Dear Bloggie Friends – and There's a Party Goin' On Right Here
Hey friends-
As many of you know (because part of my responsibility has beet to talk about it,) I am being featured on Focus on the Family Wednesday morning on their radio broadcast. This was taped about two weeks ago and will be heard in a LOT of places on Wednesday morning. We are talking about THE HUSBAND PROJECT. It's a light hearted interview and was a lot of fun.
This morning, I will be flying to Colorado to work with the team at Your Family Live (the TV/Webinar part of Focus on the Family)for their broadcast on Wednesday where I will be the main guest (they have a couple other people coming in on Skype.) During and right after the broadcast, Focus will be having its first ever Twitter Party featuring me, my book and a ton of giveaways. Focus is teaming up with my publisher Harvest House, and MOPS International. (MOPS is using this to promote their convention where I'll be speaking with (gulp) Max Lucado.)
So at this point, you are probably saying, "Um, Kathi… Awesome. But why are you telling me?" (I'm sure the guys that I sent this to are especially scratching their heads…)
I would really, really love your help in one or two of the following ways. Because I want the Twitter Party to be a success for both MOPS and Focus, and I want the broadcast to do its part in encouraging women to encourage their men!
1. You could join the twitter party: If you follow www.Twitter.com/YourFamilyLive on twitter, you will find out all the details. Don't have a twitter account? Don't worry. You can sign up for one and then never use it after Wednesday (that's what Roger did when he signed up for one!)
2. You can listen or watch on Wednesday: for the radio program(10 AM CA time) http://www.focusonthefamily.com/radio... for the webcast (11AM CA time) http://www.focusonlinecommunities.com...
3. If you are one of my web savvy friends, you could let other people know about the party. Here is a little script you can post, email, carrier pigeon:
Your Family Live is also having their very first Twitter Party with Kathi! Prizes include Kathi's book, The Husband Project, "My Husband's A Hottie" T-Shirts, Focus on the Family's Essentials of Parenting DVDs and several resources from MOPS, including ten free Storyboard Tickets and two free Registrations to the MOPS 2011 Convention in Nashville, TN on August 4-6th! Make sure you "follow" Your Family Live by going to www.Twitter.com/YourFamilyLive, and then respond to the tweets on the day of the show for your opportunity to win! You can find out more by going to the Your Family Live Facebook page!
4. Finally, if you have no interest in getting a Twitter account, and have a full time job and can't randomly take off to listen to me on the radio, perhaps you should consider changing jobs…
Actually, I am writing because I believe that God is going to do something powerful with the listeners on Wednesday. I know there are a TON of men who have no soft place to land in their lives. I want women to be called to a higher standard in their marriages, but I know that a lot of them are hurting as well. My prayer is that women will join together to not only pray for their marriage, but take daily action steps to improve their marriage.
Thanks to each of you. I am blessed.

A PG-13 Interview with Author Marla Taviano
Here is my interview with Marla, author of the brand new e-book The Husband's Guide to Getting Lucky. Read this fun interview, and then find out how two of you will win Marla's fun and fab books!
Kathi: Goodness, girl. You're a brave little thing for tackling a book about sex. For GUYS. How on earth did this come about?
Marla: That, my friend, is a great question. And honestly? I swore this is the one book I'd never write. I write for women. Why? 1.) because I am one and 2.) guys don't read books.
Oh, I've gotten e-mails from guys who swiped their wives' copies of Is That All He Thinks About? and then asked when I was going to write one for them, but I always just laughed it off. And then I got 3 e-mails from 3 guys in 3 days all asking the same question. I took it as a sign and started writing. And the rest is you know…
Kathi: You know I love your writing style, girl. Will this book be written in the same "voice" as your others, or did you have to make some changes now that you're writing for guys?
Marla: I know why you like my style–because it reminds you of your own! Actually, I didn't change much at all. I added a "dude" at the end of a few sentences and called it a day. I'm not really a very girly writer, and quite a few guys actually read my blog (and enjoy it apparently), so I'm
sticking with what works for me.
Kathi: Like you said, guys don't read as much as women do. How are you going to convince them to read this book?
Marla: The irresistible title and the killer comic book cover. 'Nuff said.
Kathi: On a more serious note, do you think wives are going to feel comfortable with their husbands reading a book about sex written by a woman?
Marla: Sure. We women read books about sex written by guys. It's no biggie. I'm pretty certain that a lot of wives are going to be reading this book (and buying it for their husbands), so I made sure it was something they'd be cool with. And there are several points in the book where I say, "Hey, you know what? We'll touch on this briefly here, but I'd really rather you and your wife sit down and have this particular discussion." I've prayed over this book more than any other I've written, and I'm confident that I wrote the words I needed to write.
Kathi: Give me two good reasons a wife should buy this book for her husband for Father's Day.
Marla: 1.) $4.99 is an amazing bargain for a sweeter, kinder husband who's more in tune with your emotional needs and 2.) He really doesn't need another tool for his box or set of logo golf balls, does he? Don't you want to get him what he reeeeally wants? I mean, let's be real here. What husband doesn't want to get lucky for Father's Day?
Kathi: Thanks for hanging out here on the blog, friend. It's been a treat.
Marla: The pleasure is all mine, girl. Can't wait to finally meet you in person one of these days! A million blessings on all 12 of your books releasing in the next year!
I want you to have the chance to win The Husband's Guide to Getting Lucky so leave a comment about what totally husband-centric thing you are going to do for your man this Father's Day and I will enter you into a drawing to win either a $5 Gift Card to Amazon (so you can download your own copy,) or a copy of the great book Is That All He Thinks About ? You have to tell me by Friday evening at 8 California time to be entered into the drawing.
But my suggestion? Go ahead and get the book and just tell him in a card with a big red bow. Later on that night, just wear the bow.
Happy Father's Day to you both.

