Why I Love Levi Wolfe
Hi, everyone! Thanks for letting me jump in here and blog with you about my new book. While it’s true that I have to be in love with every hero I write or it just doesn’t work for me, I admit that I have a special place in my heart for Leviticus Wolfe. Here are four reasons why I’m so “gone” for this guy.
1. He’s my ultimate type. I love bad boys – guys who are badass but have bleeding hearts. Levi is bad in a good way. Growing up in a challenging environment, he developed a hard shell, but somehow he has managed to remain kind and compassionate. He doesn’t go looking for a fight, but he doesn’t back down from them either. His heart is scarred, but still big and beautiful.
2. He leads and never follows. Levi takes charge. When he sees something or someone he wants, he goes after it. His mission in life is to bring about order from chaos. He doesn’t like lies or turbulence in his life because that’s what was around him all the time when he was young. He doesn’t like to feel that he’s not in charge and in control – which is why being with Trudy is both thrilling and aggravating for him. When he’s with her, he’s not sure-footed or certain of the direction he’s moving toward with her.
3. He knows he’s deeply flawed. Although he’s handsome, gifted, and successful, Levi knows he has deep flaws and wounds that haven’t healed. He wants to be a better man, so he’s in therapy and working to exorcise his demons. But his main flaw is that he doesn’t trust others or his own heart. His intellect – knowing he should trust Trudy and allow himself to love her with all his heart – battles his honed instincts – guarding himself from further pain that would wipe out the progress he’s made in shedding his phobias and becoming “normal.”
4. He’s learning to love and be loved. Levi has never known deep, abiding love in his life and Trudy offers that to him. It frightens him because he feels unworthy of it and, yet, he wants it, desperately. Accepting such a gift will mean that he must reveal all of himself to Trudy, and when he does, he’s afraid she will decide he’s too messed up and she’ll leave him.
So, there you have it. Trudy has her work cut out for her, but she’s up to the challenge – I hope!

Excerpt:
“You don’t realize how special you are, do you?”Trudy smiled. “Special to you.”“Yes, and special as a psychic.” Levi straightened, stood, and threw his leg over the seat, sitting backwards in it to face her. Wrapping an arm around her waist, he hauled her up against the back of the chair. “What I do isn’t anything special. Talking to the deceased is a psychic staple. But what you can do . . . connecting with the thoughts of a living being . . . that is rare. In fact, I don’t know of anyone else who can actually do it. I know a couple of people who claim to be able to, but you’re the only psychic I’ve ever met who is the genuine article.”She listened, but found holes in his argument. “What you do is special. You told me yourself that your accuracy sets you apart from other mediums.”“Yes, that’s right. I’m good. Damn good.” He winked at her. “But you’re a diamond among crystals. You sparkle so brightly, you blind the rest of us.”Her heart melted into a puddle as he gazed at her with undisguised admiration. “I’m not . . . am I? You really don’t know anyone who can do what I do?”He shook his head slowly, deliberately, his blue eyes shining. “Nary a one.” He regarded her for a few moments before his lips twitched into a grin. “Does that freak you out?”“A little.” She swallowed the lump in her throat so that her voice would emerge stronger. “Quintara has told me that I’m one of a kind, but I figured she was exaggerating – as she’s known to do.”“This time your flamboyant mentor wasn’t embellishing the truth.” He rested his hands on her hips, his long fingers spreading across her jeaned backside. “At the risk of freaking you out more, I think you’ve only begun to reveal the extent of what you can do. You’re holding back because you’re afraid. I understand. I’ve been there.” His fingers flexed on her hips. “Take your time. Let it come to you gradually and don’t be scared. You’re strong and brave. You’ll be able to handle it.”“Handle what?” She shook her head as a ball of nerves grew in her stomach.“Your gift. Your incredible gift.”“You said you’d help me.”“And I will. I’m here for you.”She framed his achingly handsome face in her hands and her heart doubled in size. “How’d I get so lucky?”“I’m the lucky one.” He turned his face so that he could kiss her palm, but not before she saw darkness pass through his eyes like a specter. “And you’ll agree with me whole-heartedly once we’re in Missouri.”

