ABO Public Conversation among Editors
The three of us (Devoney Looser, Caitlin Kelly, and Melinda O’Connell) worked together to co-edit Jane West’s A Gossip’s Story, and A Legendary Tale (1796), a novel that has been described as a starting point, if not the inspiration, for Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility (1811). We had a chance to have a conversation about that process over on ABO Public. So grateful to our publisher and editor, Jay Jenkins, and Valancourt Books, as well as to Aphra Behn Online for the chance to talk about our faculty/graduate student/undergraduate student editorial collaboration.

International Conference on Romanticism at Colorado College
Profs. Jared Richman and Bill Davis organized an amazing meeting of the InternationalConference on Romanticism at Colorado College in late October. I presented one of the keynotes, "Dark Austen."
As if that wasn't amazing enough, they also threw a Monster costume ball at conference's end, setting a new high bar for culminating experiences.

CU-Boulder Lecture: "The Making of Jane Austen
In late September, I had the chance to speak at CU-Boulder to a great group of faculty and students on "The Making of Jane Austen." I'm grateful to the multi-talented English PhD student Grace Rexroth for designing this incredible poster to publicize the talk.

TLS Review for A Gossip's Story
I've got a big smile today because the TLS reviewed our edition of A Gossip's Story (1796) by Jane West, published by Valancourt Books, in the "In Brief" section of its Aug. 12th issue!

ASU Connected Academics Champion Mentor
If you receive the same award as ASU's Prof. Ron Broglio, it means you're doing something right! Both of us were named Champion Faculty Mentors of Connected Academics @ ASU. We sang a little off-key Queen (with deep humility) at the banquet table and seriously celebrated how lucky we are to work with ASU's inspiring, talented grad students. Learn more about Connected Academics--a program to help prepare doctoral students in languages and literature for a variety of careers--on the MLA's website.

Article and Previously Unpublished 1798 ms. in TSWL
I'm excited about this just published article "Mary Wollstonecraft, 'Ithuriel,' and the Rise of the Feminist Author-Ghost" (behind paywall) from Tulsa Studies in Women's Literature. It features a previously unpublished manuscript as its appendix. The 1798 story, "Ithuriel," deserves a lot more attention from readers and scholars, as it imagines a conversation among dead feminists Mary Wollstonecraft, Lady Jane Grey, Aspasia, Boadicea, and Sappho.
