Interview- Release Day Blitz Jayded by Shevaun DeLucia

Do you write in different genres?
Yes, my first book was a YA Paranormal Romance, and my second book is New Adult.
If yes which is your favorite genre to write?
I love both! But, if I have to choose, I would choose New Adult. Writing about sex is fun! Lol.
How did you come up with the title for your latest book?
Jayded, in the Urban Dictionary, means to sexually pleasure to the extreme. Even though this isn’t a true word, I fell in love with it.
Do you title the book first or wait until after it’s complete?
I was in the middle of writing both books when I titled them.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Love has no boundaries or limits. Age is just a number.
What book are you reading now?
Fifty Shades Freed. Yes, I just had to see what everyone was gossiping about, and I have to say, I love the series!
What is your current “work in progress” or upcoming projects?
I am currently in the middle of writing the second book in the Eternal Mixtureseries, and after that, I will be doing a spin-off of Jayded.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
Maya Banks. She isn’t afraid to write what people won’t talk about or do. She tests the boundaries, and I absolutely love it!
Do you have to travel much to do research for your books?
Nope. Not yet anyways. I use the good ole Internet for my research.
Who designed the cover of your latest book?
George Parulski of Eastway Photography. He is AMAZING!
http://eastwayphotography.com/
Do you have any advice for other writers?
If your dream is to write, then do it! Follow your heart, sit your butt down in a chair, and write! All authors start there. And don’t forget to believe in yourself.
Do you have a song or playlist (book soundtrack) that you think represents this book?
Yes.“Nothing Really Matters” – Mr. Probz“Talking Body” – Tove Lo“Sex on Fire” – Kings of Leon“No Ordinary Love” – Sade“The Heart Wants What it Wants” – Selena Gomez“Sideways” – Sheryl Crow“Me and the Old Man” – Neil Van Dorn Band“Hanging by a Moment” – Lifehouse“One” – Ed Sheeran“Latch (Acoustic)” – Sam Smith“Let her Go” – Passenger“Wings” – Birdy

About the Author:
Shevaun DeLucia lives in upstate New York with her husband, four children, and two dogs. As a stay-at-home mom while her children were young, she fell in love with reading. When reading wasn’t enough to satisfy her, she turned to writing, determined to create the perfect ending of her own.

Excerpt:"Thank you." Ms. Mary Pyre accepted Dr. Brenner's proffered hand to exit the carriage after him. Though she believed neither her hands nor face betrayed her potent nervousness, she was certain without the corset constraining her waist the butterflies wafting around inside her stomach would have already evolved into soaring eagles. She wondered if Susan's nerves faired any better. Especially after they had purposely stressed Dr. Brenner out to see how he would react under pressure. Thankfully, he'd shown strength and resolve, so had passed the test with flying colors. Now she wanted him to join their clinic more than ever.Without Dr. Brenner's participation they would be relegated to the poor house alongside him within six months due to their handing their money over to the same financial advisor as he. It was a good thing he could no longer afford to promenade in high society, else he'd probably know of their dire financial straits, and instead of seeming magnanimous in offering a full-fledged partnership, she and Susan would appear desperate, which in all truthfulness, they were."So what do you think?" Mary asked once Dr. Brenner had assisted Susan in stepping from the carriage and  turned to appraise the office."It looks very nice," he replied.Mary smiled, her eyes running up the lily-lined gravel path to take in the bright yellow and white color scheme of the early Victorian home. She thought Dr. Brenner would be impressed once he realized how much thought they'd put into the practice. He'd also then know exactly how high their ambitions soared. In a statement: it was their intention to regain every bit of societal standing they had lost by getting the young doctor to provide patients with the maximum sexual fulfillment possible in a setting not soon forgotten, and one definitely not to be confused with an austere doctor's office. Within a month the practice should be earning over a hundred and fifty dollars a day, providing Dr. Brenner signed on and proved to be as talented as he and the rumors surrounding his natural gift for pleasing women touted him to be."Where did you study psychology?" Dr. Brenner asked. The question startled Mary. She hadn't expected it so soon. "Bravo, Dr. Brenner. I attended Boston Women's College, class of '72. Susan roomed with me. We both earned teaching degrees, but much to our chagrin, we found teaching dull and tiresome. Please, what gave us away?""The color scheme of the house; usually only a person having studied the emotional mechanics of the human mind can grasp the importance of color when trying to make women more susceptible to entering any unfamiliar establishment. I applaud you.""Just wait until you see the inside." A shiver of excitement raced up Mary's spine to tickle the skin on the back of her neck. This was going better than she'd hoped. The young doctor respected them as being intelligent women. Most men didn't, especially the venerated doctors of Boston who believed medicine would always be ruled by men, with no feminine opinions requested or required. Indeed, she knew a thing or two about the haughtiness of the male-dominated medical community and Dr. Brenner seemed like a breath of fresh air on a hot, muggy day.For a second time today she noticed how handsome his physical features were, particularly, how his dark blue eyes perfectly complemented the contours of his smooth, angular face and abundance of curly black hair atop his head. She also liked the way his body cut a fine figure in his tailored suit; his stomach appeared washboard flat and in proportion to his slim hips and larger chest and shoulders. Though he wasn't an overly large man, he was certainly a striking image of masculinity.

