A very good gay male author friend of mine has been dealing with the attack of straight women writing gay fiction simply because he said he doesn't believe that straight women can capture the authenticity of gay culture the same way gay men can do it. This is a good opinion piece about what it was like growing up gay in the 1970s. Life was very different back then for gay men. But the author believes it’s more difficult today for all LGBTQ kids for various reasons. He makes a few good points. 

It saddens me to realize that as a young gay man in the late 70′s, I probably got a more affirming education than LGBTQ students in Alabama may get today.

This happened in Guerneville, California. A group of anti-gay protesters set up shop on Main Street and they started to drive the town wild with screaming and shouting and obnoxious behavior. So a group of local citizens decided to counter-protest.

Well, here we go with something different. A gay porn star, Steven Miles, who uses the oh so clever stage name Sergeant Miles, was allegedly one of the Trump supporters who stormed the Capital. He's from Florida and they just arrested him on April 12th.

This is scary because it can happen to any gay parents, it can happen anywhere, and these anti-gay MAGA types are all over the place. Many of whom are straight women. 

In this particular case, it was two gay men taking a short business trip from LA to Oakland, CA, one of whom works for the LGBTQIA publication, The Advocate. They also had their two beautiful, innocent children along with them. This really is brutal for a small child....

First of all, I wouldn't support anything even remotely associated with transphobic JK Rowling, and Rowling did work on Fantastic Beasts and it does act as a prequel to the Harry Potter books.
