Making Austen in NYT & NYTBR Podcast
Heavens to Darcy x2! Celebrating the New York Times's mention of my forthcoming book,
The Making of Jane Austen
, in the March 25th Arts Section, p. C6. As if that weren't happiness enough, the New York Times Book Review's podcast's Jenny Schuessler gives the book a shout-out and thumbs up in the 24 March podcast, from the 41-44 min. mark. It's a great year to be a Janeite and a Jane Austen scholar.

Why I Teach Online
I have an essay published today in The Chronicle of Higher Education, "Why I Teach Online." I hope faculty colleagues who are skeptical of online education will reconsider their positions on the value of this pedagogical mode.

International Women's Day Blog Post
It goes way beyond Jane Austen and Mary Shelley. I'm happy to shine a spotlight on women's writing in the Romantic period, in Cambridge University Press's blog series, FifteenEightyFour, to celebrate International Women's Day: http://www.cambridgeblog.org/…/international-womens-day-sp…/

Bungy & Keynote
What do you do before giving a conference keynote in New Zealand? Why, go bungy jumping with an intrepid colleague, of course! So glad to be here at the University of Otago for the Family Ties Conference, expertly co-organized by Dr. Thomas McLean and Dr. Ruth "Go Ahead and Jump" Knezevich.

Publisher's Weekly Spring 2017 Top 10 Lists
Top 10 in Essays & Literary Criticism
Thanks, Publisher's Weekly, for the vote of confidence in my book, The Making of Jane Austen!
PW named it to its Top 10 list in the Essays & Literary Criticism section, for forthcoming titles in Spring 2017. As PW puts it, they "look into our crystal ball to predict which books will stand out in the early months of 2017—which will make it to the top, in terms of attention, sales, and awards and prizes. We present hundreds of adult titles that we expect good things from, with the goal of offering booksellers, librarians, and others in the industry insight into the upcoming season. Our editors selected 50 titles, including a top 10, in each of 15 categories, considering thousands of books publishing from Feb. 1 to July 31, 2017.” So honored to be on this list!
If you want to make sure an early copy makes its way to you, you could pre-order The Making of Jane Austen at a 30 percent discount (using code HDPD).
