Ryan O'Connell on Gay Men Bottoming in "Special," Kid Attacked At School Because He's Gay, Ryan Field Books

Ryan O'Connell on Gay Men Bottoming in "Special"

We just finished watching the second season of Ryan O'Connell's, "Special,"  and I loved it. Unfortunately, it's also the last season. You can watch both seasons on Netflix and I highly recommend it. I'm sorry there won't be a third. But that's what happens to authentic gay content. They will give an Oscar to creepy films with inauthentic gay content that were written and performed by straights like Armie Hammer, but they won't give the real deal...

Russia Warns Disney About Releasing a Gay Film Called "Out", Ryan Field Books

Russia Warns Disney About Releasing Gay Film Called "Out"

This sounds to me like it's all about that propaganda law in Russia from 2013 that bans anything LGBTQ-related that's positive. It's really a terrible law and I feel so bad for anyone who lives in Russia.

MOSCOW — Walt Disney Co was warned by Russia's communications regulator Roskomnadzor against distributing content it said was harmful to the country's children with its release of a short film, "Out," which features a gay main character....

Graham Rogers In "The Kominsky Method" Season 3, NYC Pride Backlash After No Cops Allowed Decision, Ryan Field Books

Graham Rogers In "The Kominsky Method" Season 3

There's a Netflix original series called, "The Kominsky Method," starring Michael Douglas and a list of other excellent actors that is in its 3rd season. But there's also a younger actor named Graham Rogers playing a minor part who happens to be excellent. He does a lot of other shows. I can't remember the names of all of them, but one is the series, "Atypical."

In any event, "The Kominsky Method" is only back for one more season, which is the 3rd s...

91 Year Old Gay Rights Pioneer Kay Lahusen Dies, Ryan Field Books

91-Year-Old Gay Rights Pioneer Kay Lahusen Dies

This is definitely a story you'll want to read. I didn't know much about Kay Lahusen until I read it. And she was from an area near Philadelphia that I know very well. I really wish I had known more about her. This is definitely part of gay history.

Kay Lahusen, a pioneering gay rights activist who chronicled the movement’s earliest days through her photography and writing, has died. She was 91.

Here's the rest.  There's a nice photo and a lot more ...

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Sued Over Refusing Interviews with White Journalists, Ryan Field Books

Chicago Mayor Sued Over Refusing Interviews with White Journalists

I have to admit that whenever I hear a straight journalist interview someone who's gay, I often cringe a little. Most straight people simply do not understand the first thing about being gay and they never will. With that said, we as gay people have learned to live with it, and simply deal with it, and move on. I think anyone who's part of a marginalized group learns fast how to live with certain things.

But Mayor Lori Lightfoot ...

New Release: The Wizard of Pride by Ryan Field, Books by Ryan Field

New Release: The Wizard of Pride

I have a new book coming out with Riverdale Ave Books that's titled, The Wizard of Pride. The book was written well over a year ago...maybe two. I lost track. The publisher got really busy with a few personal issues, I got really busy with moving issues, and we all kept putting the book on the proverbial back burner temporarily. But we didn't forget about it. And it's coming out soon, just in time for Pride month.

It's really a total parody of The Wizard of Oz. A...

Ryan O'Connell is Back with Season 2 of "Special" and You'll Love It, Ryan Field Books

Ryan O'Connell is Back with Season 2 of "Special" and You'll Love It

We're so used to getting inauthentic gay content on TV, in books, and in films, that we are often stunned when we actually get real authentic gay content. I know that's how I feel every time I watch Ryan O'Connell's "Special" on Netflix. As far as I can tell, there are no straight people pretending to be gay, there are no straight storylines pretending to be gay, and they even make a few interesting social commentaries to which ...

Hit Top 40 Song From 1950s with a Hidden Gay Message: Secretly and Steve Grand Changed the Game For Me, Ryan Field Books

Hit Top 40 Song From 1950s with a Hidden Gay Message: Secretly and Steve Grand Changed the Game For Me

Straight people don't realize a lot of things with regard to being gay and just living daily life. They take for granted that all the top 40 love songs they've ever heard are about men and women, not about same-sex lovers. But we...gay people...know this and we learn this at an early age. The song, in general, has always been about Jack and Diane, not Jack and David. It becomes a way of life.

Bu...

A Secret Gay Love Story of William Clark of the Gilded Age, Ryan Field Books

A Secret Gay Love Story of William Clark in the Gilded Age

When I wrote the love story, Unmentionable: The Men Who Loved On The Titanic, I had trouble finding out anything about "gay" people from the Edwardian era. Or from any time period prior to the 1960s for that matter. That's because everyone was so closeted and secretive the word gay wasn't even used to represent people who loved the same sex. For the most part, it just wasn't mentioned at all. So everything in my book is total fiction. How...

Openly Gay Police Officer Asks Denver Pride to Reconsider Allowing Police, Ryan Field Books

Openly Gay Police Officer Asks Denver Pride to Reconsider Allowing Police

I didn't know that Denver was doing the same thing as NYC with regard to discriminating against openly gay police officers by excluding them from Pride events. Now I'm wondering who else is doing this.

As a result, an openly gay cop in Denver decided to write a letter asking Pride organizers to reconsider allowing Police to attend.

"We've gone from the Stonewall riots to an age where now we have openly gay police serving o...
