A Very Snarky Post About Dieting
WARNING: If you are going to tell me about your latest diet and how I should be following your rice-free goat cheese-enhances food plan just stop your skinny rear end right here. I mean it. You will be in the same category as people who tell me that I should throw out my TV or that I'm harming my kids (who BTW are all over 18) by letting them read non-Christian fiction. I haven't had a decent treat in three days and I'm in no mood for such silliness. You have been warned.
I got myself back to ...

Author Feature and Book Giveaway – Susy Flory So Long Status Quo
I love behind the scenes stuff in people's lives (some people would call me nosy, but since I'm a writer, so it's research…) So I have asked some of my favorite authors to tell me some of that behind the curtain stuff. Plus, being extra pushy, asked them to give away my favorite one of their books to one of my readers.
I start off the series with Susy Flory.
Kathi: When and why did you begin writing?
Susy: I always wanted to be a writer but because books and words were so important to me, I...

You Say it's Your Birthday (um. whoops) Ideas for last minute gifts – the far away edition
Monday was my agent Rachelle's birthday. Normally, I don't send a lot of gifts to people I work with (ask my husband's side of the family, I'm not so great at keeping up with people I'm related to…) but we have been working together a lot this year and some cool things have been in the works, and well, it just seemed like the right things to do.
I've had it on my calendar for a year now. You would think I would have done something about it. But no…. I have to wait until the last minute to...

Writerly Wednesday: Getting THE Call
I love the behind the scenes stuff – don't you?
Here is a fun and behind the scenes article about how one of my new BFFs, Erin MacPherson, got the call about having her book, The Christian Mama's Guide to Having a Baby, published.
Erin and I are working on some projects together, so as you get to know her, I know you will love her as much as I already do.
Plus, she has a ton of FAB recipes on her blog so I KNOW my bloggy friends will love her.

How to Get Out of a Slump Part 2: Change Things Up
It was just a few short years ago that Roger and I were shopping at Ikea for bunk beds so that all our kids had a place to, well, sleep.
Now that 2/3s of the chickees have flown the coop, (one moved out the day I married Roger – nothing personal – Amamda at 18 didn't want to share a room with a 13 year-old,) Roger and I were back at Ikea with all the other parents who have shipped kids off to college, this time to buy a futon.
You see, Roger has his own room now. (Don't worry, our marriage i...

How to Keep the Peace when Your Life (or maybe just your car) is in Pieces
Yes. Those are the words that every mother longs to hear.
One of my kids, (who has asked to remain nameless,) had a little accident.
OK it was more than a little accident. I mean, just look that that license plate.
Thankfully, no one was hurt. No one, except for my car. (BTW, I have to give it up for my 11 year old Toyota Sienna. It has had rocks reign down on it, a tree fall on it, and taught teens to drive. That is the Energizer Bunny of Automobiles.)
All this occurred...

Don't Read this Post if You're Trying to Lose Weight
Because if your trying to lose weight, you don't need to know that you can make a chocolate cake in about the same time as a commercial break. ("You see kids, when I was growing up, you had six whole minutes right in the middle of TV shows where they showed commercials." "No, you couldn't fast-forward through them because THERE WAS NO TIVO.")
With ingredients you probably already have.
It's a dangerous thing.
But I, your fearless blogger, took a bullet for you and made this for all the boys at t...