About the Author:
Edgy and provocative in his writings, Thomas Briar strives to exalt the virtues of love and lust in every erotic story he creates. To date, he's garnered eleven publishing contracts with three different publishers and has seven published books in the marketplace.
When he's not writing, he enjoys spending time with his wife, reading, taking long walks, and people watching. Yeah, he's always wondering what makes people do the things they do. He knows it's usually something hidden in plain sight. He just has to figure out what it is, much like the motivations of the characters in his stories.
Five Revelations from Thomas Briar
•         I was once a very religious young man. The ladies in the church I attended wore their hair in buns and their dress-tails brushed against the hardwood floor. Considering the explicit sexual content in my books, who would ever suspect that I came from such an austere environment…right?•         At twenty-five years of age I discovered Zalman King's Red Shoe Diaries and Anais Nin. The course of my life was forever altered. However, due to my religious upbringing, I suffered quite the emotional dilemma: either reinvent myself into who I wanted to be or continue to live out my life in religious austerity. I honestly believe I made the right choice.•         My wife is the most fun I've ever had. And I suspect she always will be. I met her when I was twenty-two and she was nineteen. I knew I was going to marry her three weeks into our relationship but I waited eight months before I actually asked for her hand in marriage. We've been together twenty-one years. She's the love of my life.•         I'm no stranger to manual labor. My father put me to work at six years old. I chuckle now whenever I think back at how I considered it a travesty that my younger brother didn't have to start working until he was seven. My brother and I are still the best of friends all these many years later.•         I love writing erotica and erotic romance. Every time I publish a new story I feel like I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing with my life.

One Bagpiper’s Approach to Prose: Summertime Book Two by Chuck Gould

It’s unlikely that I would ever be numbered among the top one thousand novelists in the United States. There are, after all, somewhere between 3.000 and 4,000 novels currently coming to market every day. I simply do the best I can, write for the sake of art and pleasure, and don’t worry about the rankings.
Informed estimates suggest that are perhaps thirty-thousand bagpipers among the three-hundred-twenty million souls living in the US. I’m still well out of the top thousand, but probably rank somewhere in the top fifty-percent of American bagpipers.
However, among people who write novels and play the bagpipe? It’s statistically probable that I make it into the top one-thousand. (There may only be a thousand). There are some interesting correlations between playing the bagpipe and writing prose. However well or poorly I write, it’s likely slightly better than it would be if I were not also a musician.
Bagpipers speak with a unique voice. It’s easy for a casual listener to confuse a variety of brass, string, and non-piped woodwinds for instruments with similar sound. Nobody ever confuses a bagpipe with a cello, a guitar, an oboe, a clarinet or a trombone. (Train wreck? Sometimes, if badly played). As a writer, I endeavor to speak with at least a consistent and recognizable voice, even if it isn’t entirely unique.
Bagpipers play a range of 9 notes, set in an unconventional scale. Our drones consist of three pipes, tuned an octave apart. What could possibly be more suggestive of creating a novel? I like to think of those 9 notes as the major characters. Each character is uniquely enjoyable, but just as in real life there can be a sense of tension as they interact. The drones, in both octaves, represent the plot and subplot. They can be different, but must work together. No matter what direction the characters may spin off, the sense of plot- like the drones of the bagpipe- must carry forward.
The most interesting pipe music has a variety of very, very long notes. Some short notes, too. We can’t raise or lower the volume of our instrument, so we accent the important tones with longer notes, and surround those long, harmonious notes with shorter, faster neighbors. Writers take note. A variety of sentence lengths make writing more interesting. A fair example? The structure of this very paragraph.
Finally a good pipe tune has a recognizable beginning, engaging main portion, and a convincing ending. A featured theme recurs frequently. If there are multiple parts, they seem cohesive rather than a part of some other tune that was wandering around lost and bulled in as soon as it saw an opening. When the tune is over, the listener is aware that something unique, enjoyable, and if not magical at least somewhat arcane has transpired.

