I Do
This will be the grandest wedding
A ray of hope for all who care
I, the dapper groom in tux
You, with flowers in your hair
Our families on either side
Now parted like the sea
Will come together in our wake
To celebrate, and be
Fire and ice
Air and water
Wayward son and favorite daughter
Hatfields and Capulets
Montagues and McCoys
This love affair started simply
Country girl meets lonely boy...
A ray of hope for all who care
I, the dapper groom in tux
You, with flowers in your hair
Our families on either side
Now parted like the sea
Will come together in our wake
To celebrate, and be
Fire and ice
Air and water
Wayward son and favorite daughter

Montagues and McCoys
This love affair started simply
Country girl meets lonely boy...

Superlove
Two lost and lonely children
Meet at the playground
Taking turns
Pushing each other
To greatness
Want to see me fly?
He asks
Only if you hold me
Is her reply
Meet at the playground
Taking turns
Pushing each other
To greatness
Want to see me fly?
He asks
Only if you hold me
Is her reply

Foundation
Princess in a hardhat
The fifty foot woman
Towering over non-existent competition
Buildings tremble
The Fred Hartman Bridge quivers
Before her heart
The size of a Sherman tank

Deathbed Memories
Jay Miner had Mitchie
And Ritchie Rich had Dollar
But I am your Dummy
Who loves you forever
And I'm still alive
You're right here at my side
And I am blind
A lonely and sad old man
Clinging to his memories
Still working on his story
Searching for the words
That lead to happy endings
I cry pardon, gunslinger
But I do bite my thumb
I remember the face of my father
Both of them
Do they remember me?
And Ritchie Rich had Dollar
But I am your Dummy
Who loves you forever
And I'm still alive
You're right here at my side
And I am blind
A lonely and sad old man
Clinging to his memories
Still working on his story
Searching for the words

I cry pardon, gunslinger
But I do bite my thumb
I remember the face of my father
Both of them
Do they remember me?

Unbreakable Bond
You are my guiding light
My star
No wise man, I
But a simple fool
Savannah slipped through my fingers
Bubblegum lost her flavor
Regina drowned
Janique has Chris
Roland let Jake fall
But I will never let you go
No matter how hard they try
I will never surrender
No matter how much the world
Wants me to suffer
I only want you
And I can endure any hardship
Suffer any fate
Secure in the knowledge
That the girl of my dreams
Is my only reality...

Blue Cheer
I love you, my Johnnie
By day and by night
I reach out to meet you
With all of my might
So dream not of worries
Of sorrows
Of cares
But rainbows
And sunshine
And meeting me there
By day and by night
I reach out to meet you
With all of my might
So dream not of worries
Of sorrows
Of cares
But rainbows
And sunshine
And meeting me there

Perfect Dark
Poetry can be quite dark
Even about love
Upon their backs, I leave our mark
And rain down from above
Of tenderness, they've never heard
Or even spoke a word
But if they ever fuck with us
I make them bite the curb
Absolute zero holds my heart
Until it can be thawed
And yours remains beside me
All others eaten raw
Every day I have to kill
Every fucking world
To fight my way back to you
My ever-perfect girl
Even about love
Upon their backs, I leave our mark
And rain down from above
Of tenderness, they've never heard
Or even spoke a word
But if they ever fuck with us
I make them bite the curb
Absolute zero holds my heart
Until it can be thawed
And yours remains beside me
All others eaten raw
Every day I have to kill
Every fucking world
To fight my way back to you
My ever-perfect girl

The Storyteller and the Listener: A Marriage Made In Heaven
I was enchanted
The only explanation I can offer
As to why we were apart for so long
I thought I couldn't have you
So I buried your memory so deep
At the bottom of the ocean
So I could have some peace
And not be haunted
But in fairy tales
The endings are always happy
Clive Barker once told me
That all great stories are about one
Then two
And then three
Then two
And are about one again
I beg to differ
Someone else said that to write a great story
Give your hero a goal
And then place many obstacles in his way
Which is fine in most cases
Except
When the hero decides to skip to the good parts
The only explanation I can offer
As to why we were apart for so long
I thought I couldn't have you
So I buried your memory so deep
At the bottom of the ocean
So I could have some peace
And not be haunted
But in fairy tales

Return Ticket
(written on a receipt from jail)
What could be more authentic
Than a poem written on this
See? I really did go to Mars
My intentions laid bare
Ten pens - stolen
Thrown in a cell with nothing
Except your memory
"Come on, ice cream!"
Part of a joke my uncle once told
So I ordered some
And macaroni, another time
For my mom
Crackers and peanut butter for grandpa
Skittles, a Butterfinger
And my life for you
My muse
I love you...
Forever
