Like an eagle taken away through a nice explorative flight over the clouds, I was taken away by the sweet delicacies within the Hotel Pullman Bali Legian Nirwana. Early in the morning, the tranquility of my surroundings had welcomed me into the day with a big smile, and as the sun was setting down on the horizon a few hours later, I had to find something to do before heading home. After a long and stressful month at work, I had earned a rest. I needed to go to a place where the environment and the people would allow me to do nothing but unwind. So my mates and I ended up finding our solace at IP Rooftop Bar; the best place to freshen up and view the world.
Majestically climbing towards the beautifully designed rooftop, I had the privilege of enjoying the fresh air that surrounds the hotel. Upon getting to the Rooftop, I was wowed by the nice architecture and interiors within the bar.
Sitting at an angle where I could clearly observe all directions, I glanced at the calm to the east and the blood red sphere on the west as it bid us good bye till morrow. On my east was a calm sky, while the red sun covered the west of the horizon almost 100 metres away from where I sat. I enjoyed the beauty of the azure waters of the Indian Ocean and the beauty of Kuta Beach. What an ecstatic appearance this scene was to me. Everything seemed to slow down. I didn’t hear anything but the wind. All the rush from the streets turned into slow motion.
The drinks which graced the menu proved just how fancy the drinking culture really is at this venue. Just as I was about to forget the beautiful sunset I had witnessed, a glance at the stunning sunset photos kept that experience ever blazing in my thoughts all throughout my time at this marvellous place.
At this trendy rooftop bar, drinks were served accordingly. Looking around I noticed people having a great time with their mates or lovers. The dishes being served on the tables looked exactly how they had been described on the menu, and the DJ was playing the perfect songs. Taking advantage of the Wi-Fi connection, I was also able to update myself on current affairs.
All of a sudden, it was 7 o’clock already. As Michael Jackson said in one of his songs, “Like a comet blazing cross the evening sky… gone too soon,” and so was the sunset. That was my cue to finish my drink and head home to my loved ones. As I waited for the elevator, I promised myself that I would come back here. IP Rooftop Bar has now become one of my favourite spots to chill. Now I know where to go after a deadline. Yup, sunset & sip.

The first time I set foot on Ubud 5 years ago, I was filled with wonder and inquisition as to how such serenity prevailed on mother earth. Things indeed changed a lot at this part of the island, but one thing that still hasn’t, though, the freshness air that warmly welcomed me last week when I travelled there. As I strolled down the path leading to Chapung SeBali Resort and Spa where I have booked for a night, I knew I was taking my family to experience something different.
Chapung Sebali Resort and Spa allowed me to experience the richness of Bali’s natural resources through the exquisiteness of breathtaking scenery. Discovering Indonesian culture and environment while relaxing is definitely the most rewarding treat that I can give to my loved ones. I have to admit that the property itself has a lot to offer, not only for physical and intellectual value but also for my eyes.
As I waltzed through the huge wood door into the matchless oasis of tranquility, the spacious living room greeted saying “Welcome Home”. The exquisite luminance from the sun and musical instrument of the wild birds made me feel as if God was bestowing the wisdom of life. Private swimming pool awaited us next to the –full of lush natural surrounding– garden. I imagined myself taking a dip, lolling under the warm sun on the outdoor chaise lounges and poolside chairs. So I finally sat there, on the garden seats, and basking on the hot sunlight with my wife. Systemically and periodically, we glanced at each other and then appreciated our lovely daughters enjoying their time in the pool.
The two aesthetically rooms are designed with masterly artwork in mind. The dining room and living area were overlooking a stunning scenery filled with fresh flowers and lush greenery. It was as if we were overlooking the Garden of Eden. As I noticed the quality of the furniture, they were world class furniture made from hardwood with splendid artistic designs. In a nutshell, all the designs featured things that were a real feast for our eyes and the environment, a real definition of tranquility. The comfort of the sofa and the pleasing warmth had their effect on me, and I was dozing off before long. In the early morning, we decided to try the unique healing yoga. The instructor was a professional yoga guru who showed us the way to the eternal bliss. That’s the most wonderful thing anyone can experience in their life. The yoga was not just a set of physical movements, but more to a deep meditation which connected our soul and the physique. An attractive garden view certainly added a therapeutic essence and helped in our path to eternal happiness. Personally for me, that was a moment of family bonding end up being.
Referring to the famous quote by Carl Sagan “Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere,” It’s not enough to live on to your imagination only. We all deserve a life changing treat.

