Why you no have Patreon? I read your 'advice to the mid-career cartoonist' article with interest. I'm just starting out but I'm older than you. I'm an early career mid-life cartoonist. I still can't make stuff. I have to drag myself to the drawing table an

For me, accepting there’s very little $$ in comics has made me a much happier person, and I think been good for me creatively. I get a little money here and there, but it’ll never be enough to live on. C'est la vie.

Patreon… I dunno. I have never thought about it very much. I’d have to figure out what to offer people that they might want. Maybe when I feel like I am back in the swing of things in terms of making comics it’ll be something I attempt. There’s no harm in trying. I was talking about Patreon with some cartoonist friends, and some of them expressed fear of being embarrassed if nobody signed up to support them, but really there’d nothing to be embarrassed by. Nobody’s paying attention. It feels more like people take notice if you have a wildly successful Patreon campaign than a modest one.
