Tony's First Valentine

When I met Tony twenty years ago it was December 1992 right before Christmas, and Valentines Day was just around the corner. We actually met at a nightclub called Gatsby's that was located in New Jersey just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. It was a Saturday night, about twenty below zero out, and we'd just had a huge snowstorm. It wasn't a club I would normally have gone to on a Saturday night, but there was some kind of strip show going on at midnight and I didn't feel like...

The Women Who Love to Love Gay Romance: Call For Submissions: Erotica Readers and Writers Association

My call for submissions, for the anthology, "The Women Who Love to Love Gay Romance," is now up on the Erotica Readers and Writers Association calls for submission page.

You can get there from here.

I will post more in the future as things progress. I've had a lot of interest so far and I think this is going to be an exciting project.

Big thanks to ERaWA.

Harry Hamlin: Shameless; Review: River of Tears by Michele L. Montgomery

Before I get into my review of "River of Tears," by Michele L. Montgomery, I wanted to mention something about actor Harry Hamlin who is now playing an interesting role on the TV show, "Shameless."

Hamlin has been around for a while, and he's starred in several projects that have gay themes. In "Shameless," he plays the wealthy father of Steve/Jimmy, who is also having a down-low sexual relationship with Steve/Jimmy's girlfriend's younger brother, Ian. You can read more about "Shameless,"...

Maggie Smith Quotes Downton Abbey: My Interview with Gay Philly; Why Gays Need Benefits

One of the things I love about following the PBS series, "Downton Abbey," is the one-liners that come from Maggie Smith who plays the Dowager Countess. I was a fan of "Upstairs Downstairs," and other TV shows like this but I don't think I have ever heard such clever lines so continuously each week. I love the show for a multitude of reasons, including the way it's written, but the one-liners keep me waiting for each scene Smith is in. The interesting thing is she is the ultimate snob, and in...

Gay Double Standard: Bloomberg Obit on Koch; Essie Mae Washington-Williams Obit in Time Magazine

I actually don't like revisiting this topic, about how all things gay were ignored in most obits of former NY Mayor Koch. But I recently read NY Mayor Bloomberg's obit on Koch in the Milestones section of Time Magazine and I found the same double standard for gays I see all the time right next to an obit for Essie Mae Washington-Williams, side by side, on the very same page. I don't know if this was an accident, or if this was done on purpose as a subtle hint. But either way it's the kind of...

Facebook Bug Shuts Web Down; Freedom to Marry

The article to which I'm linking explains more about the issues Facebook had last week, which seemed to be about Facebook's connect API that resulted in shutting down more than a few web sites. This article from Technorati explains it fairly well.

The said Facebook glitch apparently stemmed from the company's Connect software, a system that lets outside websites sync with Facebook, so people can do things such as post "Likes" or comments back to friends, or log in using their Facebook identiti...

Philly Gay Chorus Bachelor Auction; Guys in Sweat Pants; Erotic Readers and Writers Association

The Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus is having a bachelor auction and tea dance next weekend, and here's a link to read more about it.

This is one of those winter events that everyone looks forward to, and where you can count on all kinds of interesting events. I've heard the chorus, and I've had good friends who were part of the chorus, and they are very good. It's a great organization to support, too. It's also a nice day trip for New Yorkers looking to get out of town for the day.

Why wa...

What the Hell Are Used E-books?

What the hell, indeed, are used e-books?

I've been reading more than a few articles about Amazon's latest conquest: a patent they filed for in 2009 and won on January 29 this year that would somehow allow them to sell used e-books. The only problem is that most people don't seem to know what used e-books are. This is from Publisher's Weekly:

Amazon’s business model has long been dependent on resellers of used books and other merchandise. But a U.S. patent that Amazon Technologies in Reno, Nev.,...

Release Day: "With This Cowboy I Love So Freely"

Tomorrow is the release day for "With This Cowboy I Love So Freely" and I wanted to post something about it tonight because I know tomorrow is going to be a busy day and I might not have time to get to it until later in the afternoon. Or, I might forget all about it until two o'clock Saturday morning, which usually happens.

As I posted earlier this month, this is a collection of all the gay western love stories I've written for Loveyoudivine.com so far.

Here's a link. Here's another. I will u...
