Thought for the Day

The Kickstarter's halfway through, so what are you going to do?

JABBERWACKY
‘Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.
“Now back the Kickstarter, my son! The wondrous books, the cards, the dice! Beware of missing out, and shun Mere trifles – don’t think twice!”
He took his credit card in hand: Long time the right reward he sought – So rested he, on Tweedledee, “An eBook’s fine,” he thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came!
“You want a hardback,” quoth the beast, “The art’s done by Kev Crossley. And while you’re there, I do declare, A signed one’s not too costly.”
One two! One two! And through and through The frantic mouse went click-‘n’-clack! He used his smarts – picked Queen of Hearts – And went galumphing back.
“And hast thou backed the Kickstarter? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!” He chortled in his joy.
‘Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble on the knoll. Now go pledge your support in droves, And help us reach our goal.
By Jonathan Green, after Lewis Carroll

Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland - halfway there!

The Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland Kickstarter has now been running for 15 days, meaning that there are only another 15 left to go, and as of writing this, we are around the 80% funded mark.

This is astonishing, and I want to thank everyone who has pledged their support so far and helped to spread the word far and wide around the Internet.

And if you haven't pledged yet, what are you waiting for? It's a gamebook, it's Steampunk, it's a book by Jonathan Green, and you could end up walking away with one of these amazing rewards!

JG at the LFCC

This weekend I am one of the guest authors who will be located in the Book Zone at the London Film and Comic Con. This year the event is taking place at Olympia, which means there will be a lot more space for all concerned, compared to last year.

I will be selling copies of SHARKPUNK , my history of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks YOU ARE THE HERO and my Pax Britannia books at a knock-down price. (I might even be persuaded to talk about my new Kickstarter.) So, if you're coming to the event, stop by my stand and say hello*.

I'm going to be there from:

1.00pm - 8.00pm on Friday 17th July 2015

9.00am - 6.00pm on Saturday 18th July 2015

9.00am - 6.00pm on Sunday 19th July 2015

* Or even bring me a hot chocolate! (No cream, thanks.) ;-)

Warhammer Wednesday: Mission Games Workshop - Derby and Warhammer World

Last weekend I was in Derby for Edge-Lit 4, so it seemed only sensible to pop into both the GW Derby store and the newly refurbished Warhammer World over at Games Workshop's Nottingham HQ.

I was made to feel very welcome at the Derby store where there was a great buzz around Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.

And then I got in the car and drove to Warhammer World, which was something else altogether...

Well I guess Games Workshop are committed to Age of Sigmar then.

Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland - Choose Your Own Avatar

The Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland Kickstarter has been running for 10 days now, meaning that it's a third of the way through its funding period, and yet it has already raised two thirds of its funding target.

In case you missed the news earlier, you can add Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland Kickstarter-themed dice and playing card sets to your pledge now.

You might also want to show your allegiance to the cause by choosing one of the following images to be your online avatar.

Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland - Dice and Playing Cards now available to backers!

One of the unusual things about the forthcoming Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland adventure gamebook is that it can be played using either dice or playing cards. I mean, it's Alice in Wonderland - how could I miss an opportunity like that?

Ever since I launched the Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland Kickstarter , a number of eager backers have asked if they will be able to purchase themed dice and cards as part of their pledge, and I'm very pleased to be able to announce that you can now do just that.

Each set will contain two dice and one pack of playing cards. As well as being able to use these whilst playing the gamebook, you will be able to use them just as you would any pack of playing cards - whether its poker with the lads, or whist with granny (or even the other way around).

Simply add £25 (or more) to your original pledge for every set you would like to purchase.

So, for example, if you are pledging in the UK to receive the RED QUEEN reward but you also want to buy two sets of dice and playing cards, you would pledge a total of £200 to the Kickstarter (£150 + £25 + £25).

Of course, you can purchase the KING OF HEARTS add-on without pledging to receive a copy of the  Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland  adventure gamebook at all, simply by selecting the KING OF HEARTS reward - but where would be the fun in that?

Thought for the Day

Author Philip Pullman on his imagined Coat of Arms:

"A bird of the raven family with a diamond in her beak. This is the storyteller: storytellers always steal their stories, every story has been told before."