A night out with your wife is truly romantic in a stunning resort such as Awarta Nusa Dua Luxury Villas & Spa. On booking into the place, we realized that not only were we going to enjoy our time in their one-bedroom pool villa, but we would also enjoy the 24-hour open amenities within the resort. The welcoming environment we encountered not only made as secure but the azure pool also made us to feel at home. Immaculate and luxurious, the villa cannot be faulted in anyway.
As soon as we waltzed into the main entrance, their friendly and experienced staff catered our individual needs. While the staff directed us to our new “home”, I was amazed to see a soothing ambience around me. Inside the villa, the one bedroom that we stayed was a real luxury. A stunning swimming pool complete with timber deck welcomed us along the gorgeous teakwood floors. I didn’t know that the sense of tranquility I was experiencing was just the tip of an iceberg. Much more was still to come. With a private pool and spacious outdoor and indoor dining and living areas, I can visualized the romantic moments I was about to experience with my wife. There is nothing as rejuvenating as a romantic time with your loved one. As we were lying and playing around our space side by side and staring at each other, we just felt like we were somewhere outside the universe. We felt the solidity of a family within this hidden, treasured haven of tranquility. Awarta seemed teaching us that the real sense of romance revolves around this small but beautiful haven.
The villa was beautifully designed with the up-to-date amenities fixed all over. The mixture of modern Chinese–European cultures in design, comfort, facilities and food come together to create a blend of quality and opulence. New style furnishings and neoteric Asian décor complemented by unique pieces of art displayed beautifully in every corner of the villa; elevate the lavish and flexible spaces beyond the predictable. Glass sliding door on the upper level led us to the private balcony overlooking the pool and clear horizon, allow us to wake up in the morning and feel freshness of the day. Lying motionless on the pool sightseeing the shooting star on the lovely ambience of the evening is highly recommended. The enthralling of moonlight reflection in the swimming pool amongst the heavenly surroundings will create the attainment of peacefulness and make your heart racing to feel the exhilaration.
In my personal perspective, Awarta Nusa Dua Luxury Villas & Spa has been designed in the abstract way of understanding to dazzle every living soul. Guaranteed to provide services demanded by five-star hotel guests, their discreet yet attentive service of staff will take care of every need to provide guests with the comfort, luxury and personal services that make your holiday memorable. As for me personally, staying in Awarta is the moment when all the troubles back home burst out of inside me into one untraceable memory. I shall embrace this fraction blast of paradise and let it linger in my memory.

Taking a cooking class as an indoor activity is sometimes easy to do. You just have to know where to look. Look around the area where you’re staying at and you might be surprised there’s one going on right now. We don’t always have to go outside for fun and adventure. Cooking is an adventure of its own. A cooking class helps you understand why you need to cook healthy dishes. It gives your meals a new meaning to the word food. You are what you eat.
The famous Spanish Chef, Ferran Adrià, once said that “You cannot get an influence from the cuisine of a country if you don’t understand it. You’ve got to study it.” Different cuisines around the whole world have a history attached to them. Just like many countries in the world, Indonesia happens to be blessed with rich history, traditions, arts and cultures and the various culinary are part of this wide scope of wealth.
Hotel Tugu Bali is one of the perfect places to study the countries’ cuisines. Not just the fact they have cooking lesson as hotel’s activity, but also getting a unique experience where centuries year-old tradition Javanese and Bahasa Indonesia culinary arts are on display is something that you definitely want to experience. It will open the doors to a glimpse into the beautiful simplicity and the exotic richness of Indonesian dining and cooking culture.
The classes are held by their high-qualified-sixty-year-old Indonesian chef, who dedicated her life to the hotel since ages ago. The cooking journey begins with an early morning visit to a Balinese traditional market where all the freshest ingredients of the archipelago of islands can be found amidst the daily bustle of modern day market life. While gathering the ingredients for the cooking class, guests will be involved in and experience firsthand in the Balinese way of daily living, the jovial and sometimes noisy bargaining style of the vendors and buyers.
Once all set, now it’s time to cook! Each spice has a story, each herb has a fragrance and when combined with meats and vegetables they turn into a medley of culture and history. Each bite becomes a memory of something you created, for every time you create that dish, it is something you will remember forever. Each dish you create is a testament to the oral history of the cook.
The chef and her assistant will guide you through the entire process of the cooking. Thus, worry not on how your dishes are going to end up. They are going to be succulent. Have faith on yourself.
When the dishes were finally ready to serve, I got really excited. I was going to share my creation; giving a part of me to someone else. As the guests took their first bite, I could almost feel their reaction. That smile, the kind words, the empty plate were a vindication to your prowess as a chef. The second rhea ask for seconds is a climax of joy and excitement. A testament that you learned a new dish, you are a creator of something magical, food.

