Guest Blog - Corsair’s Cove Orchard: The Complete Set by Rachel Goldsworthy, Shelley Adina, Sharon Ashwood

It Calls Me Backby Shelley Adina
If I were asked what I love most about the Corsair’s Cove series of novellas, I could answer any number of things. The ghosts we invent in the books. The authors I work with so closely. The brainstorming weekends we share to plan the next series. All those things would be true! But the thing I really love is contained in the tag line that seemed to form when we weren’t looking:
Corsair’s Cove. The place that calls you back when you need it most.

It doesn’t say them, though it does refer to the characters. It says you, whether that’s a reader or one of the authors. Because as the world whirls around us and people find more to divide than to unite, having a safe, sunny place for my mind to go seems to be increasingly important. Not that I’m running from my responsibilities (they have feet of their own and they’d only follow). But when I need a mental rest, I go to the Cove.

The Cove, where people I know run the shops. Where roots are deep, and local history goes back a hundred and fifty years. Where the sun sparkles on the waves in the harbour, and the smell of apples is in the air. Where you hear a horn and you know it’s the ferry coming in—you hear a crack of sound and you know it’s the local carpenter building something with a hammer and nails—where you smell smoke and it’s only the old-timers burning leaves.
And that reputation for being the most haunted town in the Pacific Northwest? Some of our characters handle that better than others. As an author, it’s sometimes a bit of a shock to run into a ghost when we weren’t expecting it, like in a creek bed or a cellar. That’s a creepy moment we do our best to get on to the page. Because sometimes even the ghosts are compelled to come back by love of this place.
Just like we are.
To our town.
Corsair’s Cove.

Corsair’s Cove Orchard: The Complete Set

Rachel Goldsworthy, Shelley Adina, Sharon Ashwood

Genre: small town sweet romance with a paranormal twist

Publisher: Moonshell Books, Inc.

Date of Publication:  2018Number of pages: 344
Cover Artist: Wicked by Design
Tagline: Let Corsair’s Cove draw you home again …
Book Description:
Corsair’s Cove has a reputation for being one of the most haunted places in the Pacific Northwest. Back in Prohibition days, it was a roaring hive of rumrunners, flappers, money, and betrayal. Big Tom Macfarlane and Marigold Mayhew met in the old apple orchard, loved hard, and died young, but their story isn’t finished. Because some betrayals have consequences that echo down through time … and demand the kind of resolution that only true love can bring …
That same apple orchard has now been sold to the local carpenter to make a home for his bride—and has become a bone of contention. Who knew that the cider apple that made Joe Johannsen’s family famous during Prohibition—an apple thought to be extinct—would still be growing there?
When Joe and Siena Panati discover the secret recipe hidden in plain sight, will it mean their future—or will it tear their friendships apart? Then Sam Wilson’s return to the Cove for an antique car rally triggers a series of ghostly visitations. The last thing he needs is for Marigold’s ghost to reveal herself to Haley Struthers, the botanist who discovered the apples. But Haley has something very real to be afraid of, and only Sam can help her. It all comes to a head when Lora Trelawney returns to the Cove. With the help of Spike the bartender, she discovers that some secrets aren’t meant to be kept … even from herself … and love is the only way that the Cove’s Jazz Age secrets will ever be resolved …
Readers have fallen in love with Corsair’s Cove, its small-town atmosphere and quirky characters.  The Reading Café called the Chocolate Shop novellas “swoon-worthy love stories sure to sweeten your life.” The Orchard series simply raises the bar—giving you stories as tasty as a slice of homemade apple pie!