One could do worse, as a novelist, than to write like a bagpiper.
SummertimeBook Two            Chuck Gould
Genre: Metaphysical fantasy
Publisher: Starry Night Publishing               Date of Publication: January 26, 2015
ISBN: 9781507681787
Number of pages: 316
Cover Artist: Larry Dubia
Book Description:
The metaphysical fantasy continues in this sequel to Summertime, Book One. Wesley Perkins spirals ever deeper into a world he struggles to understand, inextricably linked to the tragic past of a long dead blues musician, Judah Jones. His closest allies are Jones’ granddaughters. Wesley must endure a variety of forces attempting to manipulate his fate, after being warned about the dangers presented by his own ego.
Meanwhile, in Iberia Parish Louisiana, pilgrims seek a new home in a spiritual enclave established by a charlatan radio preacher. The entire community falls victim to an ancient heresy. Are these disparate universes part of a common, supernatural conflict?
Excerpt Book 2:
Ira lodged Memphis Rail and the Family Jones at the Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill. Mary Towne retired to her room upon arrival. Vanessa and Redd Wilmott shared a room, as did Wesley Perkins and Rebekah.
Art Abbott and John Flood sought out the Tonga Room and Hurricane Bar. Back in the 1940’s, the Fairmont converted the hotel’s indoor swimming pool to a Tiki bar. The pool became a rectangular lagoon, with a floating stage. A ship’s mast, tropical huts, Polynesian sculptures, and the façade of an Asian house illuminate by paper lanterns instilled a dimly lit atmosphere. Faux thatched roofs hovered over tables around the perimeter of the pond.
A waitress approached their table.
“Tonga Mai Tai, please,” requested John.
Art chuckled. “You really want one of those candy ass drinks served in a phony coconut shell?”
“Shit, ya.”
“Make mine a Seagram’s and Seven, please, Miss,” said Art.
John rested his elbow on the table and his head on his fist. “Gonna be a big day tomorrow. Two shows, sold out. Who woulda thought? Even six months ago, we be lucky to sell four or five thousand seats.”
Art shook his head with a shiver. “Yeah, but are you really OK with this? I’m thinkin’ about that incident at Rain Crow. And a shitload of other stuff to boot. I heard you play the sax, once, a long time ago. You couldn’t get a goddam note out of that Wesley Perkins’ horn. What’s up with that?”
“Hell, I don’t know exactly. Seems spooky as shit, if you ask me. For now, I’ve just decided to ride along, ‘cause the money’s gonna be really good.”
“Money? Holy crap man, is all of this reduced to bein’ about money?”
“Well, no. But money’s a big part of it,” said John. “Was a time it was mostly about love. Hell, I’d a paid to drum for The Rail when we first started out. Now days, I’m mostly old, tired, worn out, and ready to give it up and go home.”
Art was ready to change the subject. “Check out that floatin’ stage.”
“Yeah, so what about it, other than it’s pretty small.”
“Ever think there’s this invisible line?”
John shifted to the opposite elbow. “Huh? I don’t follow you, really.”“Like there’s this invisible line between where we are and where everybody else is. It’s sort of the edge of the stage, if you know what I mean.”
“Oh, hell yeah. Most of the folks buyin’ tickets think that there’s some magical divide. Like we never have to take a piss halfway through a set. Like we ain’t put in fifty hours of rehearsal and made a hundred mistakes for every sixty seconds we have out shit together during a concert. Hell yeah, I get that.”
“So, that floatin’ stage just makes the point more directly. Sort of like there’s this middle ages moat or something.”
The waitress returned with the drinks. “Are you gentlemen staying here at the hotel? If so, we’d be pleased to start a tab and bill it to your room.”
A young woman passed their table. She stopped abruptly, and looked deliberately at the two musicians. She flashed a slow smile of recognition, coupled with a slight nod, before she waved very slightly and continued on her way. Art and John watched her hips shift back and forth beneath a short, tight skirt.
Art sipped his drink. “You see the posters?”