There is no dearth of places to stay in Bali. It is easy to find something to suit any budgets. I have stayed in backpacker rooms to hotels to hostels. While each has its merits, I decided to splurge the cash on my next visit to the gorgeous islands. Hunting for a luxurious place to stay, I stumbled upon Villa Oberoi. I wasted no time and called up my friends and three families got aboard the plane to Bali.
I felt that extravagance would be a new experience in enjoying the beauty of Bali and I was not disappointed. It started from the moment we stepped foot on Bali. Gleaming cars were waiting to take us to the villa. On reaching the villa, we had to stop for a moment to admire the sight in front. The kids had a hard time suppressing their glee and who could blame them? Even we had a hard time believing that we were about to spend a week in this opulent mansion.
We were cordially received by the manager, who took us on a short tour around the place. There are four bedrooms, each more splendid than the other and one cozy children’s bedroom. With every step, there was only one thing escaping my lips, ‘Wow!’ I regret to say that I didn’t pay much attention to the manager, who proved to be a gracious host throughout our stay.
Coming back to the bedrooms, posh didn’t seem a good enough description for the place. Comfortable queen sized beds, LCD TVs and air conditioning were common to all rooms, except the children’s room where single beds were placed instead of queen sized ones. After all the things I had seen, I felt some respite was required. Therefore, imagine my surprise when I found that the rooms had their own private garden.
After unpacking, the most logical thing to do is to jump in the pool. Yes, the villa has its own private pool! Surrounded by green trees, the bowl of blue waters was relaxing. It was only an hour or so in the villa but I was in love.
A remarkable thing about the Villa Oberoi was that it was in the heart of Seminyak, a bubbling tourist hub. Yet, inside, I heard no noises from the crowds. I decided to head out for lunch, even though there was a kitchen in the villa. I was in for another surprise. I hadn’t pay attention to the roads while travelling to the villa as I could barely contain my excitement. Now, I realized, the main hub of Seminyak was only a walking distance from the villa.
Within ten minutes, I had reached the beautiful beach. It was as lovely as I had imagined it to be. Later, I headed back to the villa. As my heavy eyes drifted off to sleep, I realized it was going to be an incredible week in Bali.
Coco Chanel once said that ‘Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury’. Keeping that in mind, I have to say that this trip was one of the most luxurious.

I have seen many sides of Bali. I have experienced the intoxicating nightlife, took part in the raucous beach parties, surfed in the crystal blue waters, explored the verdant forests and drank the beauty of the sunsets. Out of them, I must say that I find peace in solitude.
Now, do not get me wrong. I love the crowds. They are friendly and jovial. However, there are times, when I need to get away from it all. That is why I chose the Villa Mona Umalas as my accommodation for my next short trip to Bali.
I travelled through the popular regions of the Seminyak region secure in the knowledge that I will soon pass them by. The villa is located at a 10 minutes distance from Seminyak but it is enough to ensure the solitude of the place.
I was greeted by the simplistic beauty of the minimalist villa, or rather the villa manager. The courteous man guided me through the various rooms and we struck up quite a friendship by the end of the stay. It’s the little things such as friendly locals which has made me fall in love with Bali.
I roamed around the structure whose gleaming white walls helped create an aura of serenity magnified by the lush green trees and plants around it and accentuated by the wooden design accents. Here, I realized, I had finally found what I was looking for: A spot of solitude drenched with tranquility.
The spacious rooms were luxurious but continued the simple minimalist design. In the bedroom, I was surprised to find a private garden. I could not help but exclaim, ‘lovely!’ when I laid eyes on the living room. I eased myself onto one of the luxurious couches while enjoying the view of the pool. Yes, you read that right. There is a pool inside the living room! I had to look at it for a few moments to realize that I wasn’t dreaming.
For a long time, I simply stared at the opulence and magnificence around me unable to do anything else. You would have done the same, I believe. The silence around me was punctured by the soft rustling of leaves and I started. Outside, the sun glittered over the infinity pool. The black stones imparted a dark hue to the waters and I eased into it without a thought. After all, I was in Bali. A swim is a must, even if it is a pool. If you have not yet swum in an infinity pool, you should make it a priority! I laid back and enjoyed the fantastic sight of the rich green background.
There are various entertainment facilities available but I had no need for them. After all, I had solitude and nature around me. The beach is never far and where there is a beach in Bali, you are sure to find something to enjoy there.
However, the one thing I will always remember the quiet solitude of the villa. After all, as they say, ‘There is beauty in solitude’.

