Today Marks the 50th Release Anniversary
Today is my 50th anniversary of regaining freedom from my POW experience, and heres some silent footage during my release. My group of POWs in Vietnam stepped forward on March 14, 1973 and ever since the lock has always been on the inside of the door.
In addition to the release of my new book Captured by Love, you will see many celebrations throughout the year. I’m thanking God today for my safe return.

Leadership History Lesson for March 12th
On this day in leadership history in 1985, former U.S. President Richard M. Nixon announced that he planned to drop Secret Service protection and hire his own bodyguards in an effort to lower the deficit by $3 million.
Whats the leadership lesson? On some level, honorable leaders make sacrifices every day with their time, talent, or money. Tell an honorable leader thank you today!

3 Quick Questions to Ask When Resilience is Needed
Honor was an important part of our resilience that helped us endure the POW era, and its closely tied to values and commitment. By definition, honor is adherence to what is right or to a conventional standard of conduct.
In reflection, I saw how the concept of honor had helped us endure, do our duty, and achieve our mission. it gave us a framework for maintaining our character and values and keeping our commitments in an oppressive communist regime.
Take a moment and reflect on the concept of values and resilience with these questions:
Do you connect with your spiritual faith every day? Meditation and reflection are considered a powerful tool by all religions.Do you keep your commitments? What do you do when you see that you cant keep them? Do you have a friend, cohort, or team, that can help and encourage you in keeping them?Do you have a set of standards to clarify your commitment to be an honorable person? Do you use them to coach yourself regularly to keep correcting back on course to live an honorable life?Commit to your faith and values as you grow as an honorable leader. Someone is always watching to see how you will live and leadwhat a great opportunity to influence and inspire others.

Leadership History Lesson for March 5th
On this day in leadership history in 1922, “Annie Oakley” (Phoebe Ann Moses) broke all existing records for women’s trap shooting. She hit 98 out of 100 targets.
Whats the leadership lesson? Honorable leaders know that natural talent and skill offer the greatest personal contribution to life and culture. Focus on your strengths while managing your struggles.
