Hiking in Redwood National Park, November 2017.
One of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had is backcountry hiking in Redwood National Park. The picture explains why. Otherworldly.

Redwood National Park campsite
Anyone who reads this website, or my novels knows I’m a huge fan of the outdoors, especially camping. While hotels can be great, nothing is better than a remote campsite on public land. Usually, these sites have the best location, and are unburdened by crowds.
This particular site was in Redwood National Park. My girlfriend Rachel and I literally had the entire beach to ourselves. A perfect campsite nestled between the Pacific, and groves of ancient redwoods.
California never ceases to amaze me. And I live in Montana, so that’s saying something.
Campsite, with miles of empty beach in Redwood National Park.

Hiking *through* a tree in Redwood National Park.
I recently had an AMAZING trip along the California coast. It started out with business at the Beverly Hilton, then on to see a great friend in Santa Cruz, and finally the ridiculous Redwood National Park. In this video, my girlfriend Rachel and I are hiking in the backcountry of Redwood National Park.

Moose in Glacier National Park
I was lucky to encounter this cow and bull moose in the wilds of Glacier National Park. It’s not everyday you get to see mega fauna like this interacting.

Glacier National Park
I was lucky to camp in Glacier last week. The fall colors were tremendous, but 50 mph winds, and freezing temps chased me out. Still, it was good to be back.

“The Forest Service liked to keep the roadside trees tall, while logging the hell out of the forest beyond view of travelers”.

A creek in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness
I was very fortunate to spend last weekend with my father. We went out to eat a lot (lol) and spent time outdoors in our great national forests. This image was from the Bitterroot National Forest, a 1.587 million acre mountain paradise on the Montana/Idaho border.
