Book Review: Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler

Parable of the Sower

Let's talk about Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler.

Short Review of Parable of the Sower: Read this book. This is some of the most important climate fiction you'll ever read. It's profound, prophetic, deeply intersectional, and an absolutely riveting read.

My Reviews of Climate Change Games on Itch.io

Fan art by Treesong based on itch.io logo

Have you ever played games on itch.io?

itch.io is a fun and easy way to find and share indie games online. You can create an account to play or upload games for free. Game creators decide whether to offer their games for free or charge players for access. The result is a delightful catalog of hundreds of thousands of free and affordable indie games.

As a climate fiction author and climate justice advocate, I'm always on the lookout for creative content related to climate change. So I decided to see if itch.io has any games related to climate change. When I found out that they do, I decided to review their climate change games.

All fifty-eight and counting!

Climate Christmas Carols

Climate Christmas Carols Caroling image by Gustavo Rezende from Pixabay

I'm pleased to announce that my climate parody song, I Want Climate Justice For You, has been included in a new climate music collection!

Climate Christmas Carols is a new collection of climate-themed Christmas carols collected and edited by Franz for Future. This wonderful collection features 72 Advent and Christmas carols whose lyrics have been adapted to make a statement about the climate crisis. It includes some songs in English and others in German. Credit is given to both the original songwriters and the individuals or groups who wrote the new climate lyrics.

Some of these songs are funny. Others are serious. Some of them are both funny and serious. All of them help in their own way to raise awareness about the climate crisis and what we can do for climate justice.

Eight billion humans? Good! I love humans.

Eight Billion Humans? Good! I Love Humans.

According to a recent UN report, the world population of human beings reached eight billion people on approximately November 15, 2022.

Eight billion humans? Good! I love humans.

Unfortunately, this major milestone in human history has triggered another wave of population control discourse on social and traditional media. All of the discourse I've reviewed so far is coming from either a climate perspective or broader environmental perspective.

As an advocate for environmental justice and climate justice, I feel compelled to say a few words about why this population control discourse is a problem and what we can do about it.

Halloween is a great time to read spooky stories. In honor of Halloween, I've published two of my spookiest climate fiction short stories as ebooks!

Both of these short stories are now available on my Ko-fi page as standalone ebooks.

Members can read both short stories for free! If you're not a member, these stories are $1 each. Either way, it's a great opportunity to read a spooky horror story with a climate twist.
