MONDAY MEDITATION: The Leaven of the Pharisees

In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumberable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. ~Luke 12:1 (KJV)

Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. ~Matthew 16:12 (NIV)

Don't you know that a little yeast works through the whole...

One that I watch (at least most seasons) is The Bachelor/Bachelorette.

Here are a few things I've learned:

...That's NOT reality!

They may call it reality TV, but there's NOTHING realistic about the various scenarios presented in this show. A trip to a tropical location with three (supposedly) sensitive, handsome guys, complete with helicopter rides, yacht t...

MONDAY MEDITATION: Following Where He Leads

When I say to a wicked man, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin; but you will have saved yourself.

Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block...

MONDAY MEDITATION: Can You Handle the Truth?

"The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" ~Jeremiah 17:9 (NIV)

"You can't handle the truth!"

Jack Nicholson's character in the movie, A Few Good Men, gutturally screams the words under oath in a court of justice. The point he is trying to make (although for unjust reasons) is that people prefer to hear a lie that makes them feel safe and secure instead of the bold, naked, and sometimes even distasteful, truth.

Though tragic, there is a nugget of vali...