Desire Denied by Layne Macadam

Can you tell your readers a little about yourself?
Sure, I live on the east coast of Australia in a beautiful part of the world. I work full-time and I have a university degree. My hobbies include reading, traveling, cooking, tackling craft projects, and writing of course.
What inspired you to write in this genre?
I read all types of fiction but romance is my favorite genre, so I wanted to write a contemporary short story featuring a team of Navy SEALs. Once I started, though, my first book turned into a full-blown novel. Desire Unleashed was the first book in the Desire Series, and my new book, Desire Denied is the second book.
Do you have a special formula for creating characters' names? Do you try to match a name with a certain meaning to attributes of the character or do you search for names popular in certain time periods or regions?
It depends on the story. Some books call for traditional names, others more modern names, and some call for the unusual. My first book, Desire Unleashed, the hero is Shane Jackson, while Whip McGregor is the protagonist in Obsession Down Under, Desire Denied, the second book in the Desire series, the hero is Zach Buchanan, all contemporary books so choosing their names was easy.
Danikyle is the hero in my sci-fi Star Crossed Lovers so a bit more unusual. For him I just combined Daniel with Kyle. Caleb Grayson is the hero in Wolf On Wheels. Caleb is an old name most likely from Hebrew meaning “dog”. I thought that was appropriate as Caleb, being a wolf shifter, is very old and wolves and dogs are considered to be part of the same family.
Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? How do you deal with it?
I don’t often get writer’s block but when I do, I either write a later chapter in the book, or if I have two books on the go I put one aside and work on the other.
I’m working on two books at the moment. I’m a couple of chapters in to Book 2 in the Heritage Series, as yet untitled, and Book 3, Desire Rekindled, in the Desire Series. If I come to a roadblock with one I work on the other. Seems to work for me, although sometimes it can get confusing!
Do you write in different genres?
Yes, I sure do. I write suspense, sci-fi, paranormal, and contemporary. Wolf on Wheels is the first book in my wolf shifter Heritage Series. Book 2 has some unexpected surprises.
When did you consider yourself a writer?
I suppose I considered myself a writer when I finally typed “The End” but then the rejections came and along with them seeds of doubt. Self-publishing Desire Unleashed wasn’t an option after all the blood, sweat, and tears that went into creating it. So I guess I never really considered myself an author until that contract with my publisher that validated my work was signed.
Tell us about your latest release?
In Desire Deniedthe guys are Ex-SEALs. Zach “Wolf” Buchanan, the playboy of the team, has the hots for Beth Carmichael but he considers her a trouble magnet.
Ever since his sister, Loretta befriended her, they’ve been in and out of trouble, and Beth a constant thorn in his side. For five years and a multitude of reasons, he’s fought his feelings by avoiding her, but when she telephones out of the blue with news she’s in Columbia and Loretta has been abducted, he is forced to confront her again along with his demons. To rescue Loretta, they must put aside their history and start afresh because the ransom terms are specific. Beth must make the delivery. Simple enough until things turn sour and they are forced on a journey through thick jungle and mountainous terrain. Thrown together, Zach’s eyes are opened and he learns some truths about himself—could he also have misjudged Beth all these years?
With the book being part of a series, are there any character or story arcs, that readers jumping in somewhere other than the first book, need to be aware of? Can these books be read as stand alones?
Yes, the books can be read as stand alone stories, but as with anything it’s best to start at the beginning. As the song goes, it’s a very good place to start… Book 1 introduces the characters and you get to know all their little idiosyncrasies. They’re like real people to me and some of my readers have expressed they feel the same, which I take as a huge compliment.
Would you like to leave your readers with a little excerpt from the book?
Sure, I’ll just pick a random section.
“Columbia, wow, that’s awesome.” Loretta examined her nails and tried to inject as much enthusiasm into her voice as befitted her friend’s news, but fornication, the penchant Lizzie had for work was as alien to her as Mars.
“You better believe it. It’ll be sensational, a dream come true. There’s one drawback though.” The uncertainty in Lizzie’s voice prodded the question. “And that would be?” “Daniel Chalmers will be going too.”
That made her sit up and take notice. “Just you and the sleaze, tell me you’re joking?” Lizzie had her undivided attention now.
“I wish. He came to tell me in person, and do you know what the jerk said when I asked him what he wanted?” “Surprise me.”
“He said, ‘he was up for a bit’ and then told me to ‘pack something sexy.’ Can you believe he actually had the nerve to say that? Ee-yewh, he’s so full of himself.”
“From what you’ve told me, the guy’s a dirtbag. You can’t go there alone with him. The creep will eat you alive.”
“I don’t have a choice. It’s either go with Daniel, or not at all. I need the experience, and it’s far too important an opportunity to pass up, and please, Loretta, try and remember to call me Beth. Lizzie makes me feel like a ditzy teenager.”
“Okay, I’ll try to remember. And just so you know, you’re not going alone. I’m coming too. No argument.” Sure it was impetuous, but Beth was her best friend. They were as close as sisters, closer than some, and she had no intention of leaving her alone with a guy like Chalmers. She’d met his type before. Lizzie, ah Beth, was so naive and inexperienced she wouldn’t stand a chance with a guy like him; he’d chew her up and spit her out before breakfast. No, it would be best if she went as a buffer to block any unwanted attention and to support her friend in any way she could. Besides, she had nothing else to do and needed a diversion.
“Seriously, you don’t have to do that. I’ll be fine.”
Beth tried to sound convincing, but Loretta knew her well and detected the slight edge to her voice. “No arguments—it’ll be fun! Besides I’ve always wanted to go to Colombia. Hey, you can take some leave afterward and we’ll make a holiday of it.”
“Do you even know where Colombia is?”
Beth was clever putting her on the spot, knowing full-well geography was not one of her stronger subjects. “Sure I do, it’s in Asia. Zach went there last year on a mission.”
“That was Cambodia, you ditz. Colombia is in South America.”
“Cambodia, Colombia, what’s the diff?” She lifted her shoulders and then let them drop; they were all foreign to her.
“The difference is, to quote Daniel, ‘Colombia’s dangerous.’”
“Oh, he’s just trying to scare you, and if it was true then I’m surprised your family agreed to it.”
She wasn’t sure if it was the profound silence following that clued her in or some kind of intuition that prompted her next question. “The family have agreed to it, haven’t they?”
“I’ve only just found out myself. You were my first call, so that would be no. I’ll tell them tonight.”
“And when they say no?”
“Then I’ll just say I’m going, end of story. I’m twenty-four, it’s time they stopped running my life.”
“Good luck with that.” Beth’s parents were seriously old-fashioned and way over- protective, as were her brothers. No way would they allow her to go overseas with a man. “Tell them I’ll be tagging along, that should ease their minds.”
“Um, well, if you’re really serious, I’ll e-mail my flight details and ask for some leave.” “Sweet, I’d best start packing and calling the airline.”

