“I take what is most precious to people: their memory. It’s so simple. Give me your woes, and I can make you forget them. I could make you forget everything, if I really wanted to. I cure wounded people and give them a second chance.
However, their second chance means parts of their lives are completely missing, gone forever. They will never know that self again, nor will they remember those who were lost. They can continue on with their life in ignorant bliss, but I will always know. I will carry it for them within my own memory. Their troubles will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Yes, I will erase, I will cover, I will bury.
But I will always remember.
I save and I hurt, all at once.”

Since I want to start posting here more, I’d like to reintroduce myself!

Since I want to start posting here more, I’d like to reintroduce myself!
My name is Amanda Denham. I’m an author and artist living in Alabama. My first novel, Sin Eater, released in March of 2024 with Dawn Publishing. Here’s some fun facts about it, along with the link to it for more info:
•urban fantasy
•great for ages 13 and up
•it includes artwork done by me inside, as well as the cover
•the settings are based on my hometown and places I’ve been here
•friendship focused
•can pull at the heartstrings but also make you laugh
•the main character has the mysterious power to erase memories
You’ll definitely see posts about Sin Eater and my daily life as an author along with drawings, pet photos (three rabbits and three cats, help me), and books I’m reading. There will also be updates on my second novel, Seven Feathers, which is coming out this year! Meanwhile, I’m writing on Sin Eater’s sequel. 🩵

I feel like I’ve been a little MIA on the author/book front. Summer has been BUSY! And it will stay busy through August. Behind the scenes is going well though:
-working on my chapter and cover art for my publisher’s next anthology
-writing Sin Eater’s sequel
-collecting more reviews for Sin Eater (sorry to those I’ve bothered about that 😅)
-trying to find new ways to advertise and spread word about my book
-planning more book signings
Meanwhile:
-my day job has been stressful
-BUT I have a family beach vacation the first week of August!
-then right after, San Francisco with my husband! I’ve never traveled that far before
-lots of fun friend gatherings in the meantime
Life will hopefully slow down soon, but I’m collecting wonderful memories and experiences along the way.
If you haven’t and want to support an artist /author, grab my book Sin Eater, enjoy reading, and leave a review! It’s a great story right from my heart, and I think it can add some goodness to your life.

My signing at the Barnes & Noble at The Summit went very well! I was so surprised that I could barely move from my table because people were approaching me constantly versus me having to go seek them out.
Everyone was so kind and supportive. Many told me to keep going, to keep writing and making art. They loved the blurb on the back of the book too, one of the parts I have the hardest time writing! I also met two other writers who have published books, so I can’t wait to give them a read and leave reviews to support them. I spoke with many young adults as well, which of course is perfect for my YA book. They seemed super grateful that Sin Eater promotes mental health awareness, specifically for younger folks! I met a couple of educators, one of which said she’d love to come have me speak at a college nearby. I’m hoping that happens. Let me know if you know any teachers, libraries, or schools who’d like me to come speak!
I’m so grateful for my family, friends, and coworkers who also attended. I have the best people behind me. It makes me feel inspired to keep putting myself out there to share these pieces of me.

Really happy to see this at my local library
OOOOH. *happy YA librarian dance*
I want this in every library, everywhere. After all, some kids won’t even google this stuff because they don’t want parents/siblings checking their browser history.
This is really awesome. And if you’re not familiar with how the Dewey Decimal system works - the numbers subject-based, which means these numbers are applicable in EVERY library. So if you see something you want to research on this list - look for those same numbers in any of your local libraries.
This is wonderful.
