Julius Malema pictures himself as "St. Sebastian" the Martyr
Cartoon portrays Julius Malema using the martyrdom argument in his defence in front of the ANC Disciplinary Committee similar to Jacob Zuma's position between 2005 and 2008.
Cartoon based on the early Roman christian martyr, Saint Sebastian. Saint Sebastian was killed during the Roman emperor Diocletian's persecution of Christians. In most paintings of the incident, he is tied to a post and shot with arrows.

Freedom of speech under siege?
Both the rushing through of the 'info bill' without a public interest clause and the judgment that bans "Shoot the boer" limits freedom of speech.

In South Africa, hate speech (along with incitement to violence and propaganda for war) is specifically excluded from protection of free speech in the Constitution. The Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act, 2000 contains the following clause: No person may publish, propagate, advocate or communicate words based on one or more of the prohibited grounds, against any person, that could reasonably be construed to demonstrate a clear intention to be hurtful; be harmful or to incite harm; promote or propagate hatred. The "prohibited grounds" include race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language and birth. The crime of crimen injuria ("unlawfully, intentionally and seriously impairing the dignity of another") may also be used to prosecute hate speech. Cartoons The Times Year-2011 Year-2011-09

Start of the Rugby World Cup 2011
Crouch! Touch! Pause! Engage! - In 2007 the scrum law was amended to the current four step, "crouch", "touch", " pause", "engage" process. Prior to this there was no obligation for each prop to touch the opposing props shoulder and the distance between the two front rows was often larger. The new rule fixed the distance between the front rows and as a result cut the force of impact from the engagement. The idea of the cartoon is that we should all engage in all 48 games.