Jock understands that Archer is what they need, but Gus intends to fight Archer every step of the way. He has to—it’s in his genes.
Can Archer keep this new family safe, from the elements and each other?
Excerpt:
Archer Tyson smelled the shallow grave before he saw it.The narrow trench had been dug carefully, and rocks and brush covered what was left of the she-wolf, but the fact remained that she was dead, and there was evidence of a trap-death on the carcass.Damn it all. This didn’t look like poachers, who would have wanted the coat. Maybe the head. No cabins or livestock this far up the mountain, so he had to assume this was malicious. A wolf hater. That always meant a lot of work for him as one of the two rangers who covered this plot of land. Not to mention that when a wolf died on his watch, Archer took it pretty personally. It made him a little toothy and more than a bit pissed off. The urge to sniff around and see if he could follow a scent trail to the killer was strong, but Archer was on the clock right now. The best he could do for this poor girl was mark the grave with a locator so he could find it again later and make a report. He sighed, whispering a soft prayer in his native tongue for her, which okay, sounded more like moaning and groaning than words, but whatever.Another scent hit him when he moved away from the makeshift grave, and Archer tilted his head. No. Pups?Where were they? He sniffed again. They’d been here and been… taken.A low growl rose in his chest, and Archer wanted to howl with rage. Was that what this was about? Wolves weren’t fucking pets, and no one should be killing momma wolves to take their cubs. He started tracking, every sense tuned to searching out this motherfucker. No, his wolf told him. These. Two. Two scents. Two males. Damn it. He started along their trail, which might as well have been cut with a weed whacker. His radio squawked, distracting him. “Archer. Can you read, over?”“I hear you, Ben.” He was busy, damn it. “We got a small brush fire over at Lizard Head. All hands on deck. What’s your twenty?”“That’s a haul, man. I’m near Whitehouse, and I have a poacher situation.”“Okay. I’ll call you in if we need you. Hang tight, over.”“Ten four. Over.” Shoo. He had puppies to find. Wolf cubs. Christ, what a mess. He didn’t need this shit.He followed the scent, slowing as the smells became damn near overwhelming. The two males started to make his nose twitch. They didn’t have the sour, greedy smell of poachers, or the hyped-up adrenaline scent of hunters. No, if anything this scent was sweet, sexual, tinged with a dull hunger, a hint of worry. He peered around a bend in the trail, finding two men, shaggy and skinny and utterly underdressed for the late autumn chill, sleeping in the afternoon sun around a pile of three cubs. Oh. The totally unexpected sight made him smile. Look at that; the pups already trusted these two. There was no way they’d killed the mom. One of the men, the older by the looks of it, started sniffing, nose working hard.Wait. Wait, were they… Could they be like him? Archer thought that was impossible, but no human would be able to scent him from this location.Dark eyebrows lowered, and the man woke up, nudging the blond. “Jock, babe, someone’s here. Get the babies into the tent.”Without a question, the blond got the pups moving, growling and nudging on all fours. The cubs obeyed, falling over their big feet.Once they were safely tucked away in the tent, Archer stepped into the clearing. “I won’t hurt anyone. I’m with the Forest Service.”“We’re fine. Thanks. We got a permit.” The blond was pushed behind, just a little, the darker wolf trying to make himself big. All teeth and puffy chest.
Adorable.

