A lot of people don't know about this so I figured I'd post a few things just to give a few basic examples. Frankly, I'm not a huge fan of Call-Out Culture unless it's an absolute last resort. I've seen too much of this kind of thing online over the years with writers groups and it eventually becomes toxic. But I also believe that there are times when it works. Earlier this week I posted about what's going on with RWA (Romance Writers of America) and romance author, Courtney Milan, with regard to racism. I've been following the story for my own personal reasons because issues like racism often go hand in hand with homophobia, which I've been dealing with all my life...especially in book publishing.
With that said, I'm linking to this opinion piece to spread awareness to people who haven't been following...

Apparently, this is one of the stories from 2019 they decided to re-post on Queerty.
A footballer from Northern Ireland named Gavin Whyte had an explicit video out with adult content last year that caused a few heads to turn. It almost got him into trouble with the law, but not big trouble.
Frankly, I don't think it's all that bad. Just a little harmless fun.

I've posted a few times about how much I love the streaming TV series on Amazon, After Forever. Well season 2 starts tonight, on New Year's Eve. I've seen it trending on social media, but not trending like straight TV shows or movies, so let's spread this around.
A lot of older gay men don't know when these things come out, and unfortunately, a lot still don't stream TV. This might be a good incentive to unplug from cable and learn...

About 10 or 11 years ago a publisher with whom I was working closely said, "Ryan, you have to join RWA." And I replied the same way I reply to anyone who says something like that to me, "I don't have to do anything." (RWA is Romance Writers of America.)
With that said, I obviously haven't been following the controversy regarding RWA too closely, but ever since that homophobic Hallmark debacle a few weeks ago I do think this entire mess is...

I should have posted about this much sooner, but I totally forgot. They are having a holiday week sale over at Smashwords and all of my books are on sale, plus the books I've edited and published with others. But almost all of them are my books.
It's a nice alternative to Amazon, the sale is easy to figure out, and Smashwords is a great site to navigate. I buy a lot of e-books there myself.