Excerpt From Secret Seed by Sharon Ashwood:
“I never thought I’d see you in Corsair’s Cove again,” said Eloise Wilson as she picked at the cookie crumbs on her plate. Sam’s gaze settled on his sister. She’d chosen the gingerbread cookie with big crystals of sugar on top. It was the same treat she’d always picked, all through childhood. Had two decades actually passed since then? All families had issues, but theirs were extra-special by anyone’s measure. Now they sat in the upstairs bay window of the Zephyr’s Rest Inn, the space just big enough for a tiny table and two chairs. The stage was set, but Sam wasn’t sure of his lines.“Sorry I didn’t visit sooner,” he said, sipping his mug of black coffee. No cookie for Sam—he wasn’t into sweet things. “I got busy.”“Yeah?” His sister’s bright green eyes were apprehensive, as if afraid he might vanish into mist. “Are you sure there aren’t other reasons for staying away?”Sam sighed inwardly. He loved Eloise, really he did, but she had to talk everything to death. “What do you want me to say?”“The truth?”He raised his head to answer, but instead of meeting Eloise’s eyes, something caught his attention—a flicker of something white. From his seat in the window, he could see down the long hallway with its double row of guest room doors. This place was nearly as old as the town. Sam would have stayed someplace more modern, but rooms were hard to come by in tourist season. So here he was at the Zephyr. Even in daytime there wasn’t much light in the upstairs of the inn. Nothing dispelled the shadows that clung to old places like this. That alone made his skin creep, but sometimes—like now—there was more. The young woman stood halfway down the dim corridor. She wore a pale sleeveless dress and a hat that almost hid her bobbed hair. When was that fashion from? The 1920s? 1930s? Sam wasn’t a clothes guy but he’d learned some history the hard way—like when it was lurking under the bed, ready to yell “boo!”The woman saw him looking and waved gloved fingers. Sam looked away, finding sudden interest in his coffee cup. It was never good when the ghosts knew he could see them. They always wanted help with unfinished business—as if being a psychic automatically made him a customer service desk for the dead.Eloise turned her head to follow his line of sight. “Who were you looking at?”“What are you talking about?” he asked gruffly.Eloise frowned at him. “Corsair’s Cove has more ghosts per square foot than anywhere I’ve ever been. This inn has six I’ve been able to identify.”And that was what made them siblings. Other families went for picnics or took cooking classes together. The Wilson kids saw ghosts. The big difference between them was that Eloise had always owned her gifts, however much that cost her. He was the exact opposite—don’t ask, don’t tell—which was why he avoided this town like the plague.  “Six hauntings, huh? I think I’ll be sleeping in my car.” Sam grinned to hide his thundering heart.“It was Marigold, wasn’t it?” Eloise raised one brow. “A flapper girl? She likes pretty young men.”Sam pushed his empty cup away. “That’s the last thing I need.”
“You never know.” Eloise licked sugar from her fingers. “I don’t remember you mentioning a girlfriend.”

About the Authors:
Rachel Goldsworthy grew up on the West Coast, sitting quietly in the kitchen of one aunt or another and nibbling homemade Nanaimo bars while the relations told tales. Some were factual, and some were true. When the time came to earn a living, Rachel took those listening (and eating) skills, and wrote for magazines and newspapers stories of the people and places of the coast. Now she’s writing the adventures of people she’s crazy about in Corsair’s Cove where love and family, like the tide, might ebb and flow, but chocolate is eternal. Every word is true.

Shelley Adina is the author of 24 novels published by Harlequin, Warner, and Hachette, and a dozen more published by Moonshell Books, Inc., her own independent press. She writes steampunk (including a band of air pirates), contemporary romance, and young adult fiction, and as Adina Senft, writes women’s fiction set among the Amish and other plain communities. She holds an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania, where she teaches as adjunct faculty. She won the Romance Writers of America RITA Award® for Best Inspirational Novel in 2005, was a finalist in 2006, and in 2009 was a Christy Award finalist. When she’s not writing, Shelley is usually quilting, sewing historical costumes, sneaking another succulent chocolate out of the box of See’s Nuts and Chews, or hanging out in the garden with her flock of rescued chickens.

