Sophie's Secret by Susanna Kearsley

Sophia's Secret Sophia's Secret by Susanna Kearsley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Any book that makes me cry instantly becomes an all time favourite and bookshelf keeper!

I loved this book!

Susanna Kearsley is an author to be admired. The way she wove the two stories in one was so very good, I didn't want this book to end.

Two heroines, two heroes, the present, the past (1708), genealogy, great characters, rich details and a true sense of her surroundings makes this book a very worthy read.

When you've read this book, a...

The Bark Cutters by Nicole Alexander

I read this book in two days. I liked how the author split the story into two - 1980s and 1860s. I believe this is the authors debut fiction book and she has done a great job on creating a very real and engaging story, or I should say two stories.

The feel and vibe of outback Australia is clearly drawn, the characters both modern and historical deal with everyday issues which affect us all.

The writing is smooth, the descriptions defined and the emotions well felt. The flow between both stories...

A Summer Fling by Milly Johnson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed reading A Summer Fling by Milly Johnson. The characters felt like friends by the end of the book as they were very much true to life and engaging. Milly Johnson brings out the best of Yorkshire humour and her characters' traits, especially the five women featured in this book.

This books is one to curl up with!

The Traitor's Wife by Susan Higgbotham

The Traitor's Wife The Traitor's Wife by Susan Higginbotham

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fabulous book. I really enjoyed The Traitor's Wife. The rich historical details were wonderful and the characters full of life and true to their period, including the habit of people all having the same name!

I reccommend this book to anyone who likes engrossing mainstream historical novels.

On the weekend, Sunday afternoon to be precise, hubby and I went for a drive and ended up out at the Burragorang Valley look out, which is close to the coal mines (now defunct) that hubby and his father worked in several years ago. It is a very pretty area of N.S.W and about an hor's drive from where we live. For more history on the valley go here http://www.stonequarry.com.au/nature/burragorang.html and to buy books on the area and sitrict go here http://www.megalongbooks.com/history.html

Someone Like You by Cathy Kelly

For some reason I am one of those people who don't read popular authors when they first become popular. I'm not sure why that is - perhaps it is because I read a lot of lesser known authors and enjoy supporting them.
Anyway, now I have finally read a Cathy Kelly book, I know I'll come back for more.
The book, Someone Like You, is set in Ireland and tells the story of three women, with very different backgrounds, coming together on a holiday in Egypt. They soon become friends and that...

Audio cds arrived!

Today's post brought my author copies of Woodland Daughter in audio cds!

I've never had one of my books done as in audio before. The cover of the audio case looks wonderful.
I wasn't sure how I'd feel hearing someone say my words, but I need not have worried. Anne Dover, the reader, has done a fantastic job. I'm so pleased.

After listening to it for a while I even forgot that the story was mine and became engrossed in the story! So funny.

Woodland Daughter in audio (varying formats) is availab...

We just had a long weekend here in Australia to celebrate the Queen's birthday (which is just stupid since she was born in April!) anyway, with everyone being home I didn't spend much time on the computer but instead did family stuff like watch movies. We went to the cinema and watched the A-Team, which we enjoyed, and for me personally spending 2 hours watching the delectable Bradley Cooper is a good way to spend a winter's afternoon!
From the video hire shop (yes I know I should call it the ...