Your Prayers Worked (I didn't say anything inappropriate on Focus on the Family)
and let me tell you, there is always that possibility….
Thanks to each and every one of you that prayed for my time with MOPS and Focus on the Family last week. So many of you have asked, "So… how did it go?" and I have been so exhausted since doing it that I'm now sitting down to get all my thoughts on blog.
1. MOPS was awesome. I have always loved that organization, but now meeting the people behind the scenes? I love them that much more. If you are not a part of MOPS and you have preschoolers, well you should be. If you are a part of MOPS and aren't going to their national convention in August, please come. Bribe your husband with lingerie so he'll watch the kids and come – it is going to be amazing…
1. A Dry Run is a Good Thing. I met with the web/TV producer Tuesday night (my radio interview was on Wednesday,) and had a great time getting to know her. Then she asked me, "Would you like to go over to the Focus radio studio to see where they will be interviewing you." Um… Yeah… So Danielle took us over there and she did a practice run with me…
And then (because we are total nerds..) Roger and I did a dry run as well:
I know. Nerd Alert.
Finally, the big day (after almost no sleep) arrived, and it was amazing. I will have pictures from that day, but the interview went really well, we had a great time, and I didn't say one totally inappropriate thing.
Finally, we got to meet up with our friends Steve and Shannon, (Steve works at FOTF). After being so nervous, I needed something to calm my nerves. No! Not alcohol, (please, this is Focus on the Family we are talking about!) But this is Zoe, Steve and Shannon's new puppy. Zoe is your reward for praying for me. Zoe did the trick.

Prayer – Anyone? Anyone?
I'm sitting in a hotel in Colorado Springs and just can't get to sleep. It's been a great day with a visit to MOPS headquarters getting to present to many people on their staff. We had fun with THE ME PROJECT, and I had a chance to meet one on one with several of their key leadership. Had lunch at a great BBQ place (Brothers, if you are ever in the Denver area. Roger is a rock star when it comes to sniffing out the best dives.) Thanks to those of you who were praying for my time there.
Wednesday, I have a radio interview with Focus on the Family.
As you can imagine, I'm a wee bit nervous.
I will be sharing about THE HUSBAND PROJECT (to be broadcast at a later date.) I would love your prayers that I communicate clearly, would be able to sleep tonight, and would be an encouragement to those who are wanting more for their marriages.
Thanks friends. I'll let you know how it goes.

Everyone Has a Horse
So many of you read my books or this blog because you love story. Tell me what I should (don't you hate that work, should?) do, and I rebel. Tell me a story, and change my life.
Someone I work with and admire, Julie, sent out this trailer and everyone I've shared it with is amazed. How can two minutes be so much. Because we all have a horse God has put in our lives to learn from. Perhaps your horse is a teenage son, or a boss who beats you down. Maybe it's your husband who has had a midlife meltdown, or an aging parent who is making you crazy.
We all have a horse to learn from.

Day #5 of the 5 Day Flirting Challenge: Wear Something Cute to Bed
If he has ever played a sport in it.
If you have ever worn it to drop your kids off in the morning.
If it has any holes that are not strategically placed by a clothing designer.
These are all examples of things you should not wear to bed tonight.
I'm not saying it has to be thigh-high stockings and a leather bustiers. (Who sleeps like that, anyway?) But, I do want you to step it up a notch from your normal pajama pants and high school PE t-shirt.
Tell me that you did it (no, I don't need the gritty details,) and I will pick one winner to receive a yummy smelling candle for the next time your forgo the sweatpants.

Day #4 of The 5 Day Flirting Challenge – A Treat Just for Him
There have been a lot of men this week blushing at work.
Good work girls.
Today, I want you to plan a treat just for him. When Roger and I were dating, we would each grab a little personal sized Ben and Jerry's and eat it in front a romantic movie.
However, ever since we got married, all of our ice cream tastes have been merged into one cheap half gallon of neapolitan.
Tonight, I'm going to buy Roger a pint all to himself. One that he doesn't have to share with me, the kids, or the dog.
If you didn't get the note on Tuesday to go get him something, or bake him something, or take him somewhere, you just have to tell me when you are going to give him a treat, and what it will be.
I will pick a winner to receive a $5 gift card to Starbucks so you can treat him one more time.

Day #3 of The 5 Day Flirting Challenge
You are all so much fun. I love to hear what you are saying, writing and posting about your men!
Day #3 is pretty simple:
Text or Email something fun or flirty to him today (bonus point if he gets it in the middle of his work day.)
All you have to do is let me know that you sent it (or tell me when you are going to send it) and you will be entered into the drawing for THE MARRIAGE PROJECT.
I have loved this week – y'all have blessed me so much – you are a fun group. We should hang.