Sharon Ashwood is a novelist, desk jockey and enthusiast for the weird and spooky. And chocolate. And pirates. Chocolate-covered pirates would be a definite plus. Sharon’s books include urban fantasy, paranormal romance, historical adventures and more. She is the winner of the RITA® Award for Paranormal Romance. She lives in the Pacific Northwest and is owned by the Demon Lord of Kitty Badness.

Excerpt:             He reached out with his Wolf senses. The feedback froze his fingers on the doorknob. Female. Damn, she smelled good. Human. Wolf. Wait…both? The copper tang of blood hit his nose. And injured.            He flung open the door. His abrupt move caught his visitor off guard, one small, white fist raised to knock. The woman startled and fell forward. Catching her, he pulled her inside, kicking the door shut with his foot.            She sagged against him, a shivering bundle of wet woman. Underneath the dampness, her scent drop-kicked his gut. Apples and cinnamon. Roses and honey. His body perked up, taking extreme notice. He fought the growl of possession threatening to tear out of his throat. Holy hell, had his potential mate just walked into his home in the middle of a storm?            The scent of her blood jump-started his brain into action. He lowered her gently to the floor. “Jesus. You okay?”             His instincts urged him to check her for wounds, but he was a stranger and didn’t want to spook her. But goddamn, he wanted to touch her. Peel off her wet clothes. See all of her. With a jacket covering her torso, tight jeans hiding her legs, and her ball cap pulled low on her face, all he’d seen so far was her quivering pale chin, full red lips, and those delicate, trembling hands.            “S-s-sorry, d-dripping all ov-v-ver your f-f-floor,” she said, teeth chattering. Her snow white fingers curled on the hardwood, arms trembling with her effort to keep herself upright. Blood streaked the wood. A line of liquid crimson slid down her jaw and dripped from her chin onto her jacket.            To hell with propriety. “You’re injured. Let me help you.” He pulled off her cap and damn near swallowed his tongue.            Big green eyes blinked up at him from a face so pale it made him think of moonlight. Drenched, short black hair lay plastered to her head, the ends framing features reminiscent of the fairies his sister loved to draw for the hidden-object games she designed. Ethereal beauty. My beauty. He stroked a knuckle down her cheek then ran his thumb over her soft, full lower lip.            She flinched and batted his hand away, falling to her side in the process.            Ross snapped back to reality with a healthy hit of guilt. “Shit. Sorry.”            His gaze shot to her forehead where a two-inch cut sent blood trailing over her prominent cheekbone with its silky-smooth skin he’d so enjoyed caressing—            Shit. He gave himself a mental ass kicking for scaring her. “I’m Ross. You’re safe here. Promise.”