About the Author:
Layne lives with her husband, two dogs, and a cat on the mid-eastern coast of New South Wales, Australia. In addition to being an author she has a degree in history and holds down a full-time job.
She has always been an avid reader and voraciously consumes all types of fiction, but she particularly loves a happy ending, so writing romance seemed a natural progression for her. But as she sat at the computer one day — staring at a blank screen — it all seemed rather daunting. Yet once she finally started tapping on the keys, the words kept flowing, and what was meant to be a short story turned into a full-blown novel, Desire Unleashed, the first book in the “Desire” series.

Interview Typewriter from Hell by Diane Cox

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre?
I was frustrated by being rejected by agents and I didn't have a genre in mind when I started.
Please tell us about your latest release.
I am currently shopping a manuscript about a handsome young stock broker who has everything but can't find the woman of his dreams. He falls in love with a character in a spy novel, and when she begins to haunt him she becomes the woman of his nightmares.
Do you have a special formula for creating characters' names? Do you try to match a name with a certain meaning to attributes of the character or do you search for names popular in certain time periods or regions?
No, they just pop out of my head.
Was one of your characters more challenging to write than another?
I began this story thinking that Henry Morgan the agent was the protagonist, but I quickly realized he must be the antagonist and writing him became easy.
Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
I really enjoyed writing despicable old Henry. Does that mean I hate men?
Do you have a formula for developing characters? Like do you create a character sketch or list of attributes before you start writing or do you just let the character develop as you write?
Gosh, that sounds like it would really improve things but my characters just set out on a journey and before you know it they populate their world and drive their own destiny. Kind of spooky, really.
What is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it, without spoilers of course?
That would be difficult because it's when the bad guy gets his due.
Did you find anything really interesting while researching this or another book?
I always learn lots of interesting things while writing. Since the advent of the internet savvy readers will be all over you if you haven't done your homework.
What is the most interesting thing you have physically done for book related research purposes?
I've actually gone to the location of my first manuscript and scenes in my third are from my own travels.
Can you tell readers a little bit about the world building in the book/series? How does this world differ from our normal world?
In my world what we consider impossible always happens. Who knows what is really possible or impossible?
Do any of your characters have similar characteristics of yourself in them and what are they?
I think there is an undercurrent of feeling unworthy and then pursuing a journey to find faith in oneself
Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?
Yes, but I don't write to earn money so it's not urgent. For me writing is about pleasure, not pain.
How do you deal with it?
I wait until the answer presents itself - sometimes months. But then, I write like a demon after the block is passed.
Do you write in different genres?
I have written a young adult historical romance as well as the two paranormal romances.
When did you consider yourself a writer?
After about the first four years of rewriting.
What was the last amazing book you read?
The Sweet Gum Tree
Where is your favorite place to read?
In bed
Where can readers find you on the web? www.dianecox.net, www.facebook.com/typewriterfromhell twitter: dianecoxwrites
Would you like to leave readers with a little teaser or excerpt from the book?

