THIS is how to do “Best (gender) Erotica.”
Burning Book Press has a new call for submissions, for a “Best Men’s Erotica” anthology. Here’s a quote:
Best Men’s Erotica 2014 is to be the first of an annual collection of the best erotic stories from a male perspective. … Something the best writers, male and female can give us in spades.
(Emphasis mine)
And another quote:
We’re looking for fictional stories that realistically address male sexuality. The concept of the Male Gaze has dealt extensively with the sexualization and objectification of women. It has also buttonholed, objectified, and ‘predatorized’ male sexuality. BME hopes to demonstrate a broader, more realistic, and human spectrum.
Hallelujah, siblings. I am so glad that Raziel Moore and William Crimson are stepping up and taking this on, head-on. I’m going to go out of my way to put something together for this anthology, especially since they allow for speculative fiction.
We’ve been waiting for this for TOO long. I wrote about this topic a few years back. Every time a certain anthology comes up with its annual call for submissions, the topic makes another rotation on the email lists, and a few people tut-tut and maybe write a blogpost.
Now these two brave gentlemen are stepping up and doing something.
Bravo.

Episode 273 – The Choosing
This episode is “The Choosing” written by yours truly and read by Kris Bays of Pendant Audio Productions.
After the story, there’s mention of some anthologies I’ve been published in lately that have been getting good reviews. The first is “Coming Together: In Vein” a collection of vampire stories edited by Lisabet Sarai. As usual, buying on All Romance Ebooks sends the most money to the charity, which in this case is Doctors Without Borders.

(You can get it elsewhere, if you must)
The other title I mention is Fantastic Erotica: the Best of Circlet Press 2008-2012 which has been getting fantastic reviews in some very prestigious places. It includes my story, “Vision in Xrays and Visible Light.”

The Next Big Thing
I’ve been tagged by I. G. Frederick to participate in “The Next Big Thing” which is something like a blogpost chain letter… you know the sort of thing, answer a bunch of questions and then tag people to participate. My Next Big Thing is “Hunters,” the third book in the Orgone Chronicles. See the questions and answers after the jump…
1) What is the working title of your book? Hunters
2) Where did the idea for the book come from? This book
3) What genre does it fall under? Erotic Science Fiction
4) Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I am really not much of a movie-watcher, nor do I watch a lot of TV. If you want to know who would be the best people to play my characters, other folks have played the casting game with more authority than I have.
5) What is the one sentence synopsis of your book? Bringing Down the Evil Empire One Orgasm at a Time.
6) Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? It will be published by Logical Lust, who published the first two books in the series..
7) How long did it take you to write the first draft? About forty days. Then I scrapped the last third of the book, and I’m rewriting it.
8) What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I have actually had people compare the first two books to “Foundation” by Asimov, of all things. Personally, I was blown away by that.
9) Who or what inspired you to write this book? The story’s not done.
10) What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? What would happen if starships were powered by orgasms?
Well, for one thing you’d get some unfamiliar military structures, and a commoditization of sex on a completely different wavelength.
The Orgone Chronicles explores what sex means to people on many different levels, in addition to being an exciting action story.
If you’re just joining “The Next Big Thing” tour, you can link to some previous posts via Cecilia Tan who was tagged by Jason Rubis who had been tagged by M. Christian .
Here are the folks I’m tagging to be the next Next Big Thing authors:
