Errata

I created a new page, titled Errata.

My book has a few errors, but I can’t afford an editor. I have decided to put corrections on this page. Some things are not mistakes. For example, the use of British spelling is deliberate, not in error. And I spell “magick” with a “k” for reasons that are revealed in the story. The mistakes that have been discovered are corrected below.

I wrote this in Google Docs and exported it to MS Word; however, the formatting was messed up in the transition and caused line breaks where I didn’t want them and took out breaks that I did want. I’ve worked on correcting those errors, but some remain. Going forward, I’ll write everything in MS Word and save myself a lot of headaches. I also have ProWritingAid now so there will be fewer issues in the next book in the series.

FB, Mailchimp, and other headaches

On my page, Facebook kept prompting me to "boost this post", so I decided to try it to see what would happen. At first, nothing happened, because Facebook doesn't make anything easy and enjoys punishing you for trying. I went around in circles, trying to figure out the problem because Facebook won't just tell you what the issue is. I finally sorted it out and got the ads going, but Facebook would only promote certain posts, which of course, weren't the ones I wanted to promote. I suspect that Facebook secretly (or maybe not so secretly) hates people.

I also suspect that Mailchimp hates people. Well, Mailchimp, the feeling is now mutual. I won't even get into the headaches Mailchimp has given me--all whilst dealing with health problems, of course.

At least my health issues are improving!

And I have a book signing tomorrow, 3 August 2022, 6:30 p.m. at The Center in Milan, Michigan.

Formatting Improvements

My novel contains some formatting errors, especially the print versions. I'm working with someone who is fixing the errors and the new editions will be beautiful! Of course, this is costing me more so I'll have to raise prices. It will be worth it, though. And, who knows, my flawed first editions might be worth more some day because they'll be rare.

Interesting Reddit Thread

My daughter sent me a link to an interesting thread on Reddit. I've talked to younger people (meaning those under 40) and they seem to prefer books with changing view points. An 18 year old I talked to says she gets bored with books that are the same point of view all the way through. I don't know that it's solely a generation thing, though. I like books that switch it up, too. It's also more interesting to write books with multiple view points. It isn't easier to write that way, but it is more interesting.