Excerpt:Chapter One
Ellen Brinson peered over her half glasses at the messy typewritten page. The ‘e’ on the old Corona was so occluded it looked like a giant dot. She quickly read through the last few paragraphs she’d just pounded out. She had a screaming headache.Where the Hell was this stuff coming from? It was true she’d always wanted to write. Her MLS in library science was all about Ellen’s belief that she couldn’t write, so being around books was the next best thing. But, this, this stuff she was typing -- she’d never done the things, never even known anyone like the people in this story. It didn’t matter. Six more weeks and her unemployment was going to run out. The stress of not having a job for two years, of trying to find something else she could do to earn a living and getting nowhere, the sheer desperation, was about to drive her crazy. This book was the only hope she had right now, and she clung to it.Rubbing her eyes, Ellen stretched and the old afghan that covered her lap slipped to the floor. This damn dump was so drafty; she was always cold. Pushing her chair back, she moved to the other side of the room where a row of cabinets and a miniature stove and fridge masqueraded as a kitchen. She poured a cup of hot water from the kettle warming on the stove and dunked a tea bag in it. Then, she reached under the sink and found a pint of vodka, splashing a liberal shot into the tea mug.The mug cradled in both hands, she plopped down on the rumpled bed that dominated the small room, and leaned back against the wall. Sometimes she felt like she was someone else. Maybe that explained what happened at the typewriter. Or maybe she was just going nuts. That was probably it.Ellen took a big gulp of the spiked tea, her mind running in circles like a hamster on a wheel. She had to do something, even if it was wrong. She got up and crossed to the rickety wooden table that held her typewriter. She grabbed the messy pages of the manuscript that had been pouring out of her for the past three weeks. Automatic writing, wasn’t that what they called it? Ellen read a paragraph at random:Serena slid a glance at the senator next to her. With a twitch of her shoulders, she hit him with a blast of décolletage, and then sent her tongue on an exploratory tour of her mouth. She could feel the man heat up like a kitchen stove. Another sideways glance confirmed that the front of his pants now looked suspiciously like a tent. Turning her head to look directly at him, she lasered him with the 100 Watt Sex Bomb Smile. Tossing her head back, she trailed her long, red fingernails down her arched, white neck toward her bosom. Then she rose and wiggled her way across the room, giggling to herself.
My God, what crap! Where had it come from? All the same, it was so trashy that maybe it had some potential for being published. It reminded her of the stuff written by Isabel Ritter –no, Isabel Rider.Rider - she got a visual of the author astride a naked man, bucking in unabashed lust. Ellen laughed out loud, then as quickly sobered as the gravity of her situation struck her.She ran her fingers through her curly hair. What could she do with this stuff? She needed to send it out to somebody, but who? And, why would they read it? She was nobody, unpublished. She didn’t even have a friend at a publishing house. She knew a few writers, but they were mostly historians. They would be appalled if she asked them to pass this trash on to their agent. She read through the pages again. What the Hell. It’s worth a try. Taking in a deep breath, Ellen jumped off the sagging bed, pulled her parka on over her sweats, and tugged on some mukluks. Slamming the door to her flat, she descended five floors of walk-up, her mukluks slapping against each step.A late spring snow was lazily drifting down as she pushed through the front door of her building, cursing as a splinter poked her hand. She hated this dump. She was beginning to hate New York. Ellen had come here with such high hopes, sure she would discover the glamor and excitement that beckoned in so many novels. Instead, the reality was that New York was no fun for the poor.In spite of her disappointment, the farmhouse in Iowa where she’d grown up still didn’t look good to her. That was something. Her mother would make her life a living Hell if she had to go back home, broke. Only her father had believed in her dream, and he’d been dead five years now.“Watch where you’re going!” A guy in a plaid wool jacket bumped her as he passed on the busy sidewalk. She turned into the Strand book store, and headed straight for romantic fiction.

Diane Cox lives in Atlanta, Georgia with two dogs and two cats. She loves to garden, snap photos of her flowers, and dine out with friends.  She works hard for her money, so she squeezes in her writing early in the morning.
Some years ago she fell in love with the true story of one of her neighbor's pioneer ancestresses. After seven years of rewrites, she had learned about the craft. This year she will bring out a third project, and once again writing will be part of the plot.
She has been in love with books and reading all her life and has always wanted to write. Finally it has happened.

