Will Jordan was born in Fife, Scotland in 1983. He is best known as the author of the RYAN DRAKE series of action thrillers, and for his YouTube alter-ego, THE CRITICAL DRINKER, amassing well over a million followers and quickly becoming one of the most popular movie critics on the internet. Having always enjoyed a passion for storytelling, he began writing short stories from a young age, eventually moving up to full-length novels and the publication of his first Ryan Drake novel in 2012.

Also I'm hoping to publish a novella shortly before this, but more details on that later.

As for how long the series has left, that's tough to say! I'm contracted for at least 3 more books by my UK publisher, and there are certainly a few more scrapes for Drake to get into along the way. Obviously every story to end eventually, but as for Drake himself... well, there are a lot of places I plan to take his character development first. That's what I enjoy most about this series - watching Drake and his companions change and develop with each book.

Right from the start I knew this series was going to make a mark on all its characters. They don't just press the reset button at the start of each new book, they remember and grow from their experiences. Sometimes that makes them stronger and better people, sometimes it doesn't...(less)

Great question! Yes, Cain is very much the Big Bad of this series, and there were three aspects of his character that were important to me:

1. I wanted someone who was more than a match for Drake and the others, perhaps not on a physical level but in terms of cunning, intelligence and experience, and Cain fits the bill. He's the chess player you think you'll have in checkmate in five moves, except he'll beat you in four. He always has some other play, some hidden agenda.

2. He wasn't always the cold, ruthless, driven man we see in this series. I always saw him as something of a fallen hero; a man with noble ideals who tried to do the right thing only to gradually compromise and lose sight of his original aims. It's been mentioned several times that he and Anya have a complex shared history, which has gradually come to light over the past few books. But the real details and extent of their relationship have remained hidden until now. What we see in the next book might just change how people view him.

3. The thing that was most important for Cain (and I suppose, any antagonist in my books) was to give him a logical goal that the reader can identify with. Cain's not out to topple governments or kill innocent civilians for the sake of being evil - he's pursuing a bigger objective that will gradually become clear as the story unfolds. It's just his methods, and how far he's willing to go, that set him apart from the more heroic characters. My intention is to give the reader something to think about when considering if he's truly a monster.

Samuel Hello again Mr Jordan. You probably know that I got Ghost Target for my smartphone on Android Google Play Books. I read it and finished it. My verdict? I loved the book.

There are many things I want to say but I'll stick with the most important. The ending. Such bravery in picking that path, won my admiration. I consider you the most courageous spy novelist of the year. Don't fear the narrow minded reviews which bitch and moan about the creative choice you made.

As a great man once said:

"“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

You are one of the men in the arena of thriller writing.
You have proven yourself willing to not be one of those timid writers who neither seek to dare greatly or have any vision for their work. There are many of those people out there. It is a pleasure to find someone like yourself who defies such timidity.

In conclusion, I thank you for writing such a fine spy thriller which managed to provoke some very passionate reactions from me.
