It’s The Knowing That Hurts

It always bothered me, where was I during the year 1981? I knew I ran in 1980.  And because I ran, my birth mother abandoned me and I missed my sixth grade graduation, which was held two weeks after I ran. I lived my whole seventh grade school year at my friend’s house with her … Continue reading It’s The Knowing That Hurts →

Honest Eyes

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share a poem I wrote nearly forty years ago… Honest Eyes I sat on your lap, your hand on my knee. You said, “Look in my eyes as I count to three,Say what it isThat is on your mind...If we say the sameWe’re definitely one of a kind.” We … Continue reading Honest Eyes →

Hello Darkness My Old Friend

Hello Darkness my old friend.  I’ve come to talk with you again.Because a vision softly creeping.  Left it’s seeds while I was sleeping. And the vision that was planted in my brain, still remains.Within the Sound of Silence. A song driven to give companion to the voices in ones head.A darkness we try to forget, put … Continue reading Hello Darkness My Old Friend →

Moving Along

MightyNetworks is all packed up and ready to go ♡

Hello everyone and thank you so much for supporting me through this journey of stepping out of the child abuse closet. I stood up, I spoke up and I shattered my silence on childhood trauma, family secrets and the monstrous predator my birth mother harbored.

I was not my abusers first victim, nor was I his last and that is why I will continue to spread my story of inhumane abuse, torture and its horrifying and heartbreaking truth.

Lately, there has been a lot of spamming on MightyNetworks, which resulted in me making that account private and because of that, I have decided that on February 5th, my MightyNetworks website will be deactivated and deleted. I welcome everyone to follow me here on my new Author website at… https://booksbycatherinemellen.com/

I look forward to seeing you all here. Thank you again for the many years of support, kind words and friendships.

Your friend always,
Catherine Mellen

Closing MightyNetworks

Six years ago, I was so scared, nervous and yet still so very, shamed, embarrassed & humiliated over the childhood I once lived.  But I was also hell-bent on being heard, because the bottom line was, I did nothing wrong.  MightyNetworks gave me the availability to step outside of the child abuse closet and tell my story, so I could be heard.  I soon began telling the world my life story, one day and one blogpost at a time.  Because MightyNetworks wasn’t well known, I started a WordPress Website that linked to my MightyNetworks Blog.
Now with five books published, two more coming out this year, two in 2025, three in 2026 and two more in 2027, I realized what I now need is an Author Website.  So with that said, I have decided to part ways with MightyNetworks. I will be closing out my MightyNetworks website on February 5th and changing my WordPress Website into Books By Catherine Mellen with a domain link of same name.
I also took over 450 blogposts and turned it into a book: Ramblings of a Mishmash Blog Book (Publish date: 2027) 😉  I look forward to this new beginning and will share my Books By Catherine Mellen link as soon as I’m done making my new author website look pretty 😎  Thank you all for always supporting me, loving me and remembering me… even when I tried so hard to forget.

I stood up, I spoke up and I shattered my silence on childhood trauma, family secrets and the monstrous predator my birth mother harbored.   Now I write about the pretty stuff in life 🌻

Shame, Secrets and Silence… SHATTERED

My abuser was 39 years old when he came into my life in 1975. Already a pro at his monstrous ways and with bundles of photos of his previous victims in hand.  In the summer of 1981, at age eleven, I ran away and straight into a lifetime of shame, secrets and silence in a society full of forgive, forget and respect your mother.

What is buried inside the tunnel-like hole in the cellar wall of my childhood home?  Who were my abusers previous victims? Who were his victims after me? Why did I spend half my life trying to belong to a family I never really belonged too?
The horrifying truth behind child rape, family secrets and the monstrous predator my birth mother harbored…

Happy New Year 2024

May God give you… For every storm, a rainbow. For every tear, a smile.  For every promise, a care and a blessing for each trial.

For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share.  For every sigh, a sweet song and an answer to each prayer.

Wishing everyone a fabulous finish to 2023 and a sensational start to 2024.  Remember to raise your left leg as the countdown begins, that way you can start the year off on the right foot.

I’ll be publishing two books in 2024: Only Beautiful Remains and Promise Made, Promise Kept.  I look forward to sharing my words with the  world.

All my love, peace and blessings,

Your friend Catherine Mellen  ♡

Corey’s Walk

          Corey’s Walk

This is a story, about a boy named Corey
And very long walk he took
It was cold, but he was bold
Like pages written in a book.

He planned ahead, in order to spread
Peace and love to all
He walked real slow, in the snow
So he wouldn’t slip and fall.

He made a sign out of pine
‘Please join me if you will’
Before he knew, the line had grew
A spectacular winter thrill.

As they walked, the people talked
“Where is it that we are going?”
Corey replied, with great pride,
“To the bright star that is glowing.”

Every night, it shines so bright
You can see it near and far
Every day we kneel and pray
To the brightest northern star.

That is where, we get to share
A miracle for all mankind
Corey said, “It’s just ahead,
Peace and love, you’ll find.”

No one moved at what Corey proved
They just shouted out in laughter
“It is way too high, up in the sky,
For any one of us to go after.”

It made the young lad, a little sad
That he could not reach the star
They told Corey, not to worry
He was still their superstar.

They sang a song, it wasn’t long
Until Corey looked all around
He knew right then, his search did end
Peace and love was found.

He took a chance and now they dance
Throughout the whole neighborhood
But still so high, way up in the sky
He’d reach for a star if he could.

Wishing everyone an wonderful holiday full of peace, love and bright stars.

I Talk To Angels

For our loved ones above, because even on Christmas Day…

 I Talk To Angels

If I had a wish, one that would come true
I’d wish for one more Christmas, just to be with you.

I’d tell you all about the times, I was left alone & cried
Close my eyes, I talk to you, until my tears are dried.
I’d tell you how I miss the way, your quirky little smile
Close my eyes, I talk to you, I know its been awhile.

If I had a wish, one that I want the most
Maybe a Christmas photo, for a social media post.

I’d tell you how it feels, to miss you to the core
Close my eyes, I talk to you, if only for once more.
I’d tell you of days ago and of Christmas past
Close my eyes, I talk to you, hoping it will last.

If I had one wish, one that is on my mind
I’d make my wish for you, a Christmas miracle kind.

I’d tell you how I dream, of days when you were here
Close my eyes, I talk to you, please don’t disappear.
I’d tell you how I begged, days I wished you stayed
Close my eyes, I talk to you, everyday I prayed.

If I had a wish, with just one destination
I’d wish for one more Christmas with your visitation.

I’d tell you I’m glad you’re here, please don’t go away
Close my eyes, I talk to you, even on Christmas Day.
