Pasadena's Only Gay Bar Is Fighting For Its Life To Remain In Business, Ryan Field Books

Pasadena's Only Gay Bar Is Fighting For Its Life To Ramin In Business

At this point, I can't even remember how many times in the last 15 years I have posted about gay bars and gay venues closing up for good. I've mentioned how it happened in my own small town, New Hope, PA, with 3 long-time gay bars, and how it's happened all over the world. Yes, from London to San Francisco, the gay bars have been shuttering for some very specific reasons. One of which is that the Internet and hook-up apps have ...

Brazil's Homophobia, Hate Crimes, and Barbaric Gang Rape of Gay Men, Ryan Field Books

Brazil's Homophobia, Hate Crimes, and Barbaric Gang Rape of Gay Men

This is news to me because I never considered Brazil a homophobic country. Tony used to travel there on business all the time and he never mentioned any homophobia. Apparently, there's quite a bit of homophobia there.

An act of “barbaric” violence where a 22-year-old gay man was gang-raped and tortured has prompted fierce reaction in Brazil and is evidence of a growing tide of hate crime in the country, according to human rights ...

Gay Albuquerque Council Members Say They Were Excluded From Pride Events, 16 Questionable Gay Tweets This Week, Ryan Field Books

Gay Albuquerque Council Members Say They Were Excluded From Pride Events

I love the city of Albuquerque. When we travel cross country by car Albuquerque is our first stop for the night heading back east, and it's our last stop on the way to Palm Springs. It's roughly 12 hours from downtown Palm Springs, and we drive straight through. I've always felt comfortable there.

With that said, 2 Albuquerque council members are now claiming they were excluded from Pride Events.

Michaela Kennedy Andrew Cuomo's Daughter Comes Out As Queer, Pride Month and Hillary Duff's 2008 'That's so Gay' Comment About Homophobia, Ryan Field Books

Michaela Kennedy Andrew Cuomo's Daughter Comes Out As Queer

I'm not totally sure if this means Michaela Kennedy is bisexual or gay, but she came out as queer and she posted a whole explanation on social media. And I guess that's all we need to know for now.

"To those who are contending with the compulsive heterosexuality our society force feeds us and innate attraction beyond cis het folks, please know that you are not alone," she wrote.

Here's more.  There are photos of her and it's a rather lon...

When Hollywood Celebrities Use Pride to Get Attention and Valerie Bertinelli's Toxic Masculinity Cooking Show, Gay Jewish Scientist and the Nazis, Ryan Field Books

When Hollywood Celebrities Use Pride to Get Attention and Valerie Bertinelli's Toxic Masculinity Cooking Show

First, this is a post that's not something we see mentioned often, and that's because it falls under the proverbial radar all the time. But all gay people have seen it or experienced it at one point or another. And there's nothing wrong with pointing something out. It's also not the most harmful thing in the world.

I see straight celebrities Tweeting all the time and most are supportive a...

What Does LGBTQ Plus Mean? Defining the LGBTQ Plus In Detail From Vanderbilt University, Ryan Field Books

What Does LGBTQ Plus Mean? Defining the LGBTQ Plus In Detail From Vanderbilt University

The other night a gay friend of mine on social media was questioning how someone who's not gay can identify as "queer." Several people commented with their thoughts on what "queer" meant, and each person had a slightly different POV.

I started wondering about all this and I realized I'm not totally sure what everything in LGBTQ plus means either, at least not totally sure. So I did a search and I found this li...

"Dance of the Forty One": Gay Mexican Scandal, Ryan Field Books

"Dance of the Forty One": Gay Mexican Scandal

Last week I posted about a new film that dropped on Netflix called, "Dance of the Forty One." It's about a huge gay scandal that happened in Mexico over 100 years ago. We started watching and we both found it fascinating.

The scandal rocked Mexico’s high society, and it was rumoured that one more man had attended the ball – the president’s son-in-law, Ignacio de la Torre y Mier – but that he had been allowed to go free because of his status.

Here's mor...

How Marriage Equality Started In Vermont and the Documentary Tony and I Did Called "The State of Marriage," Ryan Field Books

How Marriage Equality Started In Vermont and the Documentary Tony and I Did Called "The State of Marriage"

Back in 2014, I posted about our legal gay wedding in Vermont, here. It started out as just a quiet little weekend so that we could get legally married after being together for over 20 years. We didn't even have family or friends there. We didn't want to make anyone feel obligated to travel 10 hours by car to Vermont for our wedding. We chose Vermont because it's so rich with same-sex marria...

Straight Seattle Boaters Harass Another Group with "Gay Pride" Flags, Ryan Field Books

Straight Seattle Boaters Harass Another Group with "Gay Pride" Flags

This is how backward the straight mainstream media can be sometimes. I can understand everyday people getting confused with this, but the media should know better. I put "gay pride" flags in quotes because I'm kind of shocked that people would still refer to the rainbow flag that way. That flag represents everyone in the LGBTQ+ community, not just gay people. It's much nicer to call it the Pride flag, or the Rainbow flag. Or ev...

The History Behind Pride Month, Pride Month Calendar of Facts, Ryan Field Books

 The History Behind Pride Month

I think a lot of people are clueless about these things. I know I am sometimes. So I figured I would post a few things about Pride month that you may or may not know. And let's face it, it's a whole different year now. Last year, thanks to COVID, we hardly even heard about Pride month. All events were canceled and anything that did happen, happened online.

...it started out as a protest. June 28, 1969 marks the start of the Stonewall riots in which the queer commun...
