Figure Drawing at the library
This post was originally published July 2013.
Today we have a wonderful example of a user-driven arts program to share with you! Nathan Yeager joins us to discuss a group he started at his local library in Gig Harbor, Washington. I love the fact that his idea was a response to a need in the community – in this case, a lack of creative opportunities for non-professional artists who work during the day when many library programs are typically held. Enjoy! ~Laura
Can you tell us a bit about you...

In collecting resources for our Book to Art Club meeting onThe Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jacqueline Kelly, I found myself swimming in digital collections filled with GORGEOUS historical prints of flora and fauna. We’ve featured some of these collections before, but there are some others t...

Featuring: Anton Hecht and Flipbooks in Libraries
Anton Hecht is a UK artist who makes work across platforms. His work to create “linked communities through art concepts and across art forms often with the inclusion of technology” is interesting to us for many reasons, but the project that really caught our eye is the Flipbooks in Libraries project.
The Flipbooks in Libraries project started at Gateshead Libraries in the UK. Local illustrators were invited to create illustrated flipbooks in the margins of books that were then replaced on lib...

Meet the LAIP at ALA in San Francisco!
Hey hey, Incubators! I’m going to be representing the LAIPat ALA this year in San Francisco. If you’ll be attending the conference, I’d love to meet you and chat about the arts-incubating stuff happening at your library.
Honestly, I will probably look a little more crazed if you find me on the floor, fangirling over ARCs. Fair warning.
Below is arundown of where I’ll be and how you can find me. Hope to see you there!
