S. R. Jenkins is a writer/actor residing in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee with her husband, daughter, and four cats. She has a BA in Theatre Arts from Birmingham-Southern College and an MFA in Playwriting from The Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University.

Her first published story appears in the new collection Roots: An Anthology published by Kepler Studio Productions.

Make a cup of tea and a snack. Put on some music that feels right for the story I am trying to tell and make myself do it. One thing I have learned and am really working on is the fact that it is much easier to rewrite or cut sections that aren't working than it is to get the story on the page. If I can just fight my way through to the next beat, I can hit a stride.

Any words can be rewritten. It doesn't have to be perfect in the first draft despite what your brain may be telling you. Just keep going and keep hydrated.(less)
