Marriage Quotes

Strike an average between what a woman thinks of her husband a month before she marries him and what she thinks of him a year afterward, and you will have the truth about him.  ~H.L. Mencken, A Book of Burlesques, 1916

The bonds of matrimony are like any other bonds - they mature slowly.  ~Peter De Vries

To keep the fire burning brightly there's one easy rule:  Keep the two logs together, near enough to keep each other warm and far enough apart - about a finger's breadth - for breathing room.  Good fire, good marriage, same rule.  ~Marnie Reed Crowell

Sometimes I wonder if men and women really suit each other.  Perhaps they should live next door and just visit now and then.  ~Katherine Hepburn

Never go to bed mad.  Stay up and fight.  ~Phyllis Diller, Phyllis Diller's Housekeeping Hints, 1966

Marriage means commitment.  Of course, so does insanity.  ~Author Unknown

Like good wine, marriage gets better with age - once you learn to keep a cork in it.  ~Gene Perret

My wife says I never listen to her.  At least I think that's what she said.  ~Author Unknown

The Writing Space

So, here I am in my nice new house with my own office for "me" to make into my writing space, and I can't get comfortable in it.

How in the heck does that work??

Maybe it's just me, after all I'm not used to having my own area. I'm used to being in the middle of things, in the living room or at the kitchen table with my net book, and now, I'm not.

Think I'm lonely?? Don't know how that could be, the dog sits behind me in my chair, I have to kick the teenager off his games, and while I'm open to the rest of the house, I'm just not directly in the midst of everything anymore. Hmmmmm.

Maybe it's because I have a smaller desk and I haven't really unpacked ;-p  hmmmm, could be. My awesome other half of a man did hang my curtains and drapes for me though :-) (Sexy watching ;-) which makes it look and feel a whole lot cozier. Yeah, Yeah, hey give me a paint brush and I'll paint a room any day, give me curtain rods and they end up flying across the room at wrap speed, LOL.

I've looked online for ideas on how to decorate, but nothing has really popped out at me. :-(

I think I'll just have to go buy myself a nice big L-shaped desk and some better storage cabinets and go from there.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday!! Read lots!!!!

Valentine's Quotes

Oh, if it be to choose and call thee mine, love, thou art every day my Valentine!  ~Thomas Hood

Many are the starrs I see, but in my eye no starr like thee.  ~English saying used on poesy rings

Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love.  ~Albert Einstein

I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day.  When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon.  ~Author Unknown

I Hope everyone has a loving, safe and happy Valentine's!!

My Space -- NEW My Space WHAT??

Ok, So I went to delete my My Space account, because well you know, it's dead, and the minute I log in it transfers me over to this "NEW" My Space and click the button to join and -- blah, blah, blah.

So I did, thinking, OK, maybe they've revived it somehow. I HATE it!! I've given it a shot for three weeks, and maybe because it's me (which it could be because I am not internet crap savvy), but I just can't seem to get the hang of the stupid thing! OK, I uploaded my profile photo, but how in the hell do I put other photo's up?? I see you can, but I can't figure it out.

I don't think it's made for ease of use, and the search area to 'search' for other people. Really, by age?? And it seems to only pull up people in your living area. Again, maybe I'm doing it wrong, but seriously, I'm not a fan.

AND -- it's soooooooo geared toward music. That's fine if you're a music buff, and hey I like my music, but I'm not fanatic over it.

It resembles a dating site to me, more so than the other social medias out there. It's like they tried to do a cross between Face Book, Twitter, Match Date . Com,  and some music guru land out there, and I'm just not clicking with it.

SO I'll try again today, but I'm not promising anything! I have a lot to accomplish today and not a lot of time to spend trying to figure stupid crap out.

I know it gives the option to go back to 'classic' My Space, but again, I went there to DELETE it in the first place.

Hmmmmm, Options to think about.

Any Hoo, have a great day and read lots!!!!

Quotes on Age

The aging process has you firmly in its grasp if you never get the urge to throw a snowball.  ~Doug Larson

Age is a question of mind over matter.  If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.  ~Leroy "Satchel" Paige

Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years.  We grow old by deserting our ideals.  Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.  ~Samuel Ullman

Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.  ~Chili Davis

Early Spring Predicted & Super Bowl Sunday!!

That's right, Old Punxsutawney Phil has declared it's going to be an early Spring this year. Let's hope it's not a 'mistake' like last year, especially for all my family and friends up North.

Florida's  been in a bit of a cold spell, (I'm sorry hold on while I laugh) LOL. It has been a bit chilly, you know needing to toss on a sweater, but nothing like the cold snaps of the North. Although cold doesn't usually last that long in Florida, it is Winter here when we go from 80 one day to 60 the next. :-)

All I'm asking for is a nice Spring Florida day for my Spring wedding. ;-)

So to see the full Associated Press Story for Phil's Prediction you can follow this link ... LINK

Have a great day, stay warm, stay safe and for those of you who enjoy football ... have an AWESOME Super Bowl Sunday!!
Me, I just watch the commercials ;-) I love the Budweiser Clydesdales!!

Wedded Bliss...Coming Soon

You know as soon as I wrote the post title, I hit the back button, erasing it saying 'that sounds too much like a book.'
And then I put it back :-)
Because it is a good title for a book, so ahhh what the heck right! LOL.

But it's really for "the only 6 more Sundays" I have until I walk down the aisle, or in my case a beautiful pathway in the woods.
Last minute details are getting done, the wedding planner is on top of everything and we go for our engagement photo shoot today. Woooooo right. Hahahahaha.

It's nothing but a planned chaos around here with the day job, homeschooling, writing and wedding planning. But Aaahhhhh, gotta love it!! And I do!!!!!!!  :-)

So those two Ellora's Cave Books I downloaded onto my Nook will have to wait a few more days or weeks, until I have a chance to crack them open!!

The third book in my Other Kin Series is going well, it's all been plotted out and hopefully tonight after we get back and my day off tomorrow I'll be working on the little baby to get her rolling real well and finished quick, so I can get the fourth book that's been itching at me out of my head LOL.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday and a safe and happy Martin Luther King Day.

Happy reading!!!!!

Censorship Quotes - Freedom of Speech

I am thankful for all the complaining I hear about our government because it means we have freedom of speech.  ~Nancie J. Carmody

Books won't stay banned.  They won't burn.  Ideas won't go to jail.  In the long run of history, the censor and the inquisitor have always lost.  The only weapon against bad ideas is better ideas.  ~Alfred Whitney Griswold, New York Times, 24 February 1959

Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one.  ~Abbott Joseph Liebling, "Do You Belong in Journalism?" New Yorker, 4 May 1960

A free press can be good or bad, but, most certainly, without freedom a press will never be anything but bad.  ~Albert Camus

To reject the word is to reject the human search.  ~Max Lerner, 1953, on book purging

Nature knows no indecencies; man invents them.  ~Mark Twain, Notebook, 1935

What progress we are making.  In the Middle Ages they would have burned me.  Now they are content with burning my books.  ~Sigmund Freud, 1933

Wherever they burn books they will also, in the end, burn human beings.  ~Heinrich Heine, Almansor, 1823
