Cheryl Renee Herbsman’s Character Debut Party

Cheryl Renee Herbsman - BreathingI haven’t read BREATHING yet, but I’m really excited for Cheryl’s debut. For one, I *love* books set on the beach in the summer. There’s something about the ocean that gets me every time! Bare feet, sun-warmed days, cool evenings, beautiful starry nights, summer love… *sigh!* I also love the Carolinas–such a beautiful area of the country and the perfect setting for a summer story.

About BREATHING

What if the guy who took your breath away was the only one who could help you breathe?

Spring in Buffalo: Not an Oxymoron!

It’s finally spring in Buffalo, as evidenced by the daffodils lined up outside our porch and the mass exodus of former shut-ins pouring out of their houses for the first time since Halloween, all chanting the same thing:

“The sun! The sun!”

It’s been in the high 60s and 70s for almost a month, and recently my husband Alex has taken to motivating us (read: standing at the end of the bed and pulling on my feet, bribing me with coffee and sweet-talk, and generally cajoling me in the nicest way as he

fLiP iT fRiDaY: Jordyn @ Ten Cent Notes

Welcome to our first ever fLiP iT fRiDaY post! How very inaugural-ish!

Today on fLiP iT fRiDaY, we’re chatting with Jordyn from Ten Cent Notes, aka girljordyn on Twitter.

Jordyn @ Ten Cent Notes

Describe a typical day in your life.

A typical day? Okay. I’ll describe a Tuesday because for some reason I think of Tuesdays as the MOST typical days. Tuesday: wake up early (which I hate), head to school for a morning Geography class that starts at eight o’clock. I hate that class. My “lunch” is at nine-thirty in the morning, s

Cindy Pon’s Character Debut Party

Cindy Pon's Silver PhoenixI’m so excited to promote Cindy’s debut novel, SILVER PHOENIX. First of all, Cindy is a fellow Word Ninja, and the first ninja author to be featured here. And, I scored an ARC a while back on one of my secret Strand missions with Sharon and it’s been sitting tantalizingly atop my TBR pile ever since! Welcome, Cindy!

About SILVER PHOENIX

Word Ninjas, Ink. (aka Sekrit Project #4)

The Word NinjasTime to share the news about formerly sekrit project #4… The Word Ninjas!

WORD NINJAS, INK. is a collective of young adult authors and book bloggers stealthily working together to spread the word on the street about upcoming YA book releases. And now we’re officially live!

*Throws ninja star confetti*

Wait… what? Oh. Um, oops.

*Hopes no one got hit in the eye with ninja star confetti*

I guess I was a little overzealous today at the ninja store. I totally get that from Mom. Give us a theme, and we jus

Deva Fagan’s Character Debut Party

Deva Fagan - Fortune's FollyWelcome Deva Fagan! Thanks to my own good fortune :-) I read an ARC of FORTUNE’S FOLLY a few months ago. My favorite thing about this book (other than Fortunata, the resourceful young heroine) is that it’s a fairy tale in the old sense of the word, with magic and princes and castles and secret forests, and I couldn’t put it down until I knew the fate of the characters I’d come to love in the first few chapters.

CONTEST ALERT! Deva is also doing an ARC giveaway! If you’re a blogger, bookseller, lib

Sekrit Projects Mostly Revealed!

I’ve been working on some super top secret collaborative projects and generally sneaking around like a stealthy little ninja this month, so I figured it was time for an update!

Sekrit Project #1: fLiP iT fRiDaY

Bloggers work hard to spread the word about great reads through book reviews, contests, author interviews, and lots of other fun stuff. To show a little love for their tireless efforts, we’re flipping things around, shining the spotlight on bloggers for a change!

Starting May 1, every Frida

Is Amazonfail a Win for the Indies?

Whether Amazonfail was policy-induced censorship, a programming glitch, a hacker with too much free time on his hands since the final episode of Battlestar Gallactica, or a scheme perpetuated by the French to get back at us for bastardizing the croissant into the Croissan’Wich (sacre bleu!), there is a silver lining. When it comes to picking out some great new reads, I’ve turned off the one-click-and-your-done laziness in favor of interacting with real people again.

Talk about sacre bleu!

It’s tr

Neesha Meminger’s Character Debut Party

Neesha Meminger - Shine, Coconut MoonFor so many reasons, I can’t wait to dig into this book! Mainly because Neesha is awesome, so I’ve no doubt the book will be, too. I was lucky enough to meet her in New York last summer for a Debs brunch and I’ve been counting down the days to SHINE’s release ever since. I even got my copy a day early (thanks to TSM for sneaking us into the secret back room at Strand)!

About SHINE, COCONUT MOON

Samar––a.k.a. Sam––is an Indian-American teenager whose mom has kept her away from her old-fashioned fa

Carrie Ryan’s Character Debut Party

Carrie Ryan - The Forest of Hands and TeethI was so excited to read an ARC of THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH several months ago, as my husband is an avid zombie-lover and I’d never read it in the YA genre. Though I myself was formerly anti-zombie, having been traumatized in middle school when I convinced the babysitter to let me watch the original Night of the Living Dead, I’d read Carrie’s first chapter online and wanted to give the undead a chance.

Well… I wasn’t disappointed, and unlike the aftermath of my Night of the Living Dead expe