An Author Reading and Fun Facts About Ruby's Choice by DF Jones

Ruby’s Choice fun facts:
Chapter Titles: Ruby’s Choice is set in the late 1970’s and all of the chapter titles in Ruby’s Choice are songs from the 1970s.
Everglade General Store: There was a real Everglade General Store that was the basis for the store in Ruby’s Choice which was owned by Mr. Burns.
In fact, Everglade General Store and Post Office owned by Mr. Burns, and he was really my great- great grandfather and he eventually partnered with my great- grandfather, from 1865 to 1910. They also owned a lumber yard, saw mill, and blacksmith shop. It was known as the Burns Dynasty.
Campbell Ridge Cave: One of the most well-known caves in Middle Tennessee is Snail Shell Cave and it lies on an 88-acre preserve near Murfreesboro. I did go spelunking inside this cave many times during my college years. Inside, the cave has stalactites as large as a pickup truck which I reference in the story--and then some—but no totem, unlike what the girls in Ruby’s Choice, who found a totem and mystical stones from the Campbell Ridge cave.
Henry Horton State Park was constructed in the 1960s on the estate of the former governor of Tennessee, Henry Horton. The park is located on the Duck River and it has an Olympic-size swimming pool which is referenced in Chapter Two of Ruby’s Choice, it’s where Ruby goes to have fun at least once a week in the summertime.
MTSU: I am a proud alumni of MTSU and a True Blue Fan. Middle Tennessee State University is located at the geographic center of Tennessee, in Murfreesboro. It is the oldest and largest institution in the Tennessee Board of Regents system with an enrollment of about 23,000 students. The reason for the big shout out to MTSU is that all of my main characters in Ruby’s Choice attend MTSU.
Opryland USA was opened in 1972 and closed in 1997. The theme park offered many different venues for music and a host of park rides including roller coasters. The Opryland scene in Ruby’s Choice is a pivotal scene in my storyline.
The Tower: Reed takes Ruby to dinner at The Tower before they head out to the Bob Seger concert in Ruby’s Choice. There was a spinning restaurant which offered panoramic view of Nashville called the Polaris and it was located on the 28th floor of the hotel. The spinning restaurant referenced in Ruby’s Choice was opened in 1975 and closed in 2000.

Book Description:
Ruby’s Choice is a coming of age story set in the late 1970’s in Middle Tennessee with a splash of paranormal which will blossom in the second and third books of the series.
Ever since Ruby discovered an amber-encased spider web in the Campbell Ridge Cave, she has had dreams of births, deaths and glimpses into the future.
Ruby’s shift is coming to a close at Everglade General Store. As she stacks the last row of bath soap, Ruby recalls the delicious dream she had the night before. In the dream, a gorgeous guy is kissing a tickle spot, just behind her left earlobe, sending shivers up her spine. If only that dream could come true, instead of the one where a state trooper gives her a seventy-five dollar speeding ticket!
Ruby snaps back to reality when she hears the store’s front door bells chime. If she didn’t know any better, she’d say the frickin’ Adonis from her sexy dream just walked through the door.
Reed Jackson and Brent Brown introduce themselves to Ruby as members of the local baseball team her brother, George, manages. Brent mentions they specifically came out to the store to meet George’s hot, little sister. Ruby is slightly confused when she hears Reed murmur Tap It under his breath, but then she remembers the rumor going around campus about Reed and Brent’s dating game, where the two best friends compete to have a girl profess undying love to one of them. And Tap It is a winner takes all—all of what, though, Ruby has no clue. Ruby decides that she’ll play along, but according to her rules. She’ll suss out if either of these players is worthy of her love and respect.
One thing is for sure, Ruby is no pawn.