Excerpt:
Seoul,South Korea. There it is again. Scratching in the walls. Harold sat up in the queen bed he shared with Silvio, his grey-haired miniature Schnauzer. He stared out into the darkness of his room, turning his head to the wall. What was that sound? Scratching…was it rats? Now it sounded like it was above him, that nails against wood kind of sound. But that didn’t make sense. He lived on the first floor of a two-story apartment building in one of the quieter neighborhoods in the Yongsan-gu area. Nothing ever happened here. While in the past, he’d had his share of crappy neighbors, Mrs. Kim was farthest from what one would consider to be a rowdy neighbor. Kim was a sweet little old lady with poorly dyed hair that gave her thinning white a touch of blue. She wore large red framed glasses and never made much of a sound, even during the day. The only complaint he would have would be the smell of kimchee that permeated through the walls whenever she cooked the awful stuff.Still, the scratching persisted.Silvio whimpered, turning his head upward at the sound, and then burying himself under the comforter.Harold looked to his quivering dog and back to the ceiling. Now there was something else. Was that…moaning? Christ, what if Mrs. Kim fell and hurt herself. She could be dying up there. I should probably call someone, emergency services…anyone. But would they get here in time to help her? What if she’s really hurt? I need to do something. He flung off his warm blanket and hopped out of bed. Harold slid on his slippers and went for the door. The hallway outside was empty, not very surprising considering most of the residents here at Yongsan-gu were nearing or past retirement. The very reason why he wanted to rent here was the quiet; nothing out of the ordinary ever happened here. A sudden cold breeze tickled his neck and arms. Pulling his robe closer to his chest, his skin breaking out in goosebumps, he quickly shuffled to the stairs.Hoping Silvio would be okay on his own, Harold climbed the short steps to the second floor.Silvio will be okay, he promised himself. It’ll only be for a few minutes.Mrs. Kim’s apartment was at the end, just above his own. Passing the door before hers he thought he’d heard the tenants arguing inside.Odd, he thought, tempted to press his ear against their door.  In all the years that Harold had lived here, he had never once heard or seen Fred and Marcy fight. Not once. They were the picture perfect boring couple, and the only other Americans living in the complex. Teachers, at some private school. Not that Harold would know much about that; he taught at the public institution, and had so for years now. As the saying goes, he was a professional bachelor and had little to nothing keeping him from wanting to return to the States. And besides, he liked it here. The culture, the food, the purposefulness, and the discipline of the students were far advanced from what he’d dealt with back in Kentucky.  Harold took a step and stopped, thought better of it, and continued to Mrs. Kim’s.He knocked on the red door.“Mrs. Kim, you in there?”No answer.“Is everything okay? I thought I heard— “The door to Fred and Marcy’s apartment flung open.Harold jumped back, pulling tighter on his robes.Someone ran out. A blur. Down the hallway to the stairs. Turning back, he stared at Harold.“Fred? What’s going on?”Fred, who was normally tan with tidily kept clothes, looked disheveled and ghostly. He’d obviously been sweating, his hair ruffled and sticking up in areas. And on his clothes, there were red stains, dark red, covering most of his untucked shirt and pant legs. On his neck, an aggravated wound, crimson and purplish, oozing down and soaking into his collar.“Fred, are you okay? Are you hurt?” Harold took a step forward.Wide eyed, Fred turned and darted down the steps.Harold watched, silent and unmoving. He eyed the open door to their apartment. No sounds came from within. He glanced at Mrs. Kim’s door and then back to Fred and Marcy’s.Swallowing hard, he moved toward the open door. With his slipper foot, he slowly nudged it open. The door creaked and stopped. No lights inside, just a dim glow coming from a lamp in the living room. Chairs were turned over, dishes smashed and broken on the floor in the kitchen.