Books, Promotion, and Social Media, Ryan Field Books

 Books, Promotion, and Social Media

I first started on social media with blogging. Google blogger to be exact. Back then, the late 90s and early 2000s, there were blogging communities where people with things in common interacted all the time. In the gay world I worked for a blog called Best Gay Blogs for about 3 years. The main web site of Best Gay Blogs had lists of almost every gay blogger there was at the time. I would read them, comment on them, and review them. I mostly gave good reviews. E...

The Bay Gay Rodeo is Back with Plenty of Camp, Ryan Field Books

The Bay Gay Rodeo is Back with Plenty of Camp

All of my life I have been hearing about the all gay rodeo and yet I have never seen one in person. And there's really no set reason for that. I just never made the time. It has been a big part of gay culture for many years.

Well, this year the North Bay Gay rodeo is back again and it promises fun and camp for all.

It's one of those events that has become a staple for so many.

They've been doing this for 28 years. And it's put on by the GSGRA-BAC.

I'm...

Openly Gay Player Snags Rugby World Cup Honor, Ryan Field Books

Openly Gay Player Snags Rugby World Cup Honor

Cyril Leroy is an openly gay rugby player who was selected by the French Rugby Federation to be the game's official ball-carrier.

Apparently, this is a big honor for Rugby players. (I know nothing about Rugby.)

“It’s a big symbol. We’ll have the opening ceremony, and President Macron and other dignitaries will be in the stadium, so I’m really pleased.”

Here's the link. I agree with him. As more and more symbols like this are given to gay people the mor...

Ian McKellen Says Life is Better After he Came Out as Gay, Ryan Field Books

Ian McKellen Says Life is Better After he Came Out as Gay

One of the things I have always noticed is that no one who has ever come out as gay has regretted it. I honestly have never seen that happen.

With that said, Ian McKellen is talking about how his life improved after he came out. This man is always such an inspiration.

“Almost overnight everything in my life changed for the better — my relationships with people and my whole attitude toward acting changed,” McKellen told the outlet.

Here's m...

Columbus, Ohio Gay Bar and Owner's GOP Contributions Spark Controversy, Ryan Field Books

Columbus, Ohio Gay Bar and Owner's GOP Contributions Spark Controversy

This is one of those articles that will hurt your head unless you are familiar with the local terrain. And I'm not familiar with anything related to Ohio. For example, if you don't already know what "Short North" means you're going to have to figure it out.

However, the entire article in general is a good example of how many in the LGBTQ community view the GOP, and anyone associated with the GOP. It also gets into safe spaces...

Carl Nassib First Openly Gay Player in the NFL is Retiring, Ryan Field Books

Carl Nassib First Openly Gay Player in the NFL is Retiring

Carl Nassib made history when he became the first openly gay player in the NFL in 2021.

Now he's retiring.

He spoke to CBS about it recently.

"Football has been something I've been doing since I was eight, and I just felt like I'm very proud of my career. I've played a lot of games, played a lot of football, and I'm ready to move on to the next chapter," Nassib said.

He will now focus on some kind of fundraising app called Rayze. And he is...

The Horrors of Being Gay in Nigeria, Ryan Field Books

The Horrors of Being Gay in Nigeria

There are more than a few places in Africa that criminalize and treat gay people as though they are second class citizens. There is NO equality in these places for anyone who is gay.

When I posted the title of this post, I kept it ambiguous because bad things happen to gay people in these places all the time. This is just another one.

There are more than 60 people in jail in Nigeria. Allegedly, there was a gay wedding and that is illegal in Nigeria.

"The suspec...

Gay Softball World Series Draws Thousands, Ryan Field Books

Gay Softball World Series Draws Thousands

The Twin Cities have been on fire lately with people traveling from all over the country to see the gay softball world series.

There were 225 teams and 4,500 people participating.

You can check out tons of photos, right here. And they truly are good, professional photos.

Interesting how we never see this kind of thing trending on social media...or in the mainstream media for that matter.

God forbid a drag queen should read a story in a library, but when ...

Gay Doctor Feels Bad about Leaving State of Louisiana, Ryan Field Books

Gay Doctor Feels Bad about Leaving State of Louisiana

I think this kind of thing is happening to many of us with these new anti-gay laws, and the new openly anti-gay sentiments going around. It's happened to me with a celebrity I followed for years. Someone I liked and admired. I even followed their manager. However, they took on a job with an openly anti-gay cable TV network and it just changed my entire outlook on them. I understand people need to make money. I understand people need to grab w...

This Guy Doesn't Feel Safe to be Gay in Public and Rightly So, Ryan Field Books

This Guy Doesn't Feel Safe to be Gay in Public and Rightly So

Someone who is queer wrote a piece about how he doesn't feel safe to be in public. I haven't experienced it, but I'm hearing a lot about it.

With that said, he lives in rural upstate NY and claims he had to go back into the closet after two decades. He claims he is changing his appearance thanks to the growing hostility toward gay people in the US. He hides his bright blond hair with a baseball cap and wears dark shades to hide his fe...
