We couldn���t let this day go by without recognizing National Vietnam Veterans Day. The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration honors all Veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time from November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location.

FAQ on Accountability in an Old Business Culture
Leading with Honor FAQ ��� ���We have had an old style ���nice��� culture for a long time and as we start implementing accountability for higher standards folks are balking and doing a lot of whining. How can we handle this?���
Lee���s Answer ��� ���I���ve seen this firsthand in several companies, so I know what you are talking about. First, you have to almost expect this since no one likes change���and especially when they feel it tightening down on their old ways and habits. It���s hard, and some people are just not able to make the change. I believe in giving people choices.
���If they can perform to reasonable standards and not complain, then they can stay���with the understanding that they will have to adapt to the changes in technology and processes that may come. If they want promotions and incentive pay raises, they must pick up the pace. Realistically, it takes about ten years to completely change the culture in an old line company, especially where they have been a protected monopoly like a utility company.���

5 Simple Ways to Stay Resilient Everyday
Regardless of the generation that you belong to, the research data shows that our psychological and cultural challenges are growing at an incremental rate���so much so that the word ���resilience��� is popping up more and more. But there���s hope too. Here are a few points that I���ve observed personally and with my fellow Vietnam POW brothers about resilience ���
Faith was crucial. When you lose control over your life and the enemy can torture you and even kill you, you must learn to look up and pray. Our spiritual faith gave us a hopeful reality that there was a bigger plan. We were committed to our mission. Our goal to resist, stay connected, and serve with honor was at the top of our list. Commitment is essential. Beyond your team or employer���s mission, make a conscious decision about your personal mission too. Our leaders set an amazing example of resilience. They were tortured and in isolation more than most of us and they always bounced back and stayed positive. They set the example, and we were inspired by their resilience and positive belief in our future. We stayed connected with others. To overcome isolation, we took great risks to communicate and stay connected to our teammates. Leaders should over-communicate to stay connected. We stayed positive. We believed that someday we would go home and that kept us from shutting down and giving up. Intentional positivity provides the fuel and energy needed to push through challenges.

Today is the 52nd anniversary of my homecoming from the Vietnam POW Camps. Every year is a reason to celebrate with my brothers and the overwhelming support that we received at home (and continue to receive today).