PrologueCa m p b e l l Ri d g e Ca v e 1972
RUBY, ANNA AND SANDY HAD their backpacks filled with water, extra flashlights and batteries for spelunking the cave on Campbell Ridge. Ruby had discovered the entrance of the cave with her brother, George, five years ago, when they were looking for Indian arrowheads. George had told her never under any circumstances to go inside of the cave. But today, Ruby and her best friends, Anna and Sandy, were looking for new adventures. The girls were deep inside the cave, surrounded by complete darkness with only their flashlights to illuminate the interior walls. The limestone cave had beautiful rock formations, crystals and stalactites. The cave underground had seemed alien, almost unworldly. The air smelled of the dank earth, and the only sound was running water from the stream that ran through the cave.Ruby was forced to climb over a boulder on her belly to squeeze through a narrow pass. The boulder opened up into a hidden room. Ruby was still hanging onto the rock when she yelled back at the girls, “Hey, guys, you have to see this!” And then she slid down the rock into the room.Anna and Sandy scrambled up and over the boulder, shining their lights into the hidden room. Anna slid down the boulder and entered with Sandy right behind her. The hidden room was roughly the size of a bedroom. “Holy cow, there are ancient drawing’s on the wall.”Thousands of years of groundwater had caused the rocks on one side of the cave to drop down forming large stalactites the size of a pickup truck. The large drawings revealed intricate details of each person etched in the stone wall. Sandy inspected the drawings closer as she walked down the length of the wall. “It’s a story. I read about ancient drawings like these in one of my National Geographic magazines. This is far out.”Ruby tripped over a small rock, dropping her flashlight. The light on the ground lit the far left corner, revealing a massive figure carved in the stone. “Geez Louise! This dude looks like a freaking astronaut. Look at his helmet!”Anna bumped into Ruby, nearly making them both fall down. She held onto Ruby’s shoulder and said, “That’s some spooky shit.”Anna walked past Sandy to the next group of drawings. “Here’s the same dude again. He’s holding a totem and there are three people kneeling before him. This looks like a ritual or rite of passage.”Sandy sat down on a rock, mesmerized by what they had discovered. She flashed her light toward Ruby and Anna as they traced their fingers over the different drawings. Sandy asked, “Do you think we should tell our parents or teachers?”Anna and Ruby walked over sit to on the ground next to Sandy. Ruby’s light fused with Sandy’s as Anna’s light circled around to the other parts of the room. There was only one wall dedicated to the drawings. Anna replied, “I don’t think so. A tribe sealed this room for some reason. We should leave. I’ve got a weird feeling, like we’re being watched.”Sandy stood, tipping over the rock she had been sitting on, causing her flashlight to point downward. “Hey, look, something’s under this rock. Bring your lights over here.” Anna and Sandy shined their lights over the place where the rock had been, as Ruby knelt down, reached in and pulled out the object. The girls plopped back down on the hard ground, staring wide-‐eyed at the totem. Ruby’s voice trembled. “It’s the totem in the drawing, the same one the deity is handing over to the people kneeling on the ground. I know this sounds weird, but this thing is pulsing in my hands.”Sandy reached over to pluck the totem out of Ruby’s hand. The totem was around six inches tall, made out of crystal and quartz with piercing sapphire eyes. The detailed carvings made the image of the face appear real, smooth as glass to the touch, as though sculpted by a master artisan, and no matter which way they turned the totem, it seemed to be watching them. “It’s a smaller version of the big guy in the corner. He is looking at me.”Sandy handed the totem to Anna, who turned it over in her hands. “I see what you mean. This little dude is shooting energy to my fingertips. We need to place this thing back where we found it and get the hell out of Dodge. I have the creeps in here.”Ruby took the totem and put it back in the hole. In another part of the cave, Ruby could hear rocks falling. “We need to get out of here because the cave is shifting.” The girls rolled the boulder back in place and made a hasty exit.Outside in the daylight, they sat on a rock ledge, out of breath and speechless. Ruby opened her backpack and pulled out an amber-‐ encased spider web. “Well, shut the front door, what the heck? Look y’all, it’s a spider web inside a piece of amber?”Anna found an amethyst stone in her pocket, and Sandy opened her thermos finding a hiddenite stone. Anna shook her head in bewilderment. “Well, I’m pretty sure these stones weren’t with us before we went inside the cave. If I wasn’t so dad blame scared, I’d take this back inside the cave, right now.”Sandy stared at her stone and then spoke quietly. “I don’t want to spook you any further, but holding this stone gave me a vision of the deity who gave us the stones. In the vision, he is relaying that we’re to keep the stones on our person at all times. He will reveal to us in time what it means and we aren’t supposed to talk about this again until he reveals it to Ruby in a dream.”The girls looked at each other wide-‐eyed, holding their stones in eerie silence. They never uttered a single word about the totem or the stones again—until years later.

D.F. Jones is a native of Middle Tennessee and is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. After college she landed a job with the ABC Affiliate in Nashville as a broadcast consultant. She opened her advertising agency in 1998. After years of writing creative for other people through her media company, she decided to write something for herself. It turned into her debut novel, Ruby’s Choice. If you love to read and get immersed into the characters of a book, then you will catch a small drift of how incredible it is to write your own characters and breathe them into life.

