Coloring for Grown-Ups Programs in the Library

In case you haven’t heard, coloring programs for grown-ups are taking off at libraries! If you’re looking for an easy and accessible way for your library to host a creative program for adults, coloring might just be the way to go. Many libraries have hosted these programs as one-off events, but others are making them a regular part of their adult programming, not so different from a book club!

We’ve been documenting the evolution of The Labs at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh since 2012, when the project had just secured a pilot grant. Library Takeover: laying the foundation for YA-led cultural library programming

Today we are so pleased to present this article (the first of two) on the Library Takeover program, organized by Apples and Snakes, a performance poetry group based in the UK (check out their awesome library-based SPINE Festival work in our previous series). This program pairs youth who are interested in producing events at libraries with creative professional mentors who work in arts administration and production to organize large-scale cultural programs in libraries.
