Hello, I'm David, and I’d like to tell you some stories.
I have always loved reading, mostly fiction. It is the richness added to plain vanilla facts that makes the story so enjoyable; imagination that paints a picture in vibrant color. I always wished I could write a story like that, but never dared. But why not?
There are literally MILLIONS of books a reader might choose from, and surely my own is hardly noticeable in that ocean! But here's the thing. Or two.
First. When I picked up my pen to write, I couldn't put it down. Impossible! I was compelled to tell stories. The characters and plots were leaping out of me like runners at the starting pistol. It was as if I was compelled to write, to tell stories that were born from a heart where God Hello, I'm David, and I’d like to tell you some stories.

It was as if I was compelled to write, to tell stories that were born from a heart where God lived, an imagination brought to life by His Spirit, and the experiences of a lifetime spent under His watchful care.
Second, we all want to change the world, don't we? The years I was hammering away at the square pegs in round holes that I thought was working out my dreams had been unfulfilling. So, I resigned myself to just being busy about the good, common labor we all do every day. No shame in that.
But as time went by, something solid started taking form from out of the fog. Could I tell a story that would reflect a little of the light of the Gospel Story I loved so much? And, do it in a way that might reach someone who needs that story, but thinks maybe the Bible or “religion” is irrelevant today?
I wrote…
In all of my books, I picture people who have lived with quiet desperation. Loneliness, hopelessness, crises, and dreary gray as the dark strokes of their nighttime existences.
But then God steps in. He rescues them! As black as the night had been, their lives become lit with overwhelming light! Together they now face challenges with the hope of victory!
And HOPE is ALWAYS relevant! In Bible days, and now! Sometimes we take it for granted, but it is always nearby; so when enemies appear or the fiery desert sun burns above, it is an unassailable fortress to shelter us from all danger, if we run to it for refuge.
That hope… that fortress is Christ. He is God, and as the characters of the books explore who He is, they learn some interesting things about Him. Things no one had ever told them about Him; things no one had discussed, but things that revealed who He really is—His character, His deep love; and His plan to rescue us! And His union with us as His brothers, suffering both with us, and for us!
Can one man change the world? YES! Like Abraham Lincoln or Mother Theresa. Or the characters in these books. Or…Jesus.
But there's another question. Can I change the world? Can you?
We can! We are made of the same stuff as heroes, aren't we? But that truth is packed in our suitcase of self-doubt, mixed motives and gray mediocrity.
The hour has come. We must make the most of our time, for the days are evil. And short. Maybe there are only seconds left on the Cosmic Clock. Can we somehow reach out to the lost and hurting world with HOPE? HOPE that will rescue them?
There really are a lot of hurting people out there who need that rescue! Maybe we live our lives as if our happy, safe existence was all there was. Not so true. There are millions coming to the torch-light of Liberty standing in the New York harbor, to escape poverty, crime and hopelessness. There are criminal cartels that are subjecting millions around the world to imprisoning drug addictions, sex trade slavery, and other cruel dependencies. There is hunger that drives children to find their meals in garbage dumps. There is homelessness. There is violence and bloodshed. There is corruption. There is darkness.
Maybe there’s someone with a dark past. Maybe someone who has endured a tragedy. Maybe there’s a neighbor struggling. Maybe she’s plodding through a mere existence, trying to keep her and her children afloat. Looking for help and hope. Maybe a prisoner without a chance. Maybe there’s a desperate divorcee ...more