Creating a Book Trailer - Guest Blog and Giveaway with Traci L Slatton

Creating a Book Trailer for BLOOD SKY
By Traci L. Slatton
Usually, when I finish a novel, I contact Book Candy Studios and hire them to make a book trailer. Trailers can help market a book and get it noticed in our visually-based culture. Book Candy Studios is fantastic—everyone loves their beautiful trailers. But when I finished BLOOD SKY, Book 4 in The After Series, I had a budget in place. I’ve also been doing a lot of video work for my husband sculptor Sabin Howard, and I've become comfortable with iMovie on a Mac. So I felt ready to try my hand at creating a book trailer myself. I have no background or training in film making, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me.
First, I surfed the internet for reasonably priced footage. I ended up at Pond5.com. The tag line for this book reads, “Would you gamble everything to save everyone you love?” and the poker game is central to the story of BLOOD SKY. Reasoning that the trailer should show that, I searched for poker and card footage. I found several clips that intrigued me. Other search terms included “couple kissing” and “ominous clouds,” because of the love story with Emma and Arthur and the devastating mists, respectively.
As mentioned, I have zero background in film making, and when I assembled various clips prior to purchasing them, I was immediately confronted with the need for coherence in the video, for a unified look. I had to choose clips that would fit together, that would look right together. These clips had to have enough similarity of feel that the viewer wouldn’t be jolted out of the trailer. So I made a decision not to show an entire face in the trailer. Parts of a face, yes. So we see the poker-chip man’s face in profile, but not the whole thing, and he’s wearing dark glasses. And we don’t see the beautiful, buxom woman’s face at all.
There were other decisions to make as I proceeded. For one, how long would each clip last? Some friends in the movie biz in LA helped with this. I uploaded a first draft into youtube and sent them the link. They sent back some advice. The most important suggestion was to keep the clips short because people have short attention spans. So I shortened all the clips. One friend also suggested adding words to locate the viewer within the action—a great idea that I implemented immediately!
It was imperative that this trailer feature a great, suspenseful, moody soundtrack, and I found it immediately. It’s called “Under the Apocalyptic Sky” and was written by a composer known as RedDeer on Pond5. It was perfect for what I had in mind: bull’s eye! It was easy to work with this music, to fit it to the footage to make a video of the appropriate length.
In the end, after several hours of work and some great editorial suggestions from friends, I ended up with a trailer that gives information about BLOOD SKY in an enticing and visually appealing way. Is it a professional trailer? No, and maybe that’s part of its charm: it’s an author-created book trailer, made with old-fashioned imagination, spit, and elbow grease.

Excerpt:
From the first time I saw her over a decade ago, I knew she was the one for me. Even though we have a bit of difference in age, not very many, just about four years from what I’ve learned. The first quality that called to me was not her beauty, her presence or her innocence, but her soul. It…called to me like a beacon of pure pleasure, warmth and joy. A call which none could ever ignore, irresistible and desired. She’s always held an exquisite beauty that no other can hold a candle to. Her wavy hair carries the various color combinations only found on elm bark, it even shimmers as if it’s dusted with gold when hit with the sun’s rays. Her eyes, the portals to her soul, are the color of my favorite herb, sage. There’s no other color in those beautiful depths, they’re so pure and so beautiful, untainted by any other hues. Her lips are the plumpest, juiciest morsels I’ve ever laid my eyes upon. I’d bet her kisses taste like the berries her lips coloring resembles, a deep, natural red that calls a man’s attentions, especially when they bear a smile and show her perfect white teeth. Many times have I pictured those very lips wrapped around my cock, milking it of its essence while my lips bear only her name on a whisper of pleasure. Her body is one to be cherished and worshipped more than any Goddess who has ever existed in this realm or any other. She has the most gorgeous pair of generous breasts that I know not even my large hands could completely cover. They always seem to want to burst out of her clothing—wanting to be set free, no matter what she wears. Her legs, so strong and long, I’d swear they could wrap around me twice while I pound into her warm flesh. Her skin bears freckling on various visible areas of her body but is most prominent are on her nose and shoulders. I’ve not yet gotten to explore her in proper light or with all of her exposed to me, so I could see if she has more in other areas. I know I would kiss each and every single one I find. It will be done even if it takes me many years to do so. Then, I’d do it all over again, starting from her beautiful face and work my way back down again. Tasting and memorizing each one until she can’t take it any longer. I’ll taste and taste until she pleads for me to take her, to ravish her and mark her with my seed.I knew, and still know, from deep within, she’s the only one in existence that’ll match me in every way. Satisfy me, challenge me and placate me. All things I need and desire for the woman I hunger to spend my eternity with. She’s my perfect match. My Medusa, is the other half of me, the only one who can—who will make me whole, complete and blissful.

