Return of the king: Carlisle excels as protagonist Bill Nott
𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐌𝐎𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐏𝐈𝐄𝐂𝐄 ‘𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓’It was anticipated to be a complete success, but nobody could predict on what level J.T. Monaghan’s newest show would be. Critics are already calling it a “modern masterpiece” and “one of the most important tales of our time” and even within the first few minutes of the play it’s easy to see why.
Set in the 1950s and against the backdrop of an evolving Las Vegas, ‘Bring Me the Light’ carefully and vividly explores the personal lives of the characters and the rapidly changing post-war world they live in.
In his first Broadway show after a ten year hiatus, Perseus Carlisle plays Bill Nott: an obsessive, conflicted lawyer who is hellbent on saving his childhood friend from execution for a crime he allegedly didn’t commit whilst also battling with the fact the death of his wife was ruled as a suicide despite evidence that suggests otherwise.
Carlisle is mesmerising as Nott: his heartbreak is your heartbreak, his anger is your anger, and not only does his first monologue (happening a mere ten minutes into the play) on the illusion of the American Dream really put things into perspective for audiences, but his final one on the corruption of the justice system will move just about everybody to tears. Carlisle is a natural spokesman, whether in fictional worlds or the very one we inhabit, and his delivery makes the messages in his monologues all the more poignant……

-tragic backstory protagonists 😂
Then I think you’d like Sin Eater, my first book baby. It’s on Amazon (kindle unlimited, kindle, and paperback). ❤️
P.S. if you leave a review after reading on Amazon or Goodreads, I’ll always remember and love you. If you’re an author, let me know if I can do the same for you!

-> so sorry this is formatted the way it is (I scanned my word document from my laptop to my phone lol), but as part of a module for uni entitled Experimental Writing, I had to do just that and made a poem from other poems. It’s a war poem that consists of some other war poetry, some Romantic poetry, and misc poetry (the titles and writers of which you can find in red) and I had fun making it so I thought I’d share with my fellow writeblrs!!
