Sketchbook comic about Kajieme Powell’s death at the hands of police on August 19th.
The video that the bystander recorded and the police released, apparently to exonerate themselves, is very disturbing. The police go to their guns too easily too often. There is less than half a minute between the time they pull up and the moment where this man is shot to death. Again, they must have had some knowledge of his potentially disturbed mental state - the reason the police were called seems to be because the man was acting strange. Other police arrive on the scene within a minute.

I recorded an episode of the excellent Star Wars Minute podcast...
I recorded an episode of the excellent Star Wars Minute podcast last night (presumably to be aired in a week or two), which had me waxing nostalgic about my old favorite Star Wars movie, Return of the Jedi. Above is a page from Freddie & Me, where I recall selling all of my beloved Star Wars toys.
I tried showing this movie to my kid recently, and she was having none of it. Sadly, seeing it through her eyes knocked the movie down many pegs in my own estimation. Maybe it’s not good? That stupid Special Edition dance number sure was terrible.
My favorite SWM observation of this movie is that when Luke is breaking free and swinging his lightsaber around on the sand barge, there should have been Klaatu and Niktu body parts flying everywhere. For real, it’s worse than the bloodless scenes in any X-Men movie where Wolverine is chopping up henchmen. That lightsaber of Luke’s should have been lopping off heads and hands left and right. Should have been a gorefest.