“Hello?” he called. “Marcy? It’s me, Harold, from downstairs.”Nothing.“I don’t mean to intrude, but I saw Fred. He looks hurt. Is everything okay?” Harold stopped short of coming into the kitchen completely. He saw legs and feet sticking out around the corner, lifeless on the floor.Harold gasped, covering his mouth with his cold trembling hand.“Oh no,” he whispered. He moved to the body. Marcy lay face down on the kitchen tile. Blood pooled underneath, staining her yellow polka dot dress, wet in a gamey orange.“Marcy?” Harold called out. He bent down and reached to check for a pulse. He jerked back.Marcy stirred.“Oh, God, you startled me. Marcy, are you alright?” Harold shuddered, his breath coming too fast, heart pounding against his chest.Strangely, in odd twitching movements, Marcy got to her knees and turned.“Oh no, Marcy…what…what happened? How can— “Harold wanted to scream, his breath and his heart pumping too hard to allow him.  She ground chunks of pink flesh between red stained teeth… Fred’s flesh, he was sure.Marcy groaned and lunged for him.Harold moved back just in time.! He watched as Marcy fell face first onto the kitchen tile, inching away as she began moving again, crawling, reaching out with reddened fingers, clawing at his slippered feet.“Marcy, what’s happened? What’s going?” he begged, again taking another step back out into the living room, back towards the open apartment door.Marcy groaned, annoyed and hungry, still in pursuit, still crawling.Unable to watch anymore, wanting nothing more than to run back downstairs to his own apartment, to lock and deadbolt the door, to hug close Silvio, his miniature Schnauzer, wanting nothing more than to be somewhere else, somewhere not here with this bloodied crazed woman who was no longer the Marcy he thought he knew. She’s drunk…Or on drugs, has to be.She’s not herself.Harold turned and started for the open door.He yelped.Mrs. Kim stood in the entryway. Her bluish white hair ruffled and torn. Red swollen teeth-like wounds on her arms. And her eyes, a creamy yellow white, but not a sunny yellow, rather much more like decay that reminded him of rotting things eking some measure of existence at the bottom of dumpsters. She shuffled toward him, quickly grabbing on his robe and pulling herself to him.Harold slapped at her. Hard. But her hold was strong, manically strong.“Stop, Mrs. Kim, please— “She angled down and bit his exposed wrist. Blood pooled around her lips as she gnawed and suckled, grunting with a sort of pleasurable ecstasy.Harold screamed and fought to dislodge her, but he could not remove her bite.Nails scraped his shins. He glared down.Marcy was clawing at his legs, nipping at his flesh. He kicked away, but she held fast. With a quick sneer, she bit into his calf.Harold shrieked, toppling over the couch. He rolled and hit the floor on the other side hard, knocking his head against the coffee table. Dazed, he lay there, unsure if what was happening was even real. Maybe he was still in his own apartment, fast asleep with Silvio by his side.Shuffling over, moaning deeply, Mrs. Kim reappeared, her lips wet and scarlet, dribbling down onto her white ruffle blouse. He watched, frozen, his body refusing to move.“Please…stop…don’t— “he begged.Another moaning, gurgling above him.Harold angled and watched as Marcy crawled towards him from the other side of the couch. As if driven by the smell of his wounds, she quickened her pace, scrapping along the floor. Reaching his face, she thrust her sneering teeth clamping down on his cheek, ripping, shredding loose flesh and tissue and fat, pulling back to enjoy the chunky red and purplish glob.Harold squirmed and squealed. He stared in horror as Mrs. Kim kneeled beside him, reaching with greedy claws for his now exposed belly. She tore into his flesh, bleeding him, reaching, wiggling her fingers deep inside.Harold lost his voice, whimpering and gnashing his gums as he watched in disbelief, watched as Mrs. Kim ripped out a rubbery looking hose like noddle what he could only assume to be part of his intestines. Dripping wet, she suckled and chewed hastily and dug some more. What about Silvio, he wondered, shuddering at the molten touch of Mrs. Kim digging farther into him, pulling out more of his stomach, licking, eating him alive.
My dog, what’ll happen to my Silvio…

