Gone...

The fine folks at Dark Regions Press have just confirmed that the Deluxe version of Charnel Wine: Memento Mori Edition is now officially sold out! Both Dark Regions and I are thrilled with this fact. My heartfelt thanks to all those who ordered a copy, and to those who tried to obtain one after number 26 was snatched up.

If you missed out on one of the Deluxes, you still have a chance to read the book (though admittedly in not so luxurious or collectible a format). News on the trade paperback ...

The Grim Bottle's Half-Empty (or Half-Full if you prefer)

I've been informed that only half of the Deluxe copies of Charnel Wine: Memento Mori Edition remain available. A tremendous thank-you to those who have reserved a copy. Considering that the book went up for pre-order less than two weeks ago, I'm pleasantly surprised at how swiftly the Memento Mori Edition has been moving. If you are planning on placing an order for the Deluxe, please do so. I wouldn't want you to miss out.

I confess, the description of the new Dark Regions Press edition has m...

Alan Moore Knows the Score

To all writers: listen, learn, and take a few moments to comprehend why you are a magician, even if you didn't know it.

Readercon 21

I will be attending Readercon 21 this weekend in Massachusetts. Once again my travelling compadres will be Simon Strantzas and Ian Rogers. Last year's was one of the best conference experiences I've had. I'm looking forward to much of the same this year.

It's always refreshing to be among those whose love for ideas and the printed word is genuine and deep. Why, even now I can almost detect that wonderful scent of vintage paper wafting out from the dealers' room...

This week I completed the sign...

Sale to Fantasy and Science Fiction

It was a Challenge From Beyond, by way of Austin, TX.

Though this project had its impetus with the original Lovecraft Circle in the 1930s, it was Don Webb's notion to take up the gauntlet. He contacted the following writers:
Walter C. DeBill Jr.
W.H. Pugmire
Robert M. Price
Jeffrey Thomas
yours truly
His Challenge? To have the six of us pen an original round robin of Lovecraftian Horror. No pre-plotting, no consultation, just keep the story afloat until it reached its own conclusion. Given the...

REALM reviewed in Black Static

Issue 17 of Black Static , the excellent British magazine of dark fiction, features Peter Tennant's flattering review of The Darkly Splendid Realm. Peter's got a keen critical eye and his critiques can really teach a writer a lot about their work, so I'm grateful that he took the time to review my book.

One of his kind statements:

"Richard Gavin is one of the most distinctive writers of weird fiction to emerge in the past few years"

Nice.

The new issue also features stories by Stephen Volk, John S...

Curriculum Vitae

I've spent most of today flicking through dusty old 'zines, archived internet files, and anthologies to finally compile a curriculum vitae of my work. You can read the fruits of this labour by clicking the new CV tab at the top of this page.

This list contains all my published stories, from my first sale in 1997 up to 2010 publications. There may be one or two obscure tales that I've forgotten and will have to add down the line, but the CV is quite complete as of today.

At some point I may do t...
