Hollow Spaces
(written October 2025)

Hollow Spaces.
We fill them with concrete.
Hollow hearts need more than bricks.
When they were your anchor, how easy it would be
to drown your sorrows with wine.
Sandcastles disappear in the waves of
an incoming tide.
Time does not fill the emptiness that remains; it only
consumes.
Love is eternal.
Grief is the flame that burns as you long
to hear their voice on the line
It matters not how long ago they passed.
Nothing fills the hollow inside.
And you wonder if tears also fall in heaven
as you remember your last goodbye

Review of Embracing the Power to Live by Marsha Ingrao

WHAT AMAZON SAYS
Embracing the Power to Live is a poetic journey of a woman’s perseverance despite life’s hard knocks. This collection taps into the true spirit of poetry—reaching ordinary people with the message that they are enough. Some poems hold profound meaning. Others are included simply for the fun of playing with words – a joy reborn when she stepped into the world of syllabic poetry.
Told by different authority figures in her life that she would never marry or achieve her dreams, the author defied the discouraging voices. Her poetry shatters shame uplifts the spirit, and encourages readers to embrace the strength to do the same.
This collection isn’t a self-help guidebook—it’s an invitation to laugh, weep, grow, and live together, connecting hearts through poetry. Embracing the Power to Live is for anyone who seeks to rise above a spinning world to gain strength, perspective, and a new beginning.
MY REVIEW
Embracing the Power to Live is an exceptional book,
part memoir, part poetry.
I would also say it is a “call to action”, we are after all
only here once, for a short time.
I really enjoyed the way this book was split into all the relevant parts
of life ( Language, Love, Laughter,Learn, Listen, List, Locality, Leisure, Live), which, surely we must EMBRACE equally if we are too survive and LIVE fully!
In each of these parts, Marsha writes with wisdom throughout her verses, as well as humour, ( all written in various forms).
Marsha also opens her heart to the reader about some of the many painful moments in her life by sharing personal stories.
This book is testament to a life well lived while learning to navigate its obstacles.
Marsha’s words are relatable throughout.
If you are struggling right now, this book will raise you back up with honesty and inspiration!
I recommend this book with 5 stars.

Toils from the Soil

I sacrificed.
I still bear stains of the soil upon my hands as proof.
I watered the earth with my tears.
When the ground was frozen, I believed nothing would change.
Yet spring taught me that flowers always bloom again.
In summer, when the sun was high, I waited for my fruit to ripen.
Upon autumn’s arrival, I fell back into the pit of my sorrows.
as dust clouds of my history clouded my vision.
Still, I tried.
That is all you can do.
And to the earth I shall always return
for renewal when
the storms of life cause me to forget all
I have reaped from my struggles along the way.

Pauses
(written October 2025)

In the pauses, a rolling stone gathers moss.
In the pauses, years slip through
our fingers like dust.
Everything changes, even within the pauses.
The landscape may look the same, yet many seasons have passed.
In the pauses, we learn that silence
means more than wasted words.
In the hush of silence, there is often much to recollect.
Life etches our skin with lines as it collects its debts.
And as we gaze at our reflection, we realise that in the act of pausing,
we only waste what time we have left.

Truth
(written October 2025)

Words stuck to the roof of my mouth,
waiting for you to scrape them out.
With the tip of your tongue.
I see you hesitate.
Why are you so afraid?
Are my words too profound?
Some people recite verses to coerce,
while adding sugar for flavour.
Should I bite my lips so you can taste the blood of my truth?
Between my lines and verses, you will find no ruse.
Naked , I show you my soul, while
you stand there with your eyes closed.
pretending to be blind.

Review of Rhyming Dreams by Nicole Sara

When reading Nicole Sara’s beautiful collection of poetry,
I felt like I was walking through Paradise.
Each poem was a delight to my senses as I floated on the
gentleness of Nicole’s poetic voice.
This collection is divided into two parts:
Starry Steps and Petal Pages.
For added beauty, Nicole has also included photographs
to accompany each poem.
Her lines flow effortlessly as she takes
you on a journey that transports. the reader in her own steps.
With stunning imagery in every line, this book is a balm to the soul.
I recommend this collection with 5 stars.

Dirt
(written October 2025)

Dirty water pours out of the sky.
From the earth it has drawn the blood
of countless wars.
The rain is now stained.
As the sky cries, another child is born
into the harshness of this world.
We can but hope its fingers uncurl
and no one teaches it how to hate.