Interview - Lady of the Crescent Moon by Ingrid Hahn

Do you title the book first or wait until after it’s complete?
I title everything before I start. I write the logline, concept, the back-cover copy, and the synopsis. All those elements are critical to me for finding a story’s place with readers. I didn’t used to do all that pre-work. Those stories floundered. Now when I start writing, I’m on much more confident and sure footed because I know what I’m working toward. That doesn’t mean things don’t change. They do. Usually for the better when I identify the holes. Having those elements in place lets me identify and address holes and weak spots much faster.

Is there a genre(s) that you’d like to write that you haven’t tackled yet?
Not a genre, but a place. I’d love to write a historical story set in Venice.
Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?
Sidonie Cordumont from my latest release, LADY OF THE CRESCENT MOON. I loved taking a non-magical stance on witches. My witches do have magic (some, not a lot), but try not to use it. They have absolutely no dealings in darker things. They are women who help. They get into dirty places and do dirty jobs for the humble people of the earth—anyone in need, really, but their calling is to live simply and humbly. That’s not what the story is about (at all), but that’s at the core of who Sidonie is. Working hard. Doing the right thing. Sidonie is social justice in action.
For the gift of Sidonie, I owe a vast debt to Terry Pratchett’s witch books. I acknowledge his badass characters in the front of my own book, one of whom, Granny Weatherwax (Esmerelda—no spelling mistake) is my all time favorite character in all the fiction I’ve read.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Switching gears drastically from my newly released angsty gothic romance set in 17th century France, a book with just enough danger sex to suit the story (one scene, but it’s good and worth waiting for), I can’t wait to tell you about WILLFUL DEPRAVITY! Coming soon from Entangled!
Going back to my roots, this book is a very, very naughty Regency romance featuring an unapologetically depraved hero and an unapologetically #effyourbeautystandards heroine.
I don’t have any details yet about a release date. We’re only just finishing the final edits as I write this. Follow me on the social media platform of your choice. When I have more details, I’ll be sharing! If you love historical naughtiness and are oh-so-very-ready for heroines with diverse body types, you won’t want to miss this one.
Enjoy an excerpt with the tantalizing hero first awakening the heroine to all the things she wants but thought she could never have:
Patience should have said no. Although not wholly appropriate, what he asked wasn’t wicked, per se. The current between them said differently. That everything he thought, said, and did was far beyond the limits of acceptable behavior.
Maybe she was tired of acceptable behavior. Maybe she was curious about what he wanted to see. Maybe she should test if what she perceived about him was anywhere near correct. She began by plucking at the fingers of her white gloves one at a time. She’d embroidered the gloves prettily with a floral pattern in ivory silk thread. All too conscious of his attention upon her every tug, she kept her gaze fastened to her work as she went. Like she was a being of utmost fascination.
Fingers of the gloves loose, Patience untied the tapes atop the arm, and, with a rush of heady, brazen daring, slid them down. Slowly, she bared her skin to him.
She chanced a glance up. Their thoughts must have matched. The intensity of his stare when their gazes met spoke of all the things going unsaid between them.
With her gloves tossed over one arm, she held out her hands for inspection.
He studied them. “Not a spot of ink to be found. Quite without fault.” He lifted his eyes, his penetrating gaze full of heat and roguish hunger. “Might I have the honor of knowing your name?”
“Miss Patience Emery.”
“Lovely. Well, Miss Emery, first I would like your permission to say something rather shocking to you.”
Shocking? A thrill skittered up Patience’s spine. Stripping her gloves away had only made her want more.
She kept her features disinterested as she bestowed a regal nod. “Do your worst, sir.”“Allow me to offer you a certain…proposition.”
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
The writing. I love it and hate it. I also have a problem with the load of bollocks writing advice floating around the internet. All writing advice is complete crap except for what works for that particular writer. Write everyday? Great! If that’s what works for you. Otherwise, write three times a week. Fastdraft twenty pages a day? Sure! If that’s what works for you. Otherwise, slogging through sentence by sentence is just fine. Your book. Your time. Your style. All your choice. Don’t let anyone bully you into thinking otherwise.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
No matter what your ideal publishing path might be, don’t publish when you are ready. Publish when your craft skills are ready. That might not come at the same time. I strongly caution against premature self-publishing. Self-publishing is a viable and powerful option; I’m absolutely not dismissing it. Waiting sucks almost as much as rejection. Don’t rush. Don’t rush. Don’t rush. A well-written book and beautifully told story are worth it.
What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
I’m thinking of picking up a pumpkin spice latte habit this autumn out of protest for the internet being down on people (*ahem* women) who enjoy them. I’ve only ever had one once by accident when the barista made the wrong drink. I didn’t think much about them one way or the other until the derision and judgement began.
Maybe in a world of endless chain stores and restaurants, people are craving something different. If that’s the case, tearing down the people who enjoy the drink is not the way to affect change. Frequenting your own local businesses, however…
When you’re not writing what do you do? Do you have any hobbies or guilty pleasures?
No pleasure should be guilty! I enjoy all my pleasures to the fullest. Wine. Chocolate. The entire box of chocolates in one sitting. Champagne for absolutely no reason at all other than it’s fun to drink.

