Summer Weekly Walking Tours

Beginning July 11, there will be a Monday Dorothy Parker Upper West Side Tour weekly at Noon. Starting on July 15 will be the 3:00 PM “Robert Benchley-Dorothy Parker Summer Friday” Algonquin Round Table Tour every Friday.

A Star Is Born with Gaga and Bradley Cooper in Works

Possibly the best movie-related news in the world of Dorothy Parker came down this week. According to the New York Daily News, Bradley Cooper is behind a remake of A Star Is Born, and his Vicki Lester will be Lady Gaga to his Norman Maine.

Toast To Dorothy June 7 on Anniversary

The forty-ninth anniversary of Dorothy Parker’s death is Tuesday, June 7. We will be marking the occasion in New York at the Blue Bar of the Algonquin Hotel, 59 W. 44th Street, from 5-7:00 p.m. If you can’t join us, a raise a glass or read a poem wherever you may. Cat Adoption Van Returning to Algonquin

Dorothy Parker loved animals, as all true fans know. So we always like to celebrate whenever the Algonquin Hotel brings out Matilda for any event, and Monday, May 16 is a good one. The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals will have a cat adoption truck parked in front of the hotel in honor of the occasion of Matilda getting a new Forty-fourth Street perch.

Pet Tree Houses has partnered with the hotel once again and built this custom book case for Matilda’s window to allow her to perch and watch...

Don Marquis Joins Dorothy Parker & Edna Ferber in NY Writers Hall of Fame

The New York State Writers Hall of Fame has added to its august body. The induction ceremony is next month at The Lambs, and more fantastic writers are joining the Hall of Fame. The honorees are chosen by the Empire State Center for the Book. Dorothy Parker was admitted in 2011 and Edna Ferber was named the following year. One of their friends, Don Marquis (1878–1937), is in the Class of 2016.

Dorothy Parker-Dawn Powell Walking Tour June 26

Celebrate two of New York’s greatest fiction writers on a walking tour to trace their footsteps in the neighborhoods they made famous: Dorothy Parker and Dawn Powell. See their homes and haunts on a walk that begins at the landmark Algonquin Hotel and ends in Greenwich Village. The tour starts at Noon on Sunday, June 26. Dorothy Parker Production in Brazil

The appeal of Dorothy Parker is universal, and a new production in Brazil based on her work has been put onstage. The Globe Theatre in São Paulo has “Just One More,” directed by Einat Falbel and Giseli Ramos.