When you visit Bali, you must prepare yourself for crowds. However, as I have discovered on my travels, there are places which are far from the madding crowd. These places are serene, tranquil and comfortable. The Villa Reflection in Seminyak is one of them. Located at a nice enough distance from the main hub of Seminyak, the ever popular tourist and party spot of Bali, the villa offered me a respite from the crowds. I needed a break and a private moment to relax in the beauty that Bali is famous for. The villa provided both in generous amounts.
Going by looks, the villa did not seem as much when I first laid eyes on it. The architecture and interior design were simplistic. However, as I settled in, I realized that it was rich with beauty. The teak floors looked gorgeous and I was stunned at the expansive living room tastefully decorated and replete with modern amenities.
The contemporary architecture grew on me and I often thought about it fondly after I had left. The elegant décor created a sense of warmth and richness. Most of all, it had privacy. After all, the villa was located at the very end of a cul-de-sac of a private street. In spite of its seemingly remote location, I realized I was never far from the beach or the important parts of Seminyak.
With a short walk, I reached the hub of Seminyak where shops, restaurants, bar and, of course, nightclubs were waiting for my patronage. Later, I walked back to the villa taking a short detour through the beach. As always, the beaches at Bali did not fail to impress. It is difficult to imagine a more beautiful place filled with such lovely beaches. Time could and did fly while watching the rigors of the sea.
On returning, I decided to end my day with a dip in the expansive pool that stretched for 25 meters. As I lay back in the pool surrounded by a lush garden, I watched the stars which always seemed to me to be more beautiful in Bali. The only sounds I heard in my reverie were the rustling of the palm trees in the breeze. The warm lighting of the rooms and the villa made the place seem magical.
The villa, I felt, was the perfect embodiment of the Bali lifestyle which is gorgeous, beautiful and has a rich character. The privacy and seclusion of the villa made my trip all the more enjoyable. Someone had once said that, ‘Serenity is found somewhere between the sky and sand’. At this villa, I had finally found serenity in Bali.

Enjoying the beauty of Bali from the comfort of an opulent villa is an experience that you are not likely to forget anytime soon. To have such an experience, I booked myself into Villa Kija for a few days.
I had seen pictures of this palatial villa but they did not prepare me for the actual sight. A car was ready to take me to the villa. As I enjoyed the relaxing sights of Bali on the way, I realized I was headed straight into the heart of Seminyak, a major tourist and party hub of Bali. I grunted as I felt my stay would be ruined by the noise. My fears were unfounded as all I heard once entering the villa were the soft music of the trees and leaves brushing in the wind and the flutter of my heart as I laid eyes on the villa.
The Villa Kija, I later found out, was a Japanese colonial building. The Japanese influence lingers in its sloping roof and architecture. The villa seemed like an oasis of peace amidst a lush green garden. I noticed the lagoon like pool a few steps away from the mansion. The pool was spectacular, surrounded by lush plants all around.
With barely concealed excitement, I stepped into the house. My first reaction was to blink several times. ‘Such beauty and luxury should be banned’ I thought, reeling from the splendor around me. Cozy couches, minimalist designs, airy windows and spacious rooms greeted me. With effort, I headed towards the bedroom where another pleasant shock waited me.
The bedroom was dominated by the huge king-sized bed. I decided to postpone my tour around the house for later as I needed a respite. I sank down on the cozy bed and wondered if I could withstand anymore surprises. The other rooms were just as lovely.
I headed out planning to visit the beach. I never reached the beach. I got stuck wandering the tropical gardens. A remarkable variety of trees and plants make up the gardens including mango tree, palm, frangipanis, traveler tree, dadapméras, yuccas, bougainvillea, hibiscus and crotons. I felt like those adventurers of old, moving through unexplored jungles waiting to uncover a discovery. Well, I did discover something. It was a beautiful fish pond with a quaint bridge passing over it.
As night fell, I went out in search of something else to enjoy. Within walking distance, I found a number of restaurants and nightclubs, including the popular spots such as Potato Head. I had a thoroughly enjoyable time. After all, it was Bali. There is no shortage of enjoyments here.
At night, I was grateful for the Jacuzzi. As the warm waters soothed my tired muscles, my mind wandered off. I have always known Bali to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. However, I had discovered a whole new way to experience its magnificent beauty. The villa’s attention to detail was amazing. An old quote floated into my head, ‘Luxury is in each detail’. That seemed apt for this villa.

