What Every Christian Needs to Know about Passover
Every year, my husband Patrick and I lead a Passover Seder with several friends. It’s been one of the highlights of our year, and we’ve so enjoyed walking through the ceremony. I’m so grateful to have my friend Rabbi Evan Moffic on the blog today to share a unique (and accurate) perspective on Passover. … […]

Empty heart
“I have tried in vain to fill my heart with so many things other than You. Forgive me, Jesus, for running to acclaim, wealth, relationships and stuff. Because nothing can fill the empty heart quite like Your steady love.”

The joy of the fruit
I read this quote today and knew it would inform my art. A few days ago I messed around in my strawberry beds, relocating plants and anticipating good fruit come late spring. Then the “icepocalypse” came to Dallas, freezifying the dormant plants. Thankfully I’ve been a gardener long enough to know resurrection will come. […]

Is Jesus Enough?
Today I’m asking myself the question, Is Jesus enough? His answer is yes. His love is the only thing that satisfies our broken, needy hearts. He is enough. I get in trouble when I start believing other things fill better: success, acclaim, perfect relationships (ha!), financial stability, the “right” body, etc. No. Jesus is enough.

Happy Habits – 44
This episode is about the habits you want to create in your life. As God mentioned to me, “You can’t control outcomes, but you can control faithfulness.” And that’s the basis for healthy and happy habits. Scripture: Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the […]

Rest
“Sometimes God calls His children to rest, be still, and let Him work.” A very imperfect piece from the girl who can’t seem to take her own advice…

My home
Today’s art is about one of the things I cherish most: our home. This is the longest place I’ve ever lived. When I pull up to it, I find myself smiling and full of joy. I painted this while all my kids and my hubby were away. The home is empty of them but full […]

At the cross.
Great worship song lyrics. I mistakingly wrote blood instead of love, but isn’t one an indication of the other? I am walking through a dark valley right now and would appreciate your prayers. But I am so grateful for Jesus who suffered, died and rose again. It reminds me that darkness is temporary, and new […]

I saw Jesus at church
He caught my eye in a flash, and then I couldn’t stop staring at the man at least a hundred feet away (we attend a large church). Bearded (which is normal these days) and alone, he stood when we stood, sat when we sat. I wondered. What if Jesus stopped into our churches, sat in […]

Sing away the dark
Today’s lent-art represents a real struggle to find joy when difficulties darken my perspective. It’s when I sing that the light gets a word in edgewise. (Aside: I see so many imperfections in my pieces. It’s hard to share them, as I realize my novice stature as an artist. But I’m learning imperfection is beautiful […]