Never Cross A Warlock by Marilyn Vix

The Story Behind “Never Cross A Warlock”
I am so happy to see the completion of the last in my Beware of Warlocks series, Never Cross A Warlock. Why? The series was almost not finished.
In December 2014, I got acute pneumonia, and went Code Blue in the hospital. Then, I went into septic shock.  I was sedated for a week while my body fought off the infection. Yup. Needles into the lungs to drain them too. Not fun. Like I said, it was bad. I’m happy to still be alive.
The road has been long in coming back from this. They discovered a large blood clot in my heart too. So, I’ve been on medical leave from my day job and on medicines to shrink my blood clot. I’m wearing a life vest, or wearable defibrillator, in case my heart decides to react from my heart arrhythmia that caused the blood clot.
I finally received the good news that my blood clot has broken down. The heart arrhythmia is still there, and looking to be permanent. So, I’ve got an appointment to meet with a specialist to get an internal defibrillator, and to look into a future with a possible heart transplant if things don’t get better with my heart.
But despite all of this, I can still write. I’m trying to keep a positive attitude, and keep going. One of the things in the hospital I promised myself to do when I got out was to finish Never Cross A Warlock. I had finished the first draft before all these things happened. I wanted to finish the process, send it to beta readers and then my editor. I wanted to see it through and finish the Beware of Warlock series.
When I got out of hospital, it took having a physical therapist visit me at home to help get my strength back. I finally was able to type after several weeks, and got back onto the road of finishing the book. I’m still not done with my health issues. In fact, more than likely, I have what is called a new normal. I may never be able to ride the 10 miles I used to my bike.
But today, I graduated from the home patient physical therapy to move to outpatient care in a clinic for cardio pulmonary rehab. I rode my bike around my condo complex three times. It took me 3 months to come this far. It wasn’t the 10 miles I used to do, but I could ride the bike. I’ll take that.
I can also still write. It feels good to reach this goal of finishing Never Cross A Warlock to move on to writing another follow-up series with Cassandra, Catherine’s best friend in Beware of Warlocks.  It’s the biggest sense of accomplishment since starting this romance-writing journey. I woke up in the hospital feeling I had to come back to keep writing. I still have a hell of a lot more to do.

Excerpt 2 From Chapter 3 of Never Cross A Warlock
I slid out of my bar chair faster than I’d ever made an exit. I had to regroup. Nothing like a quiet bathroom stall to clarify your thoughts.I made it through the bathroom door and stumbled into an empty stall. Sitting on the toilet, a stream of tears burst forth. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I let it happen. Nothing like a good purge to get some sense back into a girl. Was I really ready for a life with Jeff? I felt the soul binding telling me he was the one to stick it out through thick and thin. But then, I thought so with Rich, too. But he’d never done the soul-binding spell. Just the marriage spell, and then we went on a shopping spree, buying houses, cars, and anything else that he thought my money, and now his, could buy. I was so stupid. He was such a cock suck up.I heard a knock on my stall door. “You okay in there?” I snuffled, using some toilet paper to clean up the snot from my nose.“Yeah. Men suck.” I wouldn’t say warlocks. This was a mixed club.“I agree with you there, girl. Just let me know if you need something.”I blew my nose a couple of times, wiping off any excess, then stood, straightened my dress, and flushed all the tissue down the toilet. There. My man tears were spent. Time to move on and try to make a decision. I opened the stall door and saw the attendant ready to hand me a towel. I added a quick “Thank you” before dabbing at my streaked make-up. I was going to have to do some reapplying. “Sometimes this is the best place to come and let it all out, dear,” added the attendant. “I’m totally embarrassed,” I said as I tried to make something out of my raccoon eyes. I’d just gone old-fashioned tonight. No added spells instead of make-up. I liked going all natural, as I called it. I really didn’t need spell enhancing, and was proud of that. Not every witch could claim to have a spell-free appearance. I started going through my purse for items to reapply and make better the mess on my face. My brown hair kept flopping in front of my eyes. It was getting distracting.“Don’t be. I get a lot of woman crying out their man problems in here.” “Hear any good solutions?” I started to reapply some liner, giving up on the mascara. I figured just adding more base and rouge would make me presentable again.“Yes. Most of the answers involve kicking the scoundrels out of their lives, or forgiving them. I’m guessing one of those options might fit yours.”“It does in one case.” I laughed. Throwing Rich out of my life would seem fit, if I lived through his retaliation. “I think getting rid of him is the best option.” I smiled at the thought of it.“Oh, girl, two men. That’s always a problem.” The attendant smiled, leaving me to my make-up repairs. Just then, a toilet flushed and the stall opened. In the mirror, I recognized the woman exiting. It was Cassandra. I wasn’t sure how much she’d heard. She came up to the sink next to me, rinsing her hands. My lips pursed, and I tried to play it coy. I looked in the mirror to touch up my rouge, but I saw my cheeks were plenty red without it. Maybe she wouldn’t notice it was me.“Cat?” Her voice actually sounded surprised.Shit. “Cassandra?”

