Repose
(written October 2025)

Lay me down in a field of amethyst to rest.
Allow me to bleed until the earth turns red.
Leave the thorns within my breast to attest.
For every mistake made, I suffered.
Never anoint my skin with pity.
The depth of my wounds you do not know.
Lay me down in a field of amethyst so I can heal my soul.
Once restored, I shall rise.
This is not my grave, only a brief repose.

I am (Becoming)
(from Pieces of Me: Part 3)

I am a leaf blowing in the wind.
I am the bird that soars and flies.
I am the butterfly emerging from the cocoon.
I am the spring flower in the garden beginning to bloom.
I am letting go, but I am not free-falling.
I know the map of my soul, and I hear its calling.
My soul no longer plays a lament over the past
or things not meant to be.
I am now becoming the person I was supposed
to be before you stole the best parts of me

Review of Pieces of Me by Vicki Atkinson
Thank you so much Vicki! You can read Vicki’s review here
“Pieces of Me”
It is hard to believe this Collection is nearly a year old already!
I am beyond grateful to anyone who has bought and reviewed this book, which, as you all know, is very important to me!
Domestic Abuse is a societal crisis!
The statistics speak for themselves!
I survived to tell my story, but many are still living this nightmare.
If my book gives hope and strength to one person then I have done my job properly!
THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR ABUSE!
Vicki, you are a very dear friend and it is an honour to know you and to have you here as part of my journey.
Please do visit Vicki’s blog if you have a minute and also consider buying her book, “Surviving Sue” which I can highly recommend!
I have turned comments off on this post because many of you have already commented on Vicki’s post.

Endings
(written September 2025)

Among endings, we search the loose threads.
All those gossamer fibres that hang, suspended.
Gathering dust on the torn pieces of our lives.
From endings, stains often coat the mind with regret
over stitches of time wasted.
Tie all loose threads in a knot to see how far it stretches.
Loose threads will never build bridges, and for solace, we must
accept what will never change.
But, from endings, there will always be one thread of hope remaining,
the one that says, “Try again”.

Bruised Hearts
written in response to Sadje’s #Whatdoyousee

What turns a heart blue?
Why does it bruise so easily when it once pulsed
with the red blood of vitality?
Was the heart a victim of its own empathy?
Did it succumb to life’s harsh realities before becoming
infused with the ice of a world devoid of humanity?
Or was the heart torn from the protection of its rib cage for fun by callous hands?
And yet, even when bruised, a kind heart knows not how to
“unfeel” anything.
So it is with cruel irony that it still beats, even when the blade of brutality
dissects it on a plate.
