Update On Book Orders From St. Helen's Book Shop
As you may know, we've had a long standing relationship with the good folks at Oregon's own St. Helen's Book Shop. As an affiliate to the site, we've sent traffic their way and in turn, they stood as the only book store in the country that had a direct partnership with Chuck Palahniuk, whereby he would come in and not only sign all of their stock, but also accept personal inscriptions on book orders made through the St. Helen's site.
Unfortunately, St. Helen's had to close up shop in early December, and so around that time they ran their last big promotion on Palahniuk titles (read Lori's letter about the closing on their front page). Many of you ordered books around this time, hoping to get them in time for Christmas. But recently, I've heard from a few customers who have still not received their inscribed book orders nor have been able to get in touch with the people running the site. I don't personally work for St. Helen's so I can only offer my regret at this matter. But in order to get some sort of status on the situation, I emailed Chuck today and quickly heard back with this update:
Lori, who ran the store, has had a terrible time getting certain books. The hardcover of Fight Club was going back to press around Christmas, and it's taken weeks to fill the back orders of book stores.
If people ask, Lori has promised to bring me the books next Tuesday. I'll spend a few days inscribing them, and they should ship out at the end of next week.
Lori and I are both sorry about this turn of events. The idea that these were most likely Christmas presents makes everything worse. Feel free to post the text of this letter. Lori's honorable, and I'll make sure everything works out.
So there you have it. Chuck is personally on the task. Be patient and you should have your book soon. Also, for those asking about who will fill the void now that St. Helen's is gone, I would recommend Powell's, AbeBooks and of course, eBay. These are all sites where you can find signed Chuck Palahniuk books. For personal inscriptions, you'll just have to see Chuck during his next tour!

Classic Chuck Palahniuk Interview Featured In Playboy's New 'Men Of Letters' Kindle Book
As part of the Playboy Interview's 50 year anniversary, they have released 13 compilation eBooks celebrating their best interviews over the years. For his 2009 interview, Chuck Palahniuk is featured in the 'Men of Letters' compilation.
Here's more on the eBook(s) from Amazon:
About the Series: In mid-1962, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner was given a partial transcript of an interview with Miles Davis. It covered jazz, of course, but it also included Davis’s ruminations on race, politics and culture. Fascinated, Hef sent the writer—future Pulitzer Prize–winning author Alex Haley, an unknown at the time—back to glean even more opinion and insight from Davis. The resulting exchange, published in the September 1962 issue, became the first official Playboy Interview and kicked off a remarkable run of public inquisition that continues today—and that has featured just about every cultural titan of the past half century.
To celebrate the interview’s 50th anniversary, the editors of Playboy have assembled 13 compilations of the magazine’s most (in)famous interviews—from big mouths and wild men to sports gods and literary mavericks. Here is our collection of 12 interviews with the most riveting writers.
The book is available starting today in an Amazon Kindle edition for only $4.99.

Slumber Party Event: Chuck Palahniuk, Chelsea Cain and Lidia Yuknavitch at The University of Oregon
Last month, Chuck Palahniuk, Lidia Yuknavitch and Chelsea Cain hosted a fun and unique event to promote Lidia's new book Dora. The event was a reading/signing and fans turned out in droves to watch three of their favorite authors, clad head to toe in pajamas, transform the night into their very own slumber party! This is an idea that Chuck has been telling me he was interested in doing for a while. In fact, he plans to have more events like these in the future, starting next month in Oregon!
Here's a note from Chuck about the next slumber party event:
On Nov. 2nd I'll be co-hosting a book event-slash-slumber party in Eugene, Oregon. My co-hosts are Lidia Yuknavitch and Chelsea Cain, and we'll be at WOW Hall near downtown. It will be a bigger, improved version of what we presented in Portland earlier this summer, with games, bedtime stories and prizes. The first fifty attendees in sleepwear get over-sized stuffed lions, tigers and bears. Alcohol will be served and inflatables will fly.
The tickets are five bucks -- to cover use of the hall, and the University Bookstore will sell books on site. I'll be meeting and signing books for the first couple hundred people -- mostly to keep the event moving and dynamic, not a long wait.
Tickets are still available through the link that Laura White cites, below. Thank you for passing this info along. Over the next few months we'll take these events to other cities, trying to iron out the wrinkles and keep the process fun for everyone.
Here's that link to order tickets! And here are the main details of the event:
Friday, November 2nd
WOW Hall - Eugene OR
7:00 p.m.
Tickets $5
Hurry though; at the time of this post, only 110 tickets are available, so this is going to sell out fast! read more »

Special Event: Chuck Palahniuk, Chelsea Cain and Lidia Yuknavitch at Broadway Books - SOLD OUT
Update: For pics and video from the event, go here!
Just got a scoop from Chuck on an upcoming event in Portland, OR:
On Sept. 13th I'll be helping to host a special event to launch Lidia's Yuknavitch's new book, "Dora." It will be at Broadway Books in Portland, a ticketed event limited to 100 people. Chelsea Cain is also hosting, and we'll be encouraging people to expect a storytelling evening, an adult version of the 'Harry Potter' late night launches. The first fifty people in sleepwear get prizes. There's booze. The stories will be very grown-up. This is a prototype event, an attempt to reconnect with the slumber party or campfire stories we loved as kids. Tickets are $20, but that inludes the book plus swag and wine. Games, prizes and stories. What can I say? It's a work-in-progress. If it works, next year's events will use the same model.

Chuck Palahniuk's Story, 'ROMANCE,' To Have Its World Film Premiere At The Raindance Film Festival
If you saw Chuck on tour recently, then you heard him read from one of his best short stories to date... 'Romance.' 'Romance' is a easily one of my favorite stories Chuck has ever written. I won't spoil the surprise of the story, but let's just say it's a true romantic comedy, in only the most twisted and fucked up way Chuck could tell it.
Last year, Andy Mingo, a filmmaker out of the Pacific Northwest who also happens to be Lidia Yuknavitch's husband, wrote and directed an adaptation of this wonderful story, and it's now set to have its world premiere in London at the 2012 Raindance Film Festival on October 2nd. If you plan on attending, not only will you see the film, but you'll get to see Chuck do a Q&A / reading and possibly qualify to be one of a dozen people who attend an intimate dinner with Chuck at a prestigious location in Leicester Square.
Read on for more!
Based on the story by Chuck Palahniuk that appeared in the 2011 issue of Playboy magazine, 'Romance' will do its world premiere at the 2012 Raindance Film Festival in London on October 2nd. This screening will be followed by a Q&A session and a reading of his choice by Chuck Palahniuk. The event will also be attended by the film’s director, Andy Mingo.
After the screening/reading join Chuck in an intimate dinner with a dozen other people at a prestigious location in Leicester Square.
Tickets to the dinner are available now on a silent auction basis through the IFT. The proceeds will be used to fund its work in bringing filmmaking skills to disadvantaged people.