Conversations with Your Inner Demon: Guest Blog and Giveaway with Robyn Bachar

Authors have colorful inner voices. We look at everyday household items and wonder how to kill characters with them. We watch the news and constantly ask, “But what if thishappened instead? How can I change that? How can I use it?”
My muse is funny, but she can be a major pain in the butt. I have a hard time sleeping because my muse thinks bedtime is ideal for plotting and writing dialogue. She fills my inner monologue with snarky commentary that is witty but seldom socially appropriate. Luckily as an author I have an outlet for that, and can let my characters blurt the one-liners that I’m too polite to utter.
When I started writing Bite Me, it became clear that my heroine had a similar problem. Her inner monologue is similarly inappropriate, but instead of hearing her muse, Lizzy hears her inner demon. Every vampire has a bit of demon inside them, and Lizzy’s is a succubus—a lust demon. Lizzy constantly battles her demon’s lustful urges, and that struggle is only made worse when the zombie apocalypse happens and Lizzy must take in a group of survivors.
I had a ton of fun writing Lizzy’s conversations with her demon, giving voice to her inappropriate commentary and generally driving Lizzy crazy. I hope readers enjoy it as well. :-)
Bite MeRobyn Bachar
Genre: Erotic paranormal romance
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Date of Publication: March 17, 2015
ISBN: 978-1-61922-457-5ASIN:
Number of pages: 211Word Count: 80k
Cover Artist: Kanaxa
Book Description:
Consumed by the need to feed…
After an out-of-control spell triggers the zombie apocalypse, Lizzy Addams is left in the ruins of Chicago with only the slightly unhinged commentary—and endless erotic appetites—of her inner demon for company. Her blood supply dwindling, she is forced to find survivors to feed from, or die trying.
Officer Angela Kinney was on duty when hungry corpses overwhelmed the city. The survivors look to her for leadership, but nothing prepared her for a beautiful monster who offers safety in exchange for blood.
Sean MacMillan never expected to see Lizzy again after she rejected his attempts to lure her back to the vampire fold. But with his flock threatened by the horde and his murderous vampire brother, Lizzy is the only one he can trust to keep them safe.
The veil of secrecy shrouding the supernatural world torn apart, humanity’s only hope is to forge an alliance with vampires, werewolves, and things that go bump in the night. Though accepting their aid could be a devil’s bargain that puts humans at the bottom of the food chain.
Warning: Contains vampire orgies, angsty demon sex, a frisky lesbian werewolf, light kink, and enough sex toys to start a store.

Excerpt:

We emerged from the coffin to find a note taped to the inside of my closet door, with the instructions, “Sean, read this first.”
No good would come of that. Irritated, I handed him the note and opened the door. I emerged into an empty, silent bedroom. Blinking in confusion, I paused after a few steps. No flock, no werewolves and no one seated at my computer. The door was shut and locked, and my stomach dropped as I was blasted by an icy wave of fear.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, whirling on Sean.
He stood in the doorway to the closet, lean and so tall he nearly scraped the doorframe. Sean studied me silently, his face a placid mask, and then he slowly unbuttoned the jacket he’d just donned and set it aside.
“Sean…” My voice dropped in warning as he began unbuttoning his shirt. I growled for added effect, but he continued, stripping the shirt and then the undershirt beneath until he was bare-chested. He didn’t seem interested or aroused—Sean looked like a man being led to the gallows. I growled again, but instead of a threat it was a sound of interest voice by my stirring demon. She was captivated by the landscape of pale skin across his toned abs, wondering what his skin would feel like beneath our fingertips.
Lean and strong, like our Athena. Wouldn’t they make a striking pair in our bed?
“Elizabeth, come here,” Sean ordered.
I was halfway to him before I realized what had happened—anger at falling so easily into the reflex warred with my demon’s desire to obey. With a snarl I froze, planting my feet in a fighting stance just out of arm’s reach.

“What the fuck is going on?” I snapped.