A.R. Von was born and raised in Bronx, NY and is the oldest daughter of two girls. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science and Information Technology, which was only briefly used. She’s a mother of two entertaining teen boys (as well as a lovely fawn Chihuahua, whom she considers her furry daughter.)

Available at Amazon and BNExcerpt from Autumn Moon
Too wired to sleep, Elen opened the wine and poured a glass, sipping quietly as she walked over to the bed. Cormack slept above the coverlet and on his back, with one arm raised over his head, while the other rested by his side. His hair was still damp from his shower, and he wore jeans but no shirt, as if he’d just rested his head and sleep claimed him first.
His chest rose and fell with even breaths. She was not one to marvel over physical attributes, but this was Cormack, and his body was meant for pleasure, like a goddess had molded him for her personal divine gratification. His frame was large, and toned, with wide shoulders and a firm chest that tapered down to his hips. His hardened stomach would provide the perfect friction were she to ride him just like this.
And as that image flooded her mind, another, more wicked one, followed. It was greedy, and selfish, but all her niceness had been used up for the day. He looked peaceful, and innocent, but the man was practically immortal after all. Their kind did not die from lack of sleep. They might go mad, of course, but that took a few weeks. And had he not said, do with me as you will?
She needed to touch him. That was all. Well, no, she wanted more, but for now that would do. Taking a sip of her wine, she gently set the glass on an end table by the bed, and gave into temptation. Starting by his heart, she brushed lightly across his chest, tracing down the indent between, and lingering on the valleys and curves of his muscles. Flattening her hand over his stomach, she felt the soft hair that began just above the waistband of his jeans and disappeared below. She had never seen him in this restful state, at least not in his human form, and took in her ravenous fill.
Her hand lingered over the button of his jeans. She swallowed, wanting… Oh, how she wanted. It burned like molten earth, fed by a need that had been denied for too long. Even now she felt her body moisten and swell just from imagining what waited beyond that closure, and how it would feel inside her.
Or how it would taste.
She thumbed the button. A quick flick was all it would take.
A sound made her jolt, an intake of breath perhaps, followed by a sudden rise under her hands. She snapped her eyes to his face.
Cormack was awake.
And watching her.
A fire raged within his cerulean gaze. “Kill me now if you stop, Elen, because then I’ll know I’m well and truly cursed and I cannot be tortured anymore.”