Book Description:
Normandy, 1679…
An age of high baroque splendor and excess. An age of new enlightenments; the dawn of the new epoch amid the clutter of a dying era. An age of curses and magic. An age of superstition, witches, and witch hunts.
Sidonie Cordumont is not powerful enough to save her fellow witches, imprisoned in the secret dungeons of Paris. She returns to Normandy, the place of her birth, desperately seeking help to defeat the impossible foe intent on ridding the land of her brethren. Instead, she falls into the clutches of a man she never believed she’d see again. A man she’d once hoped to marry.
The last thing Roland, Marquis d’Ambroisin, expects is to have the woman he lost tumble into his arms in the dead of night, no better than a common thief. But once he’s caught her, he doesn’t want to let her go. Unfortunately, she’s on a reckless mission, and he’s helpless to do the one thing he wants above all—protect her.
Until a promise to his dying mother binds them together…

Excerpt:
Sidonie didn’t know she’d taken a step backward until there came a crunching sound from beneath the heavy soles of her worn boots. A shiver rattled down her spine. She wouldn’t dare take her gaze from the figure, not even to blink, but there was a dry quality to the sound. She didn’t need to look to know what she’d crushed. It was an old bone. Her back hit something solid and large hands closed gently around the tops of her arms. Roland’s smell made her heart leap. He’d safeguard her. All the protection she hadn’t thought she needed or wanted, she did. At least until she regained her equilibrium. Slowly, as if he occupied a separate realm where time trickled instead of spun, the haunted man raised his head, his gaze focusing over her shoulder. The man . . . entity . . . Jacques . . . whatever he might have been, his voice was like sand. “Good day, Sidonie. We have been waiting for you.”
Her mouth went dry and panic pounded through her veins. It was too soon. She couldn’t die yet. “Waiting . . . for me?”

ISBN: 978-1717837547
Number of pages: 301Word Count: 55000
Book Description:
Beau
She is beautiful, probably the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, but she's damaged. Her a-hole exboyfriend broke her. I still want her. I can show her that all men aren't the same. That I'm different. But time isn't on my side, I've only got a few weeks to make her mine before she's gone forever.
Mallory
He's everything I need to stay away from, handsome, cocky, and irresistible. I try to resist him. I really do, but he's relentless. Against my better judgment, I give in and let him have me. All of me. I should have known better.
Can’t Let Go is a heart-warming love story about Beau, a country boy with a heart of gold, and Mallory, a woman scorned. The timing couldn’t be more wrong, but sometimes someone walks into your life and you just can’t let them go.

Excerpt 2
My eyes are heavy. I lean the seat back and let them drift shut, enjoying the rocking sensation in my head. The door opens again, and I squeeze my eyes tighter, casting out its brightness. I can sense a body next to me, but it doesn’t smell like Shannon. It smells like whiskey, spices, and wood. Peeling one eye open, I turn my neck. A black cowboy hat shadows most of the face that is looking at me. I open both eyes and lift my head off the seat. He tips the front of his hat at me. I blush, not because I’m flattered, but because people don’t do things like that where I’m from. “Hey, there sexy thay-ung.” He has a thick, southern accent, and his words slur. I press my lips into a firm line, fighting a smile. The passenger door closes, and the light goes out. But the glow of the streetlight is just bright enough that we can still see each other. “You’re so day-um pri-eee.” With his thick drawl, I can’t tell if the over annunciation is from his southern twang or the alcohol. “Thanks.” I feel his eyes on me. My stomach flutters. Why is it fluttering? No. I can’t go down that rabbit hole again; it’s too soon. Needing a distraction, I grab my phone from the center console and troll Facebook for pictures from tonight. He can’t keep flirting if I refuse to look at him. Mr. Cowboy shifts in the corner of my eye. The sound of his body moving against the leather seat is hard to ignore. He leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees, hands clasped together. What is he doing?Abruptly, he turns to me and says, “I’m a bull rider.”“Excuse me?”His chest puffs. He leans closer, his warm whiskey breath blowing on my face. “I’m a bull rider.” “So?”