It is difficult to get bored with Bali. There is always something new to enjoy in this spectacular place. This time, I made up mind to enjoy the beauty of the region from the lap of luxury. I feel Bali is one of those few places whose experience becomes better with luxury.
So with luxury and extravagance in mind, I booked myself into the Casa Mateo, in the heart of Seminyak. A car from the villa was there to pick me up from the airport. A short ride through the fashionable hub of Seminyak brought me to, what seemed like a resplendent dream of white at first sight, the villa. ‘I am going to enjoy this’, I thought.
The modern Balinese architectural style was apparent. With a walled compound and tropical gardens, it seemed as if I had my own little spot of paradise in Bali. For a moment, I felt at peace, with the tranquility of the villa only disturbed by the slight soft rustle of the trees. The ambiance was certainly luxurious. The sight of the manicured gardens and spotless white walls of the villa soothed my spirit.
After a relaxing dip in the pool, I decided to head out and experience Bali. One of the reasons I ended up selecting Casa Mateo was its proximity to the main attractions of Seminyak. 15 minutes later, I found myself on the Petitenget Beach, famous for its grey sands. Time flew by as I the grey sands being caressed by the crystal azure waters. There were few tourists there, which helped me lose myself in my reverie.
It was high noon by the time my reverie broke, thanks in part due to a few jovial tourists. I was preparing to ignore them when I noticed their golf clubs. After a short conversation, I found myself invited to a game of golf at the Nirwana Bali Golf Course the next day. ‘Come with us and see for yourself the greens that will make you speechless’ one of them said. ‘One of the best courses in Asia’ another added.
I must say that their descriptions did not do justice to the course. A more appropriate description would be, ‘Wow!’ which I proceeded to utter rather frequently during the game. The course is a visual masterpiece. The ocean seemed to be a dramatist’s delight and all around me, the lush landscapes seemed to be the intense work of a talented painter.
Later that day, I found myself again on the Petitenget Beach. I was just in time for the sunset. The sheer spectacle of the fiery hues of the sun setting into the ocean contrasted sharply with the darkness of the grey sands is not something that can be accurately described in words.
Back at the villa, I tucked into a fantastic meal course created by an expert cook. Then, I sat back and enjoyed the rapidly dwindling light creating a magical sight in the tropical garden. A few words by William Makepeace Thackeray floated into my mind, ‘What peace, what love, what truth, what happiness for all’.

Influenced by the health benefits that I had read, water treatment therapy at Thalasso Spa Ayana Resort is mandatory if you are around Jimbaran, as I did last week. Having been a culprit of some of the worst diets and an inhabitant of this polluted world, nothing was a guarantee that my body didn’t have toxins. These catapulted with the hassles and bustles of life, clear it is that my life was full of stress. Though not depressed, my muscles and mind needed rejuvenation from such physical and emotional stresses. Had I not heard of Thalassotherapy, today, my health condition could have been in another new high? But grateful I am because decisively I walked into the waters to have this great alternative treatment.
Rich in sea minerals and salts, the water has been proven to be medicinal. And rich of the desire to get detoxified, the waters had to prove medicinal on my body. But with neither skills nor experience, I had to submit myself to a specialist. A specialist she was, who ensured that the sea water proved medicinal to me thereafter.
A combination of a ritual that combines the sea minerals together with a unique “wet” facial and massage is what I can define my Thalassotherapy experience at Ayana’s Thalasso Spa. A staunch natural and alternative treatment advocate, it wasn’t such a big deal for me to make the decision of taking part in this therapy. On lying on the water-heated massage bed, the body wrap of the highly concentrated seaweed made a cold shrill to run down my spine for a moment. Soon, it is time for perspiration as a result of a speed up of the internal respiration.
No sooner had I relaxed and become adapted to this new environment, than were the overhead shower jets engaged. Warm sea water wall all over my body and within no time, the nice relaxing feel was all over my body. By the use of their special massage technique, I could feel the therapist’s forearms carefully massaging my body.
Feeling the harmony of the well done Thalassotherapy, my body parts once again came into harmony with one another. As the therapist carefully applied the balm all over me, and started doing what she knows the most, it dawned on me how much my body parts were not in a harmonious music with one another.
Like an eagle comes to perch after a long day of flying, I was feeling relax after the therapy. As a wise man used to say, “Value all the time you have together as they may end sooner than you think,” I valued all the time I had at the spa for clear to me that soon I would be no more here. Incredible results I got, that I still can’t fathom how. Relief from stress, tension and pain from my back, muscles and emotions I got. Conditions that I had thought would never be solved in me by the best of physicians. And as a result of that, credits and kudos be to Thalasso Spa at Ayana Resort.