Anna Kyle is in Love with Her Characters
FALLING IN LOVE WITH MY CHARACTERS
Thanks for having me on your blog, Roxanne. Still cannot get “story strumpet” out of my head, btw. It’s possibly a permanent resident there now so thanks.
I absolutely love sinking into other worlds while reading. When that world blends romance with the breathless pace of an urban fantasy filled with magic, shapeshifters, vamps, or demons, even better. Throw in the sprawling epic fantasy packed with kings and intrigue and betrayals, well, all my boxes are checked and I am one happy camper. I find all that in paranormal romances. Yum and may I please have another?
So when I decided to finally put the paranormal romance rattling around in my head on paper, I knew exactly what I wanted. I created the world of the Wolf King and filled it with shapeshifters, mages, Fae and kings and sprinkled it with battles and romance and humor. The humor was key--some of my favorite PNRs made me laugh out loud.
While writing book two in the series, Skye Falling, I fell in love with Lake and Skye. The fae halfing princess Skye is funny, impulsive, smart (if a bit naïve), and boldly unafraid. When she and Lake meet, Skye is reveling in the sights and sounds of the human realm inside a nightclub in Chicago. I found her delightful to write, so different from the heroine in Book 1. One reviewer called Skye a firecracker and I l think that sums her up really well. She is also freaking determined to get what she wants, coming up with new plans on the fly if her old ones go awry (and of course they do); nothing truly stops her.
Lake, the handsome wolf shapeshifter sent to capture her, stands in her way, or tries to, anyway. As an Enforcer Lake lives and breathes the rules of war and because of that he’s very disciplined and orderly. The feisty Skye constantly surprises him. I loved exploring those two very different personalities as they clashed and then as they meshed and are tested before their HEA. I don’t think I’m giving anything away by saying the sassy princess wins her wolf. It is a romance, after all. Sigh. They truly are perfect for each other.
I hope your readers enjoy the journey of Lake and Skye as much I enjoyed writing it. Happy reading!!
About the Book:
Skye, a Fae-shapeshifter halfing, could die if she doesn’t find out how to wake her dormant wolf, so mere rumors of the Wolf King’s return are enough to convince her to sneak through the portal between Faerie and Chicago in search of his aid. But the dizzyingly bright lights and sounds of the human realm are too tempting to ignore. So is the sexy shapeshifter wolf intent on capturing her—the one who stirs her sleeping wolf just long enough to bind the handsome stranger in a mate-bond.
Lake is willing to do anything to protect the Wolf King, a man he also calls friend. So when he receives word that a Fae princess has slipped into Chicago, he suspects a plot to assassinate the Wolf King. He’s certain capturing her will be as easy as locating her—that was his first mistake. Not only is his wolf a little too interested in Skye, but the wolf accepts her mate-bond without any say-so from him. As he unravels the truth surrounding the smart-mouthed princess and whether she’s hunting his friend or being hunted by someone else, Lake’s mission changes: protect Skye at all costs. And keep her for himself.
About the Wolf King Series:
Whispers of the Wolf King’s return after a thousand years absence foretell the resurrection of an ancient evil and stir up hidden enemies. The shapeshifters, magic-users, Omegas (the shifter/mage hybrids), and the Fae must turn their blades, fangs, and claws away from each other and work together to defeat a growing horde that threatens the extinction of them all. The key to the Others’ future is connected to the past but they’re so busy fighting each other they may not see it in time.
SKYE FALLING excerpt:
Sand whipped into the air. A whirling vortex sprang up and halted the shifter’s forward progress and then lifted him four feet above the beach. Stunned by what she’d created, Skye dropped her hand and the wolf landed on the beach with a thump. Sand coated every inch of his body, but before he could act on his growl’s implied threat, Skye hurriedly lifted him back into a new sand tornado.
She’d practiced her power regularly, in secret as advised by her father, but had never been able to marshal this kind of force before. Skye could snuff out lanterns and blow papers off her father’s desk but not much more. The wolf’s surprise had turned to anger in his second ride. His eyes were narrowed against the stinging sand, but Skye could see their golden glow. The enormity of what she was about to do hit her.
She could stop it now and be returned to her father or, the lesser possibility, the torture of the Dark Fae. Both meant death.
Or.
That small word meant life. Not a tough decision. He strained to get to her and shouted, but the roar of the wind whipped his voice away. She summoned a life jacket onto his torso, followed by a pair of orange water wings around his arms. He glanced down and roared helplessly as he comprehended what she planned. He pointed a finger at her, then pointed down. Yeah, like she’d do that. Stupid wolf.
“It’s not personal, wolf,” she said, pleased her voice was calm. Skye raised her shaking hands. With a flick of her wrist she flung him out into the deep lake, far enough that she’d have a chance to escape but not so far he would succumb to hypothermia. She winced as he bounced across the lake’s surface like a skipping stone. Once. Twice. Three times before she could see him bobbing in the waves. It was done. No going back now.
She hoped he could swim and wished for a moment she had sent a raft with him. Skye took off toward Union Station in the pre-dawn shadows, ignoring the enraged wolf’s cursing dwindling in the distance. Her fingers wove as she ran and her soggy dress changed to her standard gray tunic and leggings and boots. Fear gave her an added boost of speed as she zigzagged through the city just starting to wake up. The first train out was at 6:00 a.m., only an hour away.
About the Author:
Anna wrote her first story at age 12 on her dad’s old manual typewriter and though the technology has changed, she hasn’t stopped since. She lives in the Midwest surrounded by family and friends and dogs and horses. They’ve forgiven her (mostly) when they appear in her stories. She reads everything she can get her hands on but romances, especially paranormals, are her favorite. Vampires, humans, Fae, shapeshifters, or demons, it doesn’t matter - Anna’s heart goes pitter-pat for the Happily Ever After. Hot heroes + strong, funny heroines = Awesome.

