaf here in Billings was several hours ago. I was unbelievably nervous, much more than I had anticipated. I found it difficult to keep my place on the material, my hand was shaking so much.

And yet the laughs came where they were supposed to, and people said very kind things afterward. “Six-Hundred Hours” is not, on the whole, a funny book, but it has a few light moments, and the selection I read was meant to be humorous. I’m glad that intent was valida

What are you doing Tuesday?

Russell Rowland — the highly acclaimed author of “In Open Spaces” and “The Watershed Years” — is hosting an open-mic reading at Off the Leaf, 819 Grand Avenue in Billings, on Tuesday (March 10). It starts at 7 p.m.

I’ll be there. I hope you will be, too.

Meet my commercial half

Say hello to A Mind Adrift Creative Works, the business.

I created the business to act as the publishing and marketing arm for my books, and that will continue to happen. But I’m also throwing my background as an editor out there in the service of businesses, individuals and organizations that need help with professional communications. I’m a professional typo zapper, if you will.

Please feel free to cruise around the site.