Nighttime Wishes by M.A. Church

Genre: Gay, Sci-Fi, Tentacled Alien Hero
Publisher: ARe Books
Date of Publication: Sept. 1, 2015
Word Count: 37000
Cover Artist: Erin Dameron Hill
Book Description:
When you wish upon a star… it comes true in ways you never expected.
Ziang, a tentacled warrior from the planet Maz’Rar, has come to Earth to claim his most precious prize and start a new life. When an unforeseen accident results in a crash landing, his plan for a quick removal of the human Shawn lays in a twisted ruin at his feet, much like his shuttlecraft. If that isn’t enough, the FBI is sniffing around.
Confronted by the very same alien who observed him since he wished on a shooting star as a child, Shawn finds his initial inability to communicate with Ziang leads to misunderstanding and fear. Forced to hide until rescue arrives, tensions mount. Shawn learns of Ziang’s intentions of taking him as a mate. Ziang, on the other hand, is completely befuddled at Shawn’s less than stellar response to said taking.
As they wait, a spark ignites. Turns out humans and Maz’Rarians are very compatible—tentacles and all. Shawn falls for the big alien he jokingly calls E.T. Now he must decide if he’s willing to throw away all he knows to travel the stars with Ziang.
Excerpt: Hours later the roar of what sounded like a 747 landing on his patio shook him awake. The deep hum of an engine vibrated through his body. Looking up, he saw a fireball scream across the sky, trailing smoke.“Jesus.” As he watched, the fireball crashed into the earth. Not thinking, he jumped off the lounge and ran towards the garage. Whatever that was had landed nearby and people might need help. Knowing he might find carnage at the crash scene, he shut the reality off in his mind. They were so far from town, it would take Fire and Rescue forever to get out there. That was, if they could even find the site without help. Most people stayed out of the woods at night. It was much too easy to get lost if one didn’t know the land. He checked his hip pocket for his cell, grabbed a small first aid kit, then ran to the garage. He started the four-wheeler and raced towards the accident. Whatever crashed wasn’t hard to follow—the path it left was as wide as an eighteen-wheeler. Shawn maneuvered around brush and broken trees that had been demolished in the crash. He skidded to a stop, jumped off his ATV, and ran through the smoke that drifted listlessly through the trees. He walked into a nightmare. There in the clearing, with its back to him, some sort of creature stood by a small circular disk-type craft. Its skin tone was a muddy brown with reddish geometric patterns. Its skin echoed the pattern of the leaves and trees around it, much like camouflage. Shawn gulped. Whatever it was, it was not human. It jerked around as Shawn skidded to a stop, his feet sliding out from under him. He landed on his ass at the creature’s feet. “Oh…”It looked male and was very tall. His body was heavily muscled and covered in an array of things that Shawn assumed were weapons. Shawn’s wide eyes stared at the creature’s booted feet, and then traveled up powerful thighs encased in a tight matte-black material that showed every muscle and bulge. “… my…”His thick brawny chest was clothed in a sheer, black material that fit snugly. Shawn’s journey ended at the blacked-out shield that covered its face. And what were those things writhing against its back, coming out of the back of the creature’s helmet? Was that his hair? Since when did hair move?
“… God!”
